  1. Does it really matter? Among star trek fans we do not take either term as offensive. And no matter which the fandom would choose the general public would simply use that term to belittle the fans. And as far as that goes I think that most of those that make the jokes have simply just not been able to understand the Star Trek universe.

People are afraid of what they do not understand.

  2. Saddest think that I have ever heard concerning Trek, happened right after my Senior year of High School. A very close female friend of mine (who had always claimed to be a huge trekkie) decided to take me to my first convention, as there was one a half hour away. When we got there the guests were Marina Sirtis and the Duras Sisters. Well, she had sprung for the full package and knew some of the people working there, so we got to meet the guests backstage. During the brief conversation with Sirtis, my friend asked her how she could stand to wear all that heavy makeup and clothing. When asked what she was referring to we realized that she thought Sirtis was one of the Duras sisters. I had never been so embarrassed. And later I found that my friend had only watched the show with me, because she knew I liked it.

  3. I was ecstatic concerning the wedding. I think that Deanna and Riker both needed to deal with other events in their lives before they were able to tie the knot. I think that more people could follow this example. What I guess I am saying is how can you commit to a life with someone else until you are sure where your life is going? Is it really fair to ask someone to go on the journey before you have a good idea of where it is going?

  4. NO! Star Trek should never end. I have had Star Trek in my life from the very beginning, and I have learned a lot of lifes valuable lessons from the show. But I think that we should all understand that there will be episodes that we do not agree with, that are created to draw new viewers. I will probably be shot, but I think that this is okay, as long as these episodes never become more frequent than the type that we are used to.

  5. By definition a spin-off is anything that is created using the same primary premise of something else. This would make all of the shows spin-offs. Simply because they are all based off the same premise.

  6. My earliest memories of Trek were not pleasant, because most of my family hated the show, because my oldest brother had watched it a lot and they had never really understood it. But I when I watched it with my oldest brother for the first time after not having seen him in three years, I loved it. Trek has always given me something to hang onto from my brother who passed away in 95. I remember staying with him in the summer and watching all of the tapes of Trek that he had, Trek gave us a common ground to build a strong brother relationship that I have always cherished.

  7. I think that a T'Pol/Archer romance would be ideal. They already have a great deal of respect for each other. And they both come from societies that have a lot of mistrust for each other. It would be a great way to show a crossing of beliefs. But I agree that it should not happen any time soon. The relationship should develop slowly, and be guarded.

  8. I would love to see Q on Enterprise, but not in his traditional sort of appearance. I think the idea of his watching, and making comments without the crew being aware of his presence is great. Maybe having him doing little things to impede the crews efforts, having him give a commentary about there responses being uninteresting. That would be consistant with his TNG comment about humans "finally" becoming interesting. But I strongly that his appearance should not be known to the Q. Mainly because, well if Archer and his crew had encountered the Q do you really think that there would not have been a record of the Q, and that a warning would not have been included in Starfleets regs?

  9. I voted for shape shifters, because it would be a great premise for story. Remember that the Founders stated in DS9 that they used to be explorers that roamed the galaxy. It would be a great idea to show how that race came to be, and the way that they were in that time frame. Maybe having the Enterprise crew taking up for one of the shapeshifters that was being persecuted by another race.

  10. I voted for Archer. This is because he is using an untested vessel, and going into untested waters. He does not have the privelege of Starfleet Regulations to give him direction in handling new situations, and therefore must procede based off his own best judgement. Also, he is the captain that behaves the most like the explorer that is the premise of the Starfleet mission.

  11. Hopefully this will help to develop his character a little. We have heard hints about his life on a cargo ship, but not much in detail. It has taken far too long for this character to recieve an episode that revolves around his character.
