Yes...as I watched Q who? I wondered whether this show was the seed that eventualy grew into Voyager. In hindsight, some of the things said in this episode seem to be hinting at what might be done in years to come...

Yep, a Ferengi Marauder is almost as powerfull as a Galaxy class starship. And I agree we didn't see enough of them. Given their strength and numbers I can't see why they weren't involved in some of the conflict seen in DS9. For profit of course.

:) Fantastic! But me, a geek?!? I point you to the sunglasses >>> :)
The only problem is that as it's an American website, I won't be able to buy anything. This is because I'm:

After watching Q who? this evening it was interesting seeing the very first appearence of the Borg on Star Trek. Its amazing how far the Borg have evolved from Q who? to say, Endgame. They have changed dramaticly since then but the core points of the Borg are there from regeneration to collectiveness. Who knew that within a few years, a Borg drone would be a major charater in a Star Trek TV series? It's at times like these that I wish that I could erase all my memoy of Star Trek and strt again, through seasons 1-7 of TNG, DS9, VOY and then ENT, just to get the full force of the story lines. Ah well...
Q who? was also a great show in itself, with plenty o action fraught with tension. As Picard says it was a 'kick in the pants'. (note he doesn't say whether from the front or back) But even better was the debating other humanity's value and ideals, something that always happens when Q is around. :) I believe this episode also marks the ending of TNG's 'complacency'. The speacil effects were flawed at best, espeacily when compared to Voyagers lavish Borg sets, but who cares? The story rivaled anything Voyager could come up with.
All hail Q who?

My fave TV show:~ Easily Winnie the Pooh
My fave book:~ Wind in the Willows/The Book Of Pooh
(as you can see I'm a bit of a Pooh nut)
Incidently, here in the UK at the moment there is someting called The Big Read happening. This is where 21 of the best books of all time are selected and then the public vote for their fave one. Winnie the Pooh and Wind in the Willows were both nominated, so I'll be busy for quite some time.

I wouldn't like not knowing whether the array had self-destructed or if the Kazon had managed to gain control of it thus theatening the Ocampa and (eventualy) the Alpha quadrant.
I think that any of the other Captains would have made the same decision, because it was the right choice.

The DS9 briefing room. I love it!

I didn't miss Tasha really. Her leaving meant that Worf's character could evolve and step into the limelight and his background story was so much more intresting than Tasha's *yawn* rape gang story. The rape storys were an overboard attempt to show that not everyone has a happy upbringing in the 24th century. Still, Tasha was a precursor to Kira whose resistance storys were fantastic.
It also felt like she was only starred in most of the episodes merely so that she would be there and not for any actual reason. The only episode she was the main character in was really a trumpet blowing session for her i.e. she boasted, and she overacted incredibly sometimes. I also felt that the two similar characters (her and Worf) clashed on the first season and prevented the other from developing. With her out the picture Worf's character grew...and grew...and grew. Something I'm very thankful for. Her death was stupid but overall I'm actually glad it happened. Not in a morbid way though.
She wasn't a bad character and I didn't hate her but I just never connected with her.

This link leads to the official 'Star Trek - Deep Space Nine: The Ferengi Rules of Acquisistion'. Its a good book for only a few beans as it not only has a nice intro by 'Quark' (allright by Ira Steven Behr, but it feels like Quark) but also all the known rules of acquisistion.

All of those theory's are cool and could be the 'true' thing that happened.

Season 1...SkyUK is currently reshowing TNG so for the first time ever I've been watching the first 2 seasons. As a TV show I actually don't like it, for the most part, but to see how it all begins is facinating. (for me, TNG is the birth of Star Trek, being far too young to see any TOS) There are a few episodes I like, mainly the episodes in the second half of the season.
And Conspiracy was a fantastic show.

Of course its barbaric. Any violence is barabric and medieval. In the perfect world disputes would be reasoned out perfectly without the need for primitive violence. However, we are still quite far from the ideal. And how is the war in Iraq saving lives? I don't agree with the reasons for the war or the war itself but I agree that something had to be done.
In Ent we are told that Photonic Warheads (Photon Torpedoes) have a maximum destructive area of 3Km.
Maybe because the UFP s is an unaggresive power they don't want a huge be-all-end-all massed destruction weapon. The want a specific weapon that can pick off individual systems. Besides, Photon Torpedoes are very powerfull. The explosive force is just contained within a small area. And 4 Quantum Torpedoes can disable a Keldon class warship.

All of the above. Its a fantastic evolving show with deep transfixing characers and evocative story lines.

The Doctor. I just watched a very powerful VOY episode where the Doc conveys the true meaning of being a doctor. Also his bedside manner is easily the most enjoyable... :)
My second choice would be Bashir, again after seeing a strong, medical episode: Life support

:) Nice story. It's been too long since I've had a nice fairy tale.

You have got to be joking,Voyager was light years better than DS9
I beg to differ. VOY is good but DS9...*dreamy sigh*. Utter perfection.

Cool. I don't currently go on the Science forum but I like the idea of having different subsections. I'd definetly post in a history forum, if we had one. History being a burning desire of mine.

then weasly comes in and falls into the water,He he he, weasly...

Man did I hate that character...

I picked Worf, just for the fun of it.There should be a homosexual character on Star Trek, if only to represent homosexual people out there. I wouldn't like it if they were there because they were gay, it should be that their being gay would be just part of their character. Personally, I think that a homosexual character on Star Trek would help a lot of people get over their prejudice of homosexuality.
Go Worf!

I thought Riker saw Data for the first time on the holodeck, when Data was trying to whistle and they talk about Data being superior to humans. Must be my fuzzy memory.

-
OMG, very very bad! Not only would it ruin Star Trek but why would it be needed? There's a massive galaxy out there and whole era's of time that have not been investigated.

I don't agree with most of that article. The characters in VOY did grow and develop, you only have to look at 7 of 9 in her first appearance in the show and in her last, it's literally impossible to recognize her. Harry Kim is another great example of VOY's character development. So is Capt. Janeway, who had a fantastic first season episode where she begins to finally feel comfortable in command. It is also a wonderful perclusion of things to come, as in the friendly relaxed manner of the crew and it's captain.
Voyager was a great series with (mostly) fantastic shows. Yes it had a few weak episodes at the beginning but to me VOY had the strongest start as a Star Trek show out of TNG, DS9 and VOY.
The only thing I would agree on is perhaps the most minor point of all, Janeway's inconsistency. However, we're all human.
(By the way, even after two seasons had fallen by and all asssumed that the Marquis story line had evaporated, we were treated to several Marquis centred episodes, one in which the Marquis take over the ship, commanded by Touvok. If only they had done a two-parter...
