  1. This would not be the first time that we have seen Dr. Phlox dealing with an ethical delimma. Remember the episode concerning the two races where one was dying and the others were immune and the doctor found a cure but did not want to give it to them because it would upset the balance of evolution. It set a precidence that the doctor is firm in upholding his ethical and medical responsibilities, so this should be interesting.

  2. thats great. a lot of the younger ones seem to say TNG. sorry to stereotype you like that. im glad that you had an open mind, and checked it out.   it may be corny, and campy, but for the late 60's it was a great show, and kept on going. for without that campy cornyness there would'nt be anything today.

I just believe that it is necessary to see TOS to understand alot of the Star Trek Universe. Yes, it was a little corny, but it did deal with a lot of issues and it laid the ground work for everything that followed. Without TOS the Star Trek universe would not exist at all, and I have a big love for the series for that reason. And as far as stereotyping, I understand, because you are right most of the younger fans do side more with TNG, but I think that everyone should give TOS a chance.

  3. This is truly a GREAT site. Even though I have only been a member for less than a week, I love it here. I have become a little addicted though. I have spent the last couple of years seeking fellow trek fans online, but everywhere I went I ended up being attacked at one point or another, and the posts usually lacked tolerance for differing opinions. I thank VBG and all of the MODS for keeping this a safe haven for all. My only question is how do you become a MOD?

  4. I will help you what I can, but I am still figuring out a few things. If you have yahoo messenger you can IM me there so that I can talk you through while you are doing it. My name on yahoo is frogdewayne, and I am usually on most nights. I would be glad to help as much as I can. I have figured most of it out though, as I to computer tech support for a living.

  5. If I remember right, wasn't there an episode in TNG where Picard stated that humanity had stopped worshiping God? I think it was the one where the ship in orbit is believed to be a God, by the people of the planet. I may remember it wrong, as I have not seen it in a while.

  6. I went for number two, especially if you remember that we found out in ST: VI that "not all creatures keep their genitals in the same place."

As far as the cleaning of dishes there are several episodes where we see them placing a dish back in the replicator and it disappearing. And according to the tech manual the replicator reuses the matter from the dish to create other items.

  7. Not all of us "younger" fans have discounted TOS. I grew up with TNG, but I made it a point to see every episode of TOS so that I could understand what started it all. I love all of the series'.

  8. I doubt if it would have been the same Dax in ST: VI because I have never heard anything about the symbiant having ever had a non Trill host.

The part that has confused me is that the Trill/Symbiant relationship was first made know in TNG. Am I wrong or was that episode the first time that Starfleet became aware of the......Unique arrangement between the host and symbiant in the trill race? If so it implies that they were not in Starfleet or there would have been medical information for Doctor Crusher to access. Stands to reason that if they had served on a starship the ship's doctor would have known and made note of it.

  9. As for a rating for this episode I would give it a 6. It was a little slow, but had several good moments. The rest of my thoughts on the episode are in the spoiler below, so that I do not ruin the episode for those that have not seen it yet, by discussing my favorite scenes.

Like T'Pol telling Dr. Phlox "We can stop the movie if it is interupting your conversation." I am also really curious to hear the explanation that Archer describes as "a long story" concerning why he did not end up working on a freighter. And the conversation with T'Pol, Archer, and Tripp where T'Pol states that she is going to suggest that the Vulcan Ambassador watch Frankenstein was classic.

  10. I seem to remember that it is widely excepted that the Squire of Gothos from TOS was a young Q. Am I mistaken in this?

Also, as a side note, I know that Guinans race is extremely long lived. Wonder if she is "old enough" to be seen on ENT. I know it's a stretch, but I wonder?

  11. Question: If the US military had been sent to 'liberate', would they not have sought the SURRENDER of the Iraqi army through negotiation?

We did give them every oportunity to surrender. If we had no interest in giving them a peaceful way out of the situation, our military would not have spent days dropping thousands of flyers in Iraq, giving the military instructions on how to surrender peacefully, and without being harmed. I strongly believe that we have given the Iraqi military members every possible chance to surrender.

I also believe that we must protect those that cannot protect themselves. And that is exactly what we are doing in Iraq, protecting the citizens of Iraq against those that would harm them.

I remember reading about another time when our country did not intervene early because we wanted to respect the soverenty of another country, and we did not want to do anything until we had absolute proof that there was wrong doing, and how many people could have been saved if we had acted towards Hitler sooner?

  12. I hate it when people make comments about Trek when they have no idea what they are talking about. I have tried to convert some of my friends but have not been to successful. But they all keep negative opinions about the show to themselves. Although my best friend is just as big of a fan as I am. We give each other Star Trek gifts for Christmas every year. Last year I got him a Bat'Leth and he got me two bird of prey knives. It has always insured that we have something to talk about when there is not much else going on in our lives. And this year I am going to take him to a convention to thank him for never turning his back on our friendship even when things got rough.

  13. What drives me nuts is at work. I was looking through the postings for Employee of the month and what did I see. March employee of the month Deanna Troy. I know the spelling is different but it was freaky.
