removed 0 Posted December 3, 2003 I'll have to think long and hard about this one, but I figured it was a good topic starter, so what is your all-time favourite Christmas song?
Theunicornhunter 2 Posted December 3, 2003 Most beautiful is "O Holy Night" but difficult to sing. General favorite, Silent Night

LadyNarana 0 Posted December 3, 2003 My favorite religious song is "O Little Town of Bethlehem." Actually, "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" is my favorite, but most people don't consider that one of the religious carols. My favorite secular Christmas song is "Carol of the Bells." Favorite version is by Johnny Mathis.

ensign_beedrill 0 Posted December 4, 2003 Mine is "O Holy Night." It's a beautiful song, and I just love to listen to it. It doesn't matter what voice part is singing it... bass to soprano... it sounds awesome! My second favorite is "Carol of the Bells." It sounds best when there's a choir singing it a cappella. But it's also good with an orchestra, and there are so many variations of it... it's all good. And my third favorite is "Sleighride." Not so much for the words. It just sounds wonderful when it's just an orchestra. I especially love it when sound effects are added with musical instruments. (Clip-clops of hooves, whip cracking, horse whine with a trumpet.) I just love that. And finally... one of my least favorite Christmas songs is "Let It Snow." I like snow and everything... but I just don't care for this song. (Perhaps having to sing it many times during choir practice one year has something to do with it.)

removed 0 Posted December 4, 2003 I've thought long and hard trying to isolate my favourites, and I thought of "Three Ships" by Sting, and "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas". Those are my two favs.
mj 7 Posted December 5, 2003 I have to join that crowd that mentioned " O Holy Night " as a favorite. That is my favorite. A friend and I sang it relentlessly when we were freshmen college students. A second favorite, which I cannot sing well, is the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. I think it is so appropriate to remember that Christ's resurrection is why we rejoice over His birth. I also love Little Drummer Boy, Do You Hear What I Hear? ( or Do You See What I See?), Joy To The World, Silent Night, O Come O Come Emmanuel, and others. When we were all still in our parents home, we would gather around the piano to sing all the songs my youngest brother(the family musician) could play, which was just about all of them, on Chrstmas Eve, while my mother cooked in the kitchen. Happier times........
Kyalia 0 Posted December 5, 2003 "Carol of the Bells", by far. We used to sing it in chorus (I'm a 2nd soprano who can double as 1st alto and generally did). I also like one other one... what was the name...? (OOOOO Gloria, Hosanna in Excelsis).... There are several others that I sort of like, but what I can't stand is when the radio starts overplaying them.

hangon 3 Posted December 16, 2004 (edited) My all time fav x-mas song is by WHAM...."LAST CHRISTMAS" ...this song is pretty sad but i remember strutting my stuff to it at the school x-mas dance... Click For Spoiler Last christmas, I gave you my heart But the very next day, you gave it away This year to save me from tears I'll give it to someone special (X2) Once bitten and twice shy I keep my distance, but you still catch my eye Tell me baby, do you recognise me? Well, it's been a year, it doesn't surprise me (Happy Christmas) I wrapped it up and sent it With a note saying "I love you" I meant it Now I know what a fool I've been But if you kissed me now, I know you'd fool me again (Repeat chorus) A crowded room, friends with tired eyes I'm hiding from you and your soul of ice My god I thought you were someone to rely on Me? I guess I was a shoulder to cry on A face on a lover with a fire in his heart A man undercover but you tore me apart (ooh, ooh) Now i've found a real love, you'll never fool me again (Repeat chorus X2) (Gave you my heart) (You gave me away) (A face on a lover with a fire in his heart) (A man undercover but you tore me apart) (Maybe, next year) (I'll give it to someone) (I'll give it to someone special) (I'll give it to someone) (I'll give it to someone special) Ooh, give me something in return Hold my heart and watch it burn (I'll give it to someone) (I'll give it to someone special) I thought you were here to stay How can love be for a day? (I thought you were someone special) (Gave you my heart) (I'll give it to someone) (I'll give it to someone) Last christmas I gave you my heart You gave it away (I'll give it to someone) (I'll give it to someone) Edited December 16, 2004 by hangon
