Came home tonight eager to watch Enterprise. Have waited up only to find that it has been shunted off again to broadcast another SMS based show of the most shallow concept. Gauging Australia's Gay Rating. How inane! :blink:

After suffering weeks of Australian Idol and before that Big Brother now I have to suffer this!

I feel SMS programs are just an excuse to make huge amounts of money from the people who vote in these shows.

I wish producers and tv companies would get their priorities realigned and give our country its own voice and put the money towards developing drama, comedy and movies of quality and DEPTH! These type of projects will add to our cultural quality and reflect our identity and visions for the future and of our past.

What is the tv programming like in your part of the world? Are you being inundated with SMS shows or rip offs of American 'lifestyle' shows. Are you aching to see more 'native' content on your screens?

Now that I have stepped down from the soap box, it's your turn. You can express your views for or against my gripe or add your own gripe.

:blink: Very upsetting. I liked her character a lot and like the episodes where her character was allowed to develop. I also enjoyed picking her in other trek episodes. Wonder what happened? My condolences.

Very creative Trekzone! Love the pictures. Where do you find the time? What program do you use? I bet its hideously expensive. :blink:

I voted yes on the proviso that my partner would let me overdose on Trek and not whinge, complain or make remarks so I could still enjoy my vice. No complaining about wasting my money on the DVD season sets either.

Otherwise a firm no! I would still need to be able to access and watch my favourite show. :lol:

You could say that I never left the schooling system. :blink: I would definitely support the state schooling system and know of many fine colleagues who have the kids' best interests at heart and continue to provide a safe and supportive environment where the kids can learn and enjoy their time. Mind you I don't have kids of my own and have never had to make the choice.

A suggestion: When posting a chat time would it be more useful to schedule a time as Universal Time and people in other parts of the world can add or take the appropriate amount of hours to bring their time to coincide with yours?

A search on google or something similar should bring up a Universal Time chart.

Partial Solar Eclipse in most of Australia November 24th.

Won't be as spectacular as a total eclipse.. you have to be in Antarctica to see that...darn it I was planning to be in Antarctica in November this year... Mid eclipse will be 7:32 am EST (Brisbane) and we will see 11% of the sun covered. Where Adelaide will be at 7:11am and will see 43% of sun eclipsed. Perth 5:40 am and will see 61% of the sun eclipsed. The times here are not adjusted for daylight saving time they are calculated on Universal Time. For the total eclipse the event begins about 45 mins before the times given here and finishes about 45 mins after so head outside just before the times given here.

Update ...28/10/03

Many large sunspots on the sun and high activity with solar flares and geomagnetic storms. Would be interested in hearing if anyone on the board has seen auroras this week or month.

Have been showing my class the sun through my telescope with solar filter of course. The children have been extremely excited. I've posted an updated picture for Wednesday 28 Oct taken from SOHO since I can't post the pictures we took today with the digital camera at the telescope's eyepiece.

I'd take Star Trek movies in any form. It would be fun to see a movie which wasn't TNG. That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see another TNG movie.

I applaud the efforts of these well-meaning fans. Their efforts will benefit children who require help- right in the vein of Star Trek. I thoroughly enjoyed the trailer which by the way sent waves of excitement up and down my spine in anticipation. Looks like you are having a lot of fun. Live the dream. :angry:

Both episodes wer intriguing, thoughtful and keep me glued to my seat. Which one do I prefer?

Devil in the Dark. Solving a mystery, using our resources without fully understanding the consequences, overcoming barriers and coming to a solution which benefits all. Classic TOS.

I've always held TOS close to my heart and loved the episodes which really bring Gene's vision of the Trek world across. I would like to know if there are any episodes from the other versions of Trek .... Voyager, DS9, Enterprise, TNG.....which you watched and thought that was more like the old trek..the feeling/essence of TOS... Not episodes which were directly related to TOS eg: DS9 Trials and Tribble-ations
