  1. ANOTHER 10 !

Here is what I thought of North Star:

    Click for Spoiler:

North Star could not have come at a better time.  After "Twilight", the explosive episode of last week (no pun intended), it was refreshing to see an episode that went outside of the Xindi story arc.  Timing aside, the episode was quite good itself.  It went back to the core of Star Trek, which is dealing with issues.  While many episodes do this, but I think this one did it better than most.  I was very happy with the hope that was created by the end of the episode.  As for the action, it was fantastic!  The phaser and gun fights were unique because they were out in the open, and not confined by corridors.  Furthermore, I liked it when Archer got shot as it was incredibly real looking.  Also, Reed shooting T'Pol reminded me of "Speed", except that it had a more humorous twist.  "Take the hostage out of the equation!"  The best action; however, was the physical action.  Bakula is now my favorite captain when it comes to fighting hand to hand.  He made fighting with one arm look very convincing and believable.  His acting was also above par; he makes an amazing cowboy!  After the wonderful episodes seen this season, I think that Bakula may be the best actor to play the role of a captain in Star Trek.  Although Picard as a character was better, Bakula manages to out trump Stewart with acting ability, which is a very generous statement because Stewart is one of my favorite actors.  They couldn't have chosen a better actor for Archer.  Enterprise this season is helping me believe Enterprise can make it for a full 7 years.  As a stand alone episode I give this episode a 9 of 10.  This is more than I was going to give originally, but after writting out my thoughts on North Star, I couldn't give it any less.

Captain Bolivar you said everything I wanted to say, but better. I couldn't agree more!

This season is great! I've caught myself watching eps 4 and 5 times. And I can't wait for each new ep!

  2. I agree with Tank:  Hoshi would be an absolutely terrible choice for someone in command.  She still whines too much and is a bit indecisive (though she got a lot better in "Exile").

Malcolm's just too eager to fire off his piece and is a bit pushy - I don't think he'd be at all good at considering the overall objectives of a mission or other officers' suggestions.  He's also a bit too negative - this would not be inspirational to any subordinates.

Travis generally makes the right decisions and shows a flare for what he does.    I say Travis should get it if anyone, but then again, he has had such a small role to date, it's really hard to justify it.  At this point, I'm against any promotions, but if it has to happen, then Mayweather gets my vote.  He's competent, confident and able to come up with good alternatives to solve problems.

I agree with you Red Shirt. You said it better than I could. Down the road I'd like to see Travis promoted to Lt. (jg).

  3. In terms of air time and number of lines, Travis is the most under used character on the show. In fact in "Twilight" he had no lines, and the only air time he had was when he was dead on the floor of the Bridge. I would like to see some more episodes with him involved the action and with the members of the crew.

  4. I, too, voted for Captain Jonathan Archer!

He has the spirit of an explorer, but is now thrust into unaccustomed dire situations which, if not not resolved correctly, will have fatal consequences. He is proving that he is able to get through these situations, acquire desperately need knowledge (without resorting to desperate measures) and all the while he keeps what makes him human intact.

James T. Kirk would have to be my next choice.

  5. It seems that every week we have a post for our thoughts on Enterprise.  Since everyone seems to include their personal rating of the show, I decided to begin making a poll for it.  So now you can vote, and post your thoughts!  You will see me do this next week as well.

I voted a whopping 9.5 for Enterprise this week.  I didn't give 10 cause a perfect rating should be rare.

The opener was fantastic.  T'Pol in command, and the failed mission leaving Earth destroyed really got me on the edge of my seat.

Episodes that show alternate futures with aged crews are always interesting, especially one that is so drastic in the alteration of the timeline.

What I also loved about this episode was how it showed the audience how much T'Pol cares about humans.  She really feels like part of the crew now.

Earlier in the Season T'Pol and Tucker had some "intimate" moments.  They never seemed right, but somehow T'Pol's future relationship with Archer seemed to have a lot of chemistry.  I was surprised by this, but also very happy with it.  In the normal timeline I might not want to see them get together but for that alternate future I loved it.

I think this may have been the best episode this season, but I do expect many to disagree with me mainly about the Archer - T'Pol relationship.  But I agree to disagree!

Oh, and when it was revealed that the device that could completely cure Archer was damaged, did anybody else immediately think "subspace implosion"?

I agree with what you said.

I liked the "future" relationship with Archer and T'Pol. I would not like to see a relationship develop in the current timeline. However the idea of unrequited love of T'pol for Archer is an aspect that intrigues me. The only thing I disagree you on is the rating--I gave it a 10!

  6. I watched it and found it very interesting. There definitely had to be something going on with all the military presence. All those townspeople didn't hallucinate the same things. Whether it was a soviet satellite or an ET, we may never know. It had to be something to warrant all the secrecy.

  7. To at least partially answer you question:

    Click for Spoiler:

When Archer headed into the Expanse with the info Future Guy gave him, Archer knew only that the Xindi world is in the Expanse. Archer asked for and got the coordinates to the Xindi home world, two different things.

Let me pose this question to you:

If you encountered someone and you were uncertain of their intent, would you give them the directions to your home?

This was an easy out for the Xindi slave. He could tell the truth without giving anything away.

As to how and why the Xindi home world was destroyed, I guess we will all have to stay tuned.
