  1. At these boards, you are definitely not in the minority!!

I am glad to hear that. Apparently I have been mistaking some of the boards in the ENT section because it just seams like there are alot of people that are critisizing the show and do not appear to have a lot of "love" for the show.

  2. I voted no, because I do not believe that Star Trek was ever meant to be scary.  I like the drama, and the suspense that we have always seen in Star Trek, and I don't think that the series should start going for the horror scares that alot of Sci Fi shows are going to anymore.  I say keep it the way it is.

When Trek went scary most of the time it has a strong message with it. Chain of Command is an example - the horrors of torture.

I agree with the point you are making, but I consider that to have been more dramatic than scary. When I think of a show being scary I think more along the lines of Aliens and Freddy.

  3. Yes, Starfleet has been formed and there are other ships in the fleet, but they are not Warp 5 capable, and they do not get to go into deep space. We are seeing the seeds of the Federation being formed.

I to think it would be great to see the Picard ancestors. And in one of the other episodes reference is made to the Mars colonies.

  4. I think a new character would be nice, as long as we did not have to lose any of the current cast. Maybe a nurse, or another science lead. Another idea would be for there to be an "Assistant Chief Engineer" (not sure of the right title), maybe they could put a female in this role, maybe have Trip taking a promising female engineer under his wing to show her the ropes so that she can assume control of engineering in his absence. I mean someone has to be in charge in the Engineering section when he is on the bridge or on away missions.

  6. I think that they should try to stay consistent with the other series, but I also think that they should have some leway. I mean some of the changes they have made can be explained in technicalities. Like the date of first contact with the Klingons, maybe the date that was referred to in the other series were referring to the first contact between the Klingons and the Federation, not the Klingons and Starfleet. As for the klingon appearance that was referred to earlier. One of the series made referrence to the TOS era Klingons being altered to appear more human to more disquise their true nature from starfleet and the Federation.

  7. I know that I am in the minority, but I have loved every episode of Enterprise. I think that the show has been great. I have always been one to not compare the different series, as they are all different and you need to understand that the premise for each series is different so it is natural for the plot lines to meet those differences.

  8. I agree with most of the others here. I strongly believe that Enterprise needs to have a balance between new and "tried and true" races. But if they meet to many new species it will raise alot of questions concerning the fate of these species as we do not see them again. We have already got some questions to ask concerning the suliban and there disappearence, since Daniels was from the future and from technology that came after all the other series, so where were the suliban in the other series? So, I think they should keep up the first contact line of plot.

  9. I MISSED IT!! I forgot to set my VCR and I was at work. Now I will have to wait until Sunday night.

As far as the topic of prejudice I have dealt with my families prejudice for most of my life, but I have been able to change my father's view in a large way. My father was always very prejudice against Black Americans. Two years ago a really close friend of mine, who happens to be black, did not have anyplace to go for Thanksgiving so I took him to my father's house to have Thanksgiving. At first my dad was not really happy about it, but he agreed to give him the benefit of the doubt. After the two days that we spent down there my dad ended the visit by telling my friend that he would always have a place to go if he needed it. The best part was that my friend said the grace, as it is tradition for the guest to do so in my family, and he thanked the Lord for giving him a friend with such a kind and accepting family that would open there doors to a stranger so that he did not have to spend another holiday alone. And on the second day we all woke up to the sound of my friend shoveling the sidewalk to my brothers car, as it had snowed the night before, and when my dad told him that he did not have to do that, he replied by saying that it was the least he could do since we had been gracious enough to accept him into the house and been very kind to him.

The speach at dinner was the first time I ever saw tears in my father's eyes. Since then this friend has spent every holiday with my family, even some when I could not be there.

Okay, sorry for the book, I got carried away. It is just a very fond memory for me.

  10. Or Data.  Every TNG movie starting with Generations has had a rumour that Data would be killed because Brent Spiner didn't want to play him anymore and yet he has been in every movie.  Even with the apparent death of Data there is still B4 there for the next movie.

You are right. And besides B4 their is still the character of Lore, last I heard he was simply disasembled (Or am I wrong, I have not seen Decent in a while) and who knows for sure that there is not another Soong android out there somewhere. TNG Lives. Besides if Stewart does not want to come back they could always find a way for Data to have survived and let him be the Captain.

  11. I agree that it would be aragant to force our views on other races. Also, look at how many of the Vulcans practices that we have broken that have proven to bite us in the but in the course of the episodes. Like going to planets before having a probe scan the place first.
