  1. Yes, I work. For about 23 years I was a psychotherapist working with children and their families. I later decided to take that to what I considered the next level. So for the last 16 years I have been working at a major school of medicine where I am a continuing education director, teaching continuing education workshops, and finding faculty to teach continuing education workshops for mental health professionals.

  2. When I get bored, I will often stretch out on my couch and watch the birds that come to my feeders or go out to my flower garden and work on the yard. Sometimes I will go fishing, or go for a walk and tune into nature. Then again I may pull out some good music, listen to the tunes and day dream.

  3. I was out of town over the weekend and missed getting into this discussion early. But I'd like to say that Voyager is my very favorite STAR TREK series. In fact, it is what brought me back to Star Trek after the original series went off. I did not warm up to The Next Generation until much later, after it went into reruns. Plus, I never liked Deep Space Nine. The strong female roles on Voyager with the plots that were centered around them really appealed to me. I liked Captain Janeway, B'Elanna Torres, and Seven of Nine. I also liked Kes, and even the female villains. When I first came to this web site I posted numerous topics in the forum that related to Voyager. Some of them were responded to quite well, others were not. I personally have my own Voyager library. As I taped many of my favorite episodes, when the reruns were on UPN. I truly believe when Voyager reruns were removed from UPN, and not picked up anywhere else, this was even a bigger blow to the Voyager fans, who were trying to stay connected to the series. Spike TV has reruns of Deep Space Nine and The Next Generation. The Sci-Fi channel shows reruns from the original series. Most of us Voyager fans have no way of seeing our favorite episodes now except to buy the DVD's, which I won't, because I have the episodes that I like................and I know I'm in the minority here......but I am not a big DVD fan so I won't be purchasing the DVD episodes.......................Sorry but I will take my surround sound VHS tapes any day over DVD'S.

  4. I agree, the glory of just being there and winning a medal, any medal, seems to be gone. The press seems to focus only on the gold medals, as if the silver and bronze are symbolic of failure.

The meaning behind the Olympics are gone.  Its really sad what happen to the games.  :dude:  There is too much money that is given to thise whe win the gold.  People who are in poorer countries don't stand a change in winning a medal.

  5. Some of my favorite quotes:

" There but for the grace of God go I."

"It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

"Think not that you can direct the course of Love. For Love, if it finds you worthy directs your course."

"Pleasure is a freedom song. But it's not freedom."

  6. Hello to all of you who were here when I took my leave of absence, and to those who have joined since I have been gone. I wanted you to know that I have missed the website, and missed being a part of the discussions. Even during my absence, I would from time to time visit, and read the latest posts. And I have noticed how the site has truly changed. I am anxious to catch up with all of the updates. And I am also anxious to get to know those who have joined in recent months. I am officially back now. And even though there are still challenges for me, I have them in a better perspective now...........see you on the boards!!!!!!! :hammer:

  7. Ii was very unpopular, not because I was a nerd. It was because I was very quiet, and most did not know how to take me. my quietness came from being rather insecure back then. It took me a while to come into my own..........I really needed to get away from home, and from a very intimidating Mom, in order to do this.

  8. I have dsylexia, and so does my son. I have learned to live with it, and compensate for it. My work demands a lot of writing. I also wrote and published a children's book about four years ago. Learning disabilities are challenging but they can be dealt with.

  9. I drive one of the hybrid electric/gasoline engine cars..........the 2004 Toyota Prius.

Awesome! Those are the best out there in my opinion! 50/50 engine. Not the joke of a electirc assist they're trying to pass off as hybrid in the new pick-ups and SUV's...<img src='http://www.webolutionary.com/smilies/sfm-(I'm trying to say a bad word but can't).gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Here's a comparison of the 2004 Prius to the new 'hybrid':

GM Comparison of Prius and Silverado Hybrids

Not much of a comparison is it. I thought the whole point of the hybrid concept was to get better mileage and be kinder to the environment. the Chevy truck that you've pointed out has such poor mileage that I don't see why anyone who want to buy it, as a hybrid. I understand that the Honda civic hybrid also gets good mileage

  10. I'm sure that some have noticed I've not been on the web site much lately. So I thought I'd come on today just to say that there is a lot of unrest going on in my personal life right now, with issues that demand a great deal of energy and focus...............I will return when some of these issues have reached their conclusion.........But I will be thinking of you, and look forward to retuning when I can. Take Care...............

  11. She was the one, and she's gone. I can't really explain it further without going into an enormus amount of detail, and this isn't the medium to do so

    Chronic,

You are hurt now. You gave your heart to someone who did not love you. And even though you really loved her, she is not the one for you. I sincerely hope in trying to be a friend to her now,you won't allow her to hurt you again, because you are still very vulnerable. It might be helpful in getting you over this pain, if you could talk with a counselor. It is possible for you to love again....you just want to be able to make a wiser choice next time and get to know the person better before you give your heart. <_<

  12. I like some of most music types, except rap and blues. I especially like music from the 50's and 60's rock and roll era. I' an "old hippie.' So the 70's music with it's ballads has fond memories. I was also in many night spots and and on the dance floor when disco was the "hot." I like a little country, and some classical too...................So basically I'm a diverse creature when it comes to music <_< .
