  1. What condition do you find the sets when you buy them?

Everyone of the sets I have bought so far have scratches on the plastic boxes and have plastic teeth broken in the CD holder which holds the first CD in its place. Also I've had one disk scratched which thankfully was replaced.

I buy my sets through mail order and was wondering do you find the sets available from the shops in better condition?

  2. No way. I don't like the uncertainity of internet dating. I like to meet people face-face and talk to sus them out. It takes me a long time to make up my mind and usually by then I've missed my chance. I don't even like close friends or relatives match-making me. :o

  3. Hey Guys.

The eclipse looks great. Only a small part of the sun covered but the outside edge has darkened and brought out detail of the sun's surface around the sunspots. Can see different shades in the surface. Exciting.

Would love to see a total eclipse with the telescope!

    Happy. What a buzz.

Eclipse is over now. Have to enter reality and go to work!

    Who else saw the eclipse?

  4. TOMORROW Partial Solar Eclipse visible from Australia , Monday 24 November.

Click on the link below for a table with times relevant for your area. Eclipse may or may not be worthwhile for you to see depending on where you live in Australia. The link explains what to do if you have daylight savings at the moment.

    Eclipse Times

For instructions on solar projection and safe viewing use the link below. Never look at the sun with naked eyes, through sunglasses, telescopes or binoculars. The only safe methods for viewing the sun are listed in the links or use or a solar filter (on the telescope not eyepiece) or proper solar glasses made for viewing a solar eclipse.

Enjoy. I hope someone finds the partial eclipse worthwhile.

  5. Never had the chance to watch Star Trek as a kid. My family used to eagerly await our weekly dose of 'Blake Seven' on the ABC. My first taste of sci-fi.

Then we moved on to 'Hitch-hiker's Guide to the Galaxy'.

All of my friends were addicted to 'V' but I never bothered to watch.

Then I discovered many sci-fi/fantasy books in our school library and lapped them up. Heinlein, McCaffrey, Beagle, Asimov.....

Saw my first dose of Star Trek when I was in high school..Voyage Home...my boyfriend was a big fan. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.

Since I've left home I have become addicted to Star Trek in all forms.

Also like Red Dwarf, Babylon 5 and Star Gate.

  6. Thanks for the tips. I'm not going to get into the argument about the legality of downloading shows ....except to say, I choose not to download.

Trekzone...the reply you received from the tv station is part of the frustration I experience with the scheduling of Enterprise. The station's attitude is nothing more than what I would expect them to say. GRRRR!

Linda...You were posting while I was posting...Just read your post now...You and I have the same thoughts/likes and dislikes...give me quality shows like Changi, My Hero, Father Ted, Red Dwarf, Silent Witness, Born and Bred, ABC Dramas, Catalyst and more quality Australian content. There are so many British dramas and comedies of such a high quality. Surely we can produce more of our own content of the same calibre?

You're right, there are great Australian movies (need more support at the moment) but our record in TV is quite poor. Need a refocus on what is more important- our identity-originality or raking in the money and high ratings/large fan base.

I would love to see an Australian produced and written quality sci-fi. I don't think we have really explored this area.

So I'm sitting here crossing my fingers hoping that Enterprise will be on next week and that governments and tv executives wake up to themselves soon.

And oh yeah! Another gripe...At the moment I am swamped writing official educational documents full of government priorities....Smart State, Future Pathways, Literate Futures,.......... all about developing learners who are critical thinkers and problem solvers...and what do my students view ...rubbish like Big Brother, soaps and Australian Idol. Only good thing is that I can use these shows (some) in class for critical literacy.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

  7. I agree with you Captain Jean-Luc Picard that Fury would have been nice as a story arc or a 4 part episode.

Like Gottabite the episode never did sit well with me as I could not understand her anger.

Maybe it is just because I haven't seen all of the episodes. No continuinity.

I feel one episode before Fury and two after would have developed the ideas explored in this episode further.
