Gummy 0 Posted May 20, 2007 Pretty busy day yesterday. - After working til noon, I took my car out on a test ride. I took it through all the gears and burned rubber all the way up the street! Tomorrow the front end gets aligned and the mechanical repairs will be finished. The only thing left is for the painter to fix up this stripe he screwed up, put on all the decals and emblems and put the interior back in. then she's finally done! - When I got home, my wife started giving me a hard time about always taking her van when I let one of my drivers use my work van. I decided to fix this problem once and for all. I packed her and my son into the van and we went car shopping for her. I ended up buying her a 2004 Anniversary Edition Mustang. I bet I don't hear squat about the van anymore..... - Had dinner while participating in last nights chat and then it was off to bed. My father bought one of the Original Mustangs when they first came out. I think it cost like $6800 back then. My mother was pissed because it could only hold four people and there was eight of us (Mom, Dad and six kids). Not very practical. But very cool to be seen in. Theunicornhunter 2 Posted May 20, 2007 I hope one day, my husband will buy me a car just to shut me up. That's the perfect marriage, right there. Actually, making enough money to buy your own car sounds pretty ideal to me.
Kor37 9 Posted May 21, 2007 Pretty busy for most of the day: - Took one of my vans in for an oil change and tune-up. - Went shopping for an alarm system for the new Mustang. - Went to a Ford dealership and bought a Lojack system for the Mustang. - Bought a new radiator for one of my other work vans. - Now I'm eating some lunch. Then I'm going to go and install that radiator.
Gummy 0 Posted May 21, 2007 Are you feeling any better? I know that you've got things that you have to get done, but it's gotta be tough when you're not feeling 100%. Trust me, I know that feeling all too well.
Vulcan_lover 1 Posted May 21, 2007 Ya, How's the foot been Kor? Still painful? By the way, like the new Avatar? I'm trying to get back to my roots....
Kor37 9 Posted May 22, 2007 I'm feeling much better. My cold is just about gone except for this nagging cough and the cordozone finally seems to have done something for my foot. I can walk on it with a lot less pain now. Its still only a temporary measure. The bone spur still needs to be taken care of. I didn't do all that much today. I caught up on my paperwork, made hotel reservations for Atlantic City and went to the bank. Didn't do much else. Tomorrow will be a busier day. Got lots to do. Kor37 9 Posted May 24, 2007 What a miserable day I had yesterday!!! My plan was to rent a truck and take all of the leftover newspapers and magazines from my warehouse to the recycling plant. This is something that should have taken maybe 3 hours. On Tuesday, I called up U-Haul and asked them if they had a dock-level truck (A truck who's height is equal to the height of a standard truck dock). They said they had a 26 foot truck and it was dock level so I reserved it. Yesterday, I go there at 10:00 am to get the truck. They pull it around and it looks a bit low to me so I ask again "Are you sure this is a dock-level truck?" They assured me it was. I drive the truck to my warehouse and sure enough, it was about 3 feet below the level of the dock. I called U-Haul back up and the manager answered. I told him that this was not a dock level truck. His response:" We don't have any dock-level trucks"........... I asked him if his employees were aware of that fact since they assured me multiple times that what they gave me was indeed a dock-level truck. He said that the girl that rented it to me didn't know what that meant.......... :P After a few choice words about the incompetence of him and his crew, I returned the truck. I then called up Ryder truck rental. They told me they had just the truck I need. So I drove down there and got a truck from them. I could tell that this was the correct truck. Naturally, it cost about twice what the U-Haul truck would have cost...... I got the truck to my warehouse and my son and I proceeded to load it with 10 pallets of newspapers and magazines. I then drove to the recycling plant. I had never been there before so I didn't know what to expect. When I got there, I drove onto the truck scale and they directed me to a dock. When I got there, it was the wrong dock. It was the dock for loose paper, not palletized paper like I had. After about 45 minutes of wasted time, I finally got to the right place. They removed my pallets and gave me back empty pallets to take back to my warehouse. After dropping them off, I headed to a gas station as I had to return the truck filled with diesel. Just as I turned into the gas station, the motor cut off. I barely avoided crashing into the diesel pump and brought the truck to a stop. I tried to restart it but it wouldn't start. I called Ryder and they told me they will send out a mechanic. The Ryder truck rental place was about 10 minutes away. 45 minutes later, the mechanic finally arrives...... Apparently a wire had come loose from the motor. He reattaches it and the truck starts. We both take off at the same time. I got about 50 feet down the road and the truck cuts out again!..... I immediately call Ryder to tell them to call the mechanic up and tell him to get back there. Now this guy couldn't have gotten more than a half mile away from me when this happened. They told me he would be right there. 10 minutes pass.........15 minutes pass.......no mechanic. I call back. I asked them where this mechanic was since all he had to do was make a u-turn and get back here. They didn't know where he was. 15 more minutes pass and I am royally pissed off. I call back. They now tell me that they had no way to contact the mechanic and had to wait til he got all the way back to the shop before sending him out again............ 15 more minutes and he finally arrives. This time I told him that he was not to leave and to follow me back to the truck rental place. I finally got there and gave them a piece of my mind . I couldn't understand how a huge company like theirs had no way to contact their drivers. It was inconceivable to me. They finally agreed not to charge me anything for the truck rental. This made me feel a bit better since the rental was about $100. I finally got home at 6:30 pm. And How Was YOUR day??????

