  1. Since I missed the entire first season except for bits and pieces of maybe two episodes, what is the current state in the time line. I know that the Federation has not been created yet, but obviously there is a starfleet. Does starfleet have a fleet of ships, or is the Enterprise the only one they got, or one of only a few?

  2. It was very good.

When Travis stoped the other two from falling to their deaths by getting his leg caught and then they are hanging and he is in such pain...i could almost feel it with him.

I concur, that was very tense and entertaining, very well done scene.

  3. Correct me if I'm wrong but if the Borg assimilate technology from other cultures and add it to their own, why have they not decided to assimilate cloaking technology. I'm sure they've assimilated a couple of Klingon, Romulan, or some race with cloaking technology in the delta quadrant... it seems it would be a rather big advantage for a a cube to be able to cloak and it makes sense. I guess the writers never thought about it.

  4. I loved it!

My favorite part has got to be when they found the Denobulans(sp?) and they are just like, "Sorry, we're not leaveing."  And then they cralled up the walls without any ropes or anything!

Yup, that was very cool and didn't look cheesy at all.

  5. I was in class in the middle of a lecture. Someone left the room to get a snack or something and came back and informed the class via sparse details about what happened. I didn't really know much until I got home and put on CNN. I spent most of that day watching CNN and I went out with a friend at the time (girl friend now hehe) to get something to eat. She wanted to meet up because her mom was visiting New York at the time and wasn't where she was supposed to be (at a relatives or something) so she wasn't sure what was going on and was quite worried. Turns out her mother just left early and wasn't even in New York when everything occurred. But yeah, it was a tense day.

  6. I really enjoyed it

I enjoyed the ethical nature of the show with the Dr. Phlox situation. Yes, it's been done before in ST, but the way did it I was still guessing as to what the outcome would be. I had expected that the patient would choose to die, despite Phlox's best efforts to get through to him, but the fact he did get through to him surprised me... though after the speech I started to change my mind. As I said, it's been done before, but they did it well because it gave background info on Phlox's character and the circumstances were different.

As for the side story, I really enjoyed that as well. There were a couple of really good lines and the cave scenes were somewhat tense and very entertaining. The line: "MOVE or I'll shoot in you in the *buttocks* with my phase pistol" was fantastic. I also really liked Trip's determination in this episode as well (remember, I'm still somewhat new to Enterprise so I'm not completely familiar with everyone's personality.)

It wasn't a great episode but it was very enjoyable and Hoshi had more than two lines.

    7.5/10

  7. I agree.  Voyager and DS9 had alot of potential that they did not end up meeting.  I think that alot of the problem was that fans were used to Star Trek being a certain way, and those two seasons kind of broke the mold.

I totally agree because that's why I stopped watching them during their initial runs after only one season. But after I got used to the fact that they weren't TNG, they became two of my favorites, though many years after I stopped watching them initially.

  8. Both have their strengths and captain their ships rather differently.

Picard is very worried about maintaining peace and he always trys to negotiate and will only attack another ship in extreme circumstances. He is very closed with his personal life and tends to keep things professional as much as possible. He doesn't get mad easily but when he does, he becomes very powerful and authoratative. He's also more of an explorer than Janeway. Picard would get giddy over a new spieces or nebula where as Janeway would be interested, but not at the same level as Picard. Also, you would never see Picard sitting around, chatting it up, having a drink in Ten Forward with his crew.

Janeway on the other hand is more willing to show Voyager's power. She doesn't have any problems fighting back and doesn't hesitate like Picard does. She gets agitated a lot easier and doesn't worry about diplomacy as much as Picard. Initially she'll try it, but if it fails, it's no more mr. nice guy in a manner of speaking... she'll let you know that she hates you. On one hand she is more friendly with her crew, often showing up in the mess hall and being particpative in social gatherings, however, at the same time she is more strict than Picard with her crew. If you break the rules there are no ifs, ands, or buts, you will get punished (e.g. Paris losing a rank and sitting in the brig), where as Picard would let you try and justify it. She runs the ship in a more relaxed manner but when a given situation becomes serious, she is as strong and powerful as Picard in her own way.

So with that being said, I vote for Picard haha.

  9. It's hard to say. They might have ended up just finding a good class M planet to live on, because I think after 70 years their luck with the Borg, Hirogen, and who knows what else would eventually run out.

Long before then I think it would be fair to state that the Federation would come up with some new warp technology, whether it would be trans-warp or something else, in which they could get Voyager home faster.

  10. I would have been interesting to see mirror universe Troi in a similar position as mirror universe Kira. And maybe Data and Lore would be the leaders of an evil race of androids, lol.

In a mirror universe wouldn't Lore be the good one.

Possibly, but as I just watched the DS9 episode The Emperor's New Cloak, it was actually a topic of conversation among the characters. They stated that everything should be the opposite in the mirror universe. But as they began to think, not everything applied to the opposite rule, though many things did, so while the possiblity would be high to have Lore being good it's not necassarily 100% probable.

  11. The first episode I ever saw was the TNG episode Skin Of Evil (the one where Tasha dies). I think I was 7 or 8 at the time and I was with my parents visiting another family that was friends of ours I guess. I only caught the last 15 minutes. I knew what Star Trek was because my Dad watched TOS and I remembered both my parents going to Star Trek 5 in the theaters while they got a baby sitter for me (haha). Anyway, I don't really remember why or how I started liking Star Trek on a broader scope, but I didn't start watching it on a regular basis till about 1991 or 1992. And once I got into it I was totally hooked on TNG.
