  1. I'm glad they are not re-editing the scenes into the movie. I wish they would include the extended reception scene so we could hear of Blue Skies at the reception. How about a bonus music video or something.

I have a problem with re-editing scenes into Star Trek movies because of canon problems. Would the theatrical release be canon or would things that are in the DVD be canon? You know how some DVDs (like Independence Day) had both the theatrical version and a special edition version. Maybe with Star Trek movies they could have a canon version and a non-canon version. :)

A Blues Skies music video, hmmm. . .a good excuse for all of us to see and hear Data, that sounds great! As for the DVD I kinda like the option of seeing the movie as it was in the theaters, and then going to the bonus section and checking out deleted scenes. I think it is strange to have a movie one way in the theater, and a different one on VHS or DVD(at least with added footage). Sometimes it works out OK to add the extra scenes right into the movie like the Director's Edition of The Abyss (that wasn't too bad with the added scenes).

  2. I haven't read the book you are talking about but I don't think Data would have to be involved with another android.  There are species in the Star Trek world that have very long life spans.  Remember when Guinan joked about her father being more than 700 years old in Rascals.

No, I don't think he particularly has to be involved with an android either. But, that was the case in this book, which by the way you should check out.

  3. Am I the only honest person here?!?!?

What, about my IQ? Nope, sorry, I AM being honest! My IQ was tested a total of 4 times in my life and I am only 22 now!

Or was it about getting the right answer without cheating and scrolling down? Nope, didn't do that either. I love those games, you can easily find similar ones in Mensa books!

  4. She was. And I thought it was...good that he ended up falling in love with an android. Anyone else and he would have out-lived them, and that would have ben devastating for him. I didn't like that she left in the end. I mean, I know she had to because it's a book, but I thought her reason for leaving was kind of thin.

Yes, I thought that it was predictable that she would leave him, since it was a novel, but, geez. . .He's already lost Tasha, and Jenna, and in this book. . .Rhea. That is so sad, just when he starts to figure love out. . .the girl is out the door.

  5. BRENT Breakes??? Ooook then.

In Trekkies she talks about how she had found out that he lived not far from her home. When she went on her balcony she could see houses that were close to his. I notice she has updated her site in quite some time - ever since he moved.

OK, now I KNOW that we are definately NOT that crazy. If I were living near him I most certainly would not be a peeping Tom, even if he is gorgeous  ! That is incredibly RUDE! However, if I passed him in the street or at a store I would not resist a simple smile and hello :) ! But, Brent Breaks?????? :)

  6. I actually quite liked Kes. She did well for a nice character. You know, usually the interesting ones have troubled pasts, interesting flaws (or they're just perfect, like Data), but she had almost no problems, and still managed to be interesting.

As for Immortal Coil - it had a great, very complicated plot and character development and it WAS ALL ABOUT DATA!! (and Rhea, who liked Data and said such nice things about him, awww  )

Yes, but that is EXACTLY why I liked Immortal Coil SOOO much! Rhea was a rather interesting character too.

  7. I feel so old.   I'm old enough to be your mother.

Come on soong_girl. . .you are not old! You are only as old as you feel. :)

You can be any age on the internet.

Honestly though I'll be hitting a milestone this year - 40.

See what I mean, you're younger than BOTH my parents, my boss, and Data (Hey, I HAD to add him in you know! :) )

Yeah my mom and I can't wait for our special milestone (2 years and counting down!!) My mom will turn 50  and I will turn 25   in the same year (so she'll be celebrating gold and I'll be celebtraing silver!) My mom simply loves the idea of turning 50, she is thinking of throwing a huge party!

  8. Captain Jean-Luc Picard French with an English accent, kinda grumpy and arrogant, but magnificent.

I don't agree with their description of Picard (the part in read and italics). And what is with their links. The one for Data goes to the site of someone who is a bit obsessed. She is the one who was in Trekkies with the photo album with millions of pictures that looked the same and took the "Brent Breaks" on her balcony.

And people call us Soong Sisters crazy :) ?

Also I completely agree, that is really not such a good description of Picard. As for the French with an English accent part. . .with Universal translators in the 24th Century, does it really matter that he doesn't have a French accent?

  9. That's one good reason. Also, it's a school! (and probably a big one). You don't always meet all the people in your grade, especially not in other grades.

Exactly what I said, dsbs! I graduated with 407 other kids in 1998 and there were over 2100 more kids in that school. . .I personally can name around 100 (maybe even less, of course one I COULD name was my sister-she graduated 2 years after me!)

I went to school in some very sparsely populated areas. From grades 5 - 8 we had 2 grades per class. When I was in grade 8, the grade 7 class in our room had 3 kids. My high school took kids from a large area but we still had maybe 200 kids in the whole high school. My final year of high school we had maybe 40 kids in grade 12 of which only 10 graduated.

I think the smallest class I ever was in was Precalculus in high school there were 6 of us, well, there was 4 of us in University Physics in my sophomore year of college . . .so that'd be my smallest class I was in. Largest was 42. . .in Honors Physics in my senior year of H.S.

  10. Do you have any of the seasons Yillara?

No, since I am majoring in a field that requires a HUGE amount of laboratory classes, money is kinda tight right now.

That and I became so sick last year that I was forced to withdraw from school, before the semester ended, so now I didn't have enough credits to keep my scholarship. So I am trying to save money to go back to school, since I am only about 3 or four semesters away from getting my BS in Interdiscliplinary Studies (I am a senior right now). I am recording my favorite episodes to VHS right now, and may purchase the DVD's at a later date. But first and foremost is the DVD of ST:Nemesis!

  11. I kinda got that impression dsbs. But then again, does age really mean much when your talking trek, I mean if I wanted to (and the parents agreed) I could take my preschool gymnastics class into a TV room and have them watch TOS on sci fi. And then if they like it they'd start talking about it and if they keep it up by six or seven, they could easily talk to people who watched TOS first run . So I do not think age makes a difference in talking Trek!

And like you, I rarely give my name and age on the internet, how can you be sure what will happen to anything you do or say? I am proud of my name, and I thouroughly enjoy my age, but I don't want anything bad to happen either!

Do I sound THAT immature? lol

I have a cousin who's ten and he likes Star Trek - as I said, it doesn't matter how old you are

No, but in a previous thread on the other board, I think somewhere it was mentioned that you were really young when TNG started. And no, you don't sound immature, no more immature than I do.

  12. Brent- almost every movie he was was in(especially ID4 and Introducing Dorothy Dandridge) - I agree with that Master of Disguise remark  , even though my sister thought it was highly amusing! :)

Patrick Stewart(Moby (Please stop me from cursing), Excalibur, Lady Jane, A Christmas Carol, X-Men, Conspiracy Theory, ect.),

Alfre Woodard- Lily Sloane -(Heart And Soul, Miss Firecracker)

Alice Krige-Borg Queen-(Sleepwalkers, Dinotopia-was pretty good, and my brother said she was pretty good in Children of Dune)

  13. I think that this is a great way for people to become accustomed to Star Trek. Although I have known Trek for about 16 1/2 years total.

And the description of Data- I love that, even though there should be more written. He is not just cute, after all. . .there IS SOOOOOO much more to him!

  14. We are forgetting to give some credit to other people as well.  I know the theme they used on TNG is different from the familiar music from the movies.  The TNG theme was a combination of music by Jerry Goldsmith and Alexander Courage.

It is amazing in this day and age that they would have new scores written for every episode.  All of the composers who worked on the series need to be given so much credit.

    That is so true, soong_girl!

  15. I agree, even though I REALLY REALLY want a DS9 movie. I Q movie would be good. They could do some really good graphics in a movie for Q.

Then again I think Odo would be great in a movie too. lol

Didn't Q appear in DS9? I don't watch DS9, but I think I read somewhere that he did. If so Q could always make an appearance in a DS9 movie.

  16. I'm looking forward to seeing this episode.  It sounds great.  From what I gather no one on Earth (other than the scientist who find them) and on the Enterprise will actually SEE the Borg and they certainly won't know that is what they are.  I think it will work.

They have to not see them, after all in TNG they state that they had never met/seen the Borg before. Even though I don't normally watch Enterprise, I think it may work. After all, who would know until we all watch it and see?

  17. That chronology follows my second scenario. I'll have to try to find that book. Who wrote it? I still don't understand why it took the Crystalline Entity so long to attack. The fact that they had drawings of it hanging in the lab seems to indicate that it orbitted for a while too. Strange!

Michael and Denise Okuda. I loaned that book out but never got it back, so I cannot check for certain on the dates, but since I am such a fan of Data. . .I kinda studied his bio and the chronology and encyclopedia.

  18. That's one good reason. Also, it's a school! (and probably a big one). You don't always meet all the people in your grade, especially not in other grades.