Gummy 0 Posted May 24, 2007 I hate being stolen from. It's happened to me before and none of what was taken was ever recovered. I just want five minutes with the thieves. They'd never steal anything from anyone else ever again.

Kor37 9 Posted May 24, 2007 Didn't do too much today. - The LoJack technician came to the house and installed the system in the new Mustang. - Went to the bank to cover the check we gave to the dealership. - Eric and I went to see Spider-Man 3. Good movie. I'm surprised there hasn't been a thread about it.
Kor37 9 Posted May 26, 2007 Another super long day at work yesterday. In my business, there is no TGIF. We hate Fridays! Today, I'm going to install a new steering wheel in my car. After that, I have to start getting the house and grounds ready for our annual Memorial Day bash we hold here at Casa Kor every year. My son Eric mowed the lawn yesterday so at least thats done. I have to re-stain 5 of our picnic tables and generally start cleaning the place up. I was thinking about opening the pool up but its going to take too much time so I'll wait until after Memorial Day to do that. Later on, I'll go to church and then hang out at the Saturday Night Chat for awhile. I felt a bit bad yesterday because I'm not sure but I may have caused an auto accident. I was driving the new Mustang home. I was approaching a light. I really didn't feel like stopping because I was so tired from work and just wanted to get home. I blew through the light just as it turned red. I looked in my rear view mirror and watched a van which was behind me also go through the light. Now, it was red when I went through it, so I don't know what this lady was thinking. In the middle of the intersection, a car from the other direction plowed right into the driver's side of the van behind me! I was thinking that could have been me. If that had happened to me with my wife's new Mustang, you would not be reading this post because I would be a dead man by now..........and I'm not talking about being dead from the accident. My wife would have killed me in spectacular fashion................
Kor37 9 Posted May 27, 2007 Busy day today trying to get ready for our annual Memorial Day Bash. After work, I bought another picnic table. It had an octagon shape with seats attached. Its made out of oak so it weighs a ton. I was going to stain it today but I don't think it will dry in time so I'll wait until after tomorrow to do that. My wife is out right now buying even more food. Tomorrow after work, I'll buy all the beer and ice and prepare that. I've got my R2D2 giant cooler ready and I'll put the soda in there. Later on today, I'll set up the volley ball net and get the horseshoe pits ready. Then I'll be in good shape I think.
Kor37 9 Posted May 28, 2007 Wheeew! I'm finally done getting ready for Korfest 2007. Everything is ready to go. Now I'm just chillin' for a bit waiting for hundreds of people to decend upon my house! They should start pulling in within the hour. I'm anxiously awaiting the time to crack open the ceremonial "First Beer Of The Day"......

Kor37 9 Posted May 29, 2007 Thanks for the invite oh wait was not opps Odo, you have a standing invitation to come to any of my parties. This goes to the rest of you here as well. All you gotta do is come down to Baltimore... The annual Korfest was a complete success yesterday. I'm sitting here now totally hungover. I vaguely remember going to work a few hours ago, handing off some paperwork to my assistants and then immediately coming back home. I'm looking out now over the grounds of casa Kor and thinking about what a mess I have to clean up today........ The only mishap we had yesterday was when one kid slipped and fell into my Koi pond. Luckily, the pond isn't deep and he got out right away. Good thing I don't keep pirhannas in there..... We keep pheasants here too. As luck would have it, a few baby pheasants hatched out of their eggs the day before yesterday so the baby pheasants were a big hit too. And no.....we don't eat them.... Besides cleaning the place up, the only thing I have on my agenda today is.........SLEEP..... :sleep3:
