Sorry you had such a depressing Easter Indy. I didn't see my kids on Easter this year either. I did take a ride down to see my parents..So that was good..

Wow, what an emotional roller-coaster the last couple of days have been. I'm exhausted, I have a big, honkin' headache, but all is well.

It seems like winter here in Humboldt County again. Constant rain, which is good for the marijuana crops, but not so good for morale sometimes. I'm ready for the rainy weather to be over, but of course it rains here all year. I need a trip to Las Vegas!!! B)

I am a bit dismayed. It seems everytime I come here, I am insulted by one topic or another. I know that is bound to happen, but it has been happening too often lately. The portal page is full of topics demeaning Democrats for one reason or another. I don't go to Kronos and I don't read the topics because they are offensive to me, and maybe there's a balance of opinions there, but I still have to see topic names that are obviously anti-Democrat. And now there's a topic where everybody is saying bad things about parents. Well, I am a parent, I pride myself on being a parent, I am first and foremost a parent. If there is one thing in my life I will always be, it is a parent. The consensus of opinion on that thread is that one should escape one's parent's as soon as humanly possible. I think they are failing to take into account that they are hearing only one side of the story. Obviously, I don't fit in here. So, I think I'll pull a CJLP and take a "leave of absence" at least until I calm down. Believe me, sometimes it isn't easy coming here and seeing things that attack the very essence of who you are. Especially if it happens to occur at a time when your strength of resolve maybe isn't at it's peak. Since I just got a phone call yesterday from my daughter and she is terribly homesick and can't come home for a couple more months, and I'm feeling extremely torn about her being away from home at such a young age. This was not the right time to be reading opinions from boardmembers about parents being evil.

I am quickly approaching the level of Super Q in trivia. I should attain that goal in another week or so (that is if master_q doesn't pull another math or physics week, lol). So I won't be posting or probably even reading for awhile, I'll just simply go to the trivia forum and answer questions. That's the most fun anyway.

I want to have my daughter's new room all freshly painted by the time she comes home. She chose the colors last time she was here. I have the walls washed and the patching done, just have to do a little sanding and I'm ready to paint. I am very anxious to see how it will look. I'm doing a chair rail, so I have to get that and stain it and I might do a wallpaper border. I'm excited about the finished project. I think it will look great.

So goodbye, for now.

I'm just storing this here for future use.

It's 3 o'clock in the morning and I've been laying awake thinking about this so I have to write something down. My daughter is home for a few weeks while she's in between sessions at the ballet school she attends. The day after she got home, she began attending dress rehearsals of Sleeping Beauty, the production that her former ballet school was doing here in town. She was attending mostly to visit with her former instructor and her friends with whom she had been dancing for years before leaving for the big city and to take class since dancers can't just stop practicing when they have a break.

This is a long story so anybody who is actually reading this may choose to leave now.

Anyway, the Company was doing two school performances and my daughter had volunteered to serve as usher during these morning performances. On the second day, one of the dancers hurt her foot during her performance and ended up walking off stage due to the injury. (Wasn't a solo, so it wasn't a huge issue.) After thinking about it for about two seconds, my daughter volunteered to learn some of this dancer's roles and to perform in the evening performance that night. Her instructor was thrilled, not wanting to over-stress the injured dancer, but expressed concern about learning the part so quickly since the rest of the Company had been in rehearsals for months. But she set out to learn the part, which she accomplished in approximately 4 hours. She performed as "Fairy of the Crystal Fountain" to sold-out crowds for the next three nights. She was awesome. Yes, I'm her mother, so you would expect me to say that, but keep in mind that this is a professional-quality production with choreography by Marius Petipa, not some small-town watered down version of the well-known ballet. This particular ballet is known as one of the more challenging ones, with over 100 dancers and about 150 costumes. The entire production was spectacular and I'm so glad my daughter got to be a part of it.

So I've gushed long enough, and please forgive me for doing so. It's probably worse since it's 3:15 AM, but this is probably about the only time of day that I can post in my Personal Log without the mods converging on it immediately after posting. :P That's never happened before and I really don't understand why I'm being scrutinized so closely. Oh well, no matter. This is my Log and I'll brag about my daughter all I want. If I've said anything really over the top, I'll edit later today.

My daughter will return to Big City in about 3 weeks for the summer session, will then be home for about a month, and return again for the year-round session. Nutcracker rehearsals will begin shortly thereafter.

Ok, I'm done rambling. Those who actually made it this far, I congratulate you. You have great tolerance for middle-of-the-night maternal gushing.

Goodnight, STF

Oh, yeah. Why is my Personal Log being invaded by BORG??? :P

Great log entry Indy ! So happpy for your daughter..Sounds like she is quite a dancer. That was quite impressive that she was able to learn that part so quickly..Must be thrilling for you..

BTW, this is your log..You can say whatever you want..But you already know that. As for it being invaded by Borg..I have no idea..
