  1. I think only 12 episodes were made of this series before it was cancelled in mid 2003. :dude: I have only seen the last four episodes. This show was beginning to get interesting, even a little dark. Just the way I like it. Have you seen the show and what did you think? I wonder if they will put the show back on?

  2. Molokai: The Story of Father Damien Cast- David Wenham, Sam Neil, Derek Jocabi, Alice Krige, Kris Kristofferson, Peter O'Toole, Kate Cebrano..list goes on and on. Hansen's Disease colony on the island of Molokai during the mid to late 1800's. Story of Father Damien and his work there. Depressing but good, humbling and stirring. Beautiful scenery to such a depressing situation. 8/10

The Bank David Wenham, Anthony La Palagia. Bank wrecks a family, revenge is enacted in a very clever way. Thrilling. Couldn't stop watching this one. Good guys beat the banks! 8/10

Black and White Robert Carlyle, David Ngoobujjarra and Colin Friels. True story in the 1950's when a half-caste aboriginal is accused of murder in Ceduna, Australia. Fine performances, follows the story through the courts. The end has a nice tag with the accused now in his old age sums up. 8/10

Rabbit Proof FenceKenneth Brenaugh, Ningali Lawford, David Gulpilil. True story about the stolen generation set in 1931 in Western Australia. Government policy was to remove half-caste children from their families as it was seen as beneficial to the country and the Aboriginal people. Beautiful cinematography and music as a backdrop to a powerful, heart wrenching story. The three girls walk their way across 'hell on earth' to reunite with their family. Excellent. Have a box of tissues. 10/10

  3. Thanks for the laugh. I have days like that on the phone when I feel like Tasha and want to put on the message...'The person you are calling is temporarily unavailable...' Or 'The person you are calling has gone temporarily insane..'

  4. Have just been to David Bowie's Reality Tour and it was fantastic. A real mix of songs from the very beginning of his career, through the 70's and 80's to his new album. He was very relaxed though still energetic, determined to have fun with his audience and play with the old songs so at first they sounded familiar but you couldn't quite place them and then play the more familiar version. His new stuff was good and I think I will buy the album. Typically Bowie in that every song sounds different and has a different style. From really slow songs to over the top. There was only one song I wasn't sure about. You can always listen to the CD in the sound booths before you purchase the CD.

Anyway he is touring in Australia until March and then onto Asia and then America.

  5. A small town. A pub/motel/cafe combined, 1 church, 14 houses, 1 public school, 1 pool, 1 sport club, gun club, rural transaction centre (nearly ready) all on the intersection of 2 highways. Town is surrounded by cattle/wheat and sheep properties. Nearest small town 60 kilometres away. Nearest regional centres 115 kilometres away.

    Love the place!

  6. Just a thought. Please don't shoot me down!

Further talk about using the moon as a launching pad for other missions to planets like Mars worries me. I'm in two minds. I'm excited about the new knowledge and understandings we will discover and can apply to our planet but then I'm worried about the management of these missions and their impact on our Earth's resources and the environment of the planets we explore.

I would like to see a 'mindset' and treaty like Antarctica where scientific research is conducted while keeping the protection of the environment and available resources in mind. (other planets' and the Earth's)

This may be way in the future, but when Riker in First Contact said he could see New Berlin (?) on the moon from the Earth, it sent a sinking feeling in my stomach.

Does anyone else have worries about the underlying motives of these missions? Maybe I'm just a worrywart.

  7. All I know is that I wouldn't be able to wear Starfleet's engineering or science uniforms. I'd end up sending the ship into an uncontrollable spin as the ship's orbit decayed. Imagine this.....

    Wesley: "m= (g(R^2))/G G=6.67x10^-11 Nm^2/kg^2"

    Enterprise spins out of control.....

I wish I made myself do the harder sciences- Physics and Chemistry.... :dude:
