  1. A captain is about a lot more than the technology they can offer.  Leave that to the engineer.  Captains need people skills, people.  Seven has next to none.  Say good bye Voyager, hello assimilation.

As much as I too like Seven. I agree totally with what you have said here...................

  2. Although I am late to this subject........I hope you are still checking out your post. Voyager is a great series. From the theme of being lost in space, trying to find a way back home, to the challenges of integrating two diverse crews, the development and growth of the personalities as they assume new responsibilities on the ship, the relationship and personal issues that are woven into the various plots, the strong female role models that are very powerful messages to female and male fans of Star Trek, as well as the excitement of and continuous interactions with the Borg........are just a few of many reasons why Voyager is not a series to be taken lightly.................

  3.

Seriously, Gotabite, please tell me you did NOT tell somebody that they knew how to use their looks to get what they want, did you?

No....not exactly......But I will share something after a few more comments that has really caused some serious changes in my life. I will write it up in my personal log. So if you are interested, check that forum

  4. Are you asking if a person made that observation of another - would that observation necessarily be negative?

I think that would depend on how the person making the observation felt about it.  Some people would speak the words with awe and others with cynicism.

On the topic of using your looks, I have made the observation that "looks" does include personality to some extent.  Maybe being beautiful gives you the confidence you need but looks don't do you any good if you don't "use" them.

What I am asking here is if you make the statement about someone that they know how to use their looks to get what they want, does that have to mean that you are saying something negative about them? Can it not also mean that they are also using their looks as one of their assets? Can it not also mean that they know their looks are a powerful feature that can make others take notice, get them in the door so to speak, and then see the other qualities and features they have going for themselves. Once I have a few more comments. I will say why I am asking this question. Thanks........

  5. I would like to ask a question here that is very important to me. I am not a very conservative thinker in my views about life, people and situations. So very often statements that I make, when I mean no harm or disrespect, have gotten me in a lot of trouble..............such is the case at this moment......So I want your honest opinion........If you make the statement that someone knows how to use their looks to get what they want.....does that always have to mean something negative or disrespectful?.........Thanks

  6.

Never underestimate the power of your actions.

With one small gesture you can change a person's life. For better or for worse.

God puts us all in each other's lives to impact one another in some way.

    Look for God in others.

"Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."

Ace, this is a very powerful and moving story you have shared here; one I wish more would truly take to heart. What you did for Kyle the first time you saw him saved his life.........and it also brought into your life a truly wonderful human being that has made a huge impact on the person you have become today. You both have become very important to each other. Your stroy points out how we should never assume that because people seem different because of what we see on the surface, or how they behave on the surface, means that we could never have anything in common with them, or enjoy their company. There is an old movie, called "The Breakfast Club." if you've never seen it, I wish you could rent it. I think you would enjoy it very much.

  7. I'd like to be aboard a star ship with Alterego at the helm as captain, because he reminds me of Picard. As his second mate, I'd like to see Takara Soong. For not only would she bring Data to the table, but also her own level of insight. As security officer, I'd like to see The Unicornhunter. I personally would feel in good hands with her having that authority. And last but not least, I'd go for Space Tigger as chief engineer. I think he's pretty cool, and could probably take good care of most warp engines. :dude::bow:

  8. So, you are the man...

    Well, I'm a Voyager Fan.

It's got an awesome theme song....

Could hear it all the day long.

    Captain Janeway and the crew,

    Bring powerful episodes to you.

    I'm a Trekkie with a spot,

For Voyager deep, deep in my heart. :dude::bow:

  9. I guess what I was thinking when I posted this topic was that it didn't matter about the line of command pertaining to who should take charge I just wanted to know which of the two you thought would be the better captain........My view of Chakotay after he became second in command on Voyager was that unlike Captain Picard who consulted with his second in command constantly, Chakotay never had much authority. However, input was frequently coming from Tuvok to Captain Janeway. So I had more of a feel for Tuvok's leadership abilities and his style. My main experience with Chakotay's leadership abilities was during the episode Scrpion II. But for me personally, if Janeway had no longer been aboard Voyager, in view of all the perils and obstacles a captain would face in the Delta quadrant, I think in spite of his limited opportunities to take a leadership role prior to this experience, I'd vote for Chakotay....the fact that most Vulcan's(exception T'Pol) primarily operate by logic would put the ship and the crew at a major disadvantage. I would therefore feel better knowing that Chakotay was in charge. As everything can not be left to logic.............This is just my personal view.
