  1. I don't watch it regularly but I have watched it on occcassion and I like it.

Same here. When I was younger, we watched the Saget version regularly. Now I just catch a rerun every now and then on ABC Family.

I can't decide which version I like best, though. Saget was overly corny, but still good.

I've always thought Bergeron was a good host, first on some FOX morning show, then Hollywood Squares. Plus, he likes Trek so much that he's been in 2 ENT episodes.

I think I had the most fun, though, when Daisy Fuentes and John Fugelsank(sp) were the hosts. Overacted, yes, but still funny.

  2. This is a tough decision...

After thinking about it, I do think the kid was in the right. That's when his mother was able to call him, so that was when he was able to talk to her. Not allowing cell phone usage during lunch hour is assenine, imo.

If he was completely disrespectful, he did deserve some punishment. However, I'm with Madame Butterfly; we need to know what kind of attitude he received before we can pass judgment. I've dealt with a few overzealous teachers before. You can enforce rules, but don't cross the line of civility without cause.

As for cell phones in schools, I don't see a problem with it whatsoever as long as they are kept quiet and not used during class times. If they are used during breaks, what's the big deal? For the example gul nodrog gave, they could've just as easily made those (incredibly tactless) calls from a payphone outside (most public schools have those, right?).

Also, I don't know how school policies differ, but confiscating for the day is fine. But if a school official tried to confiscate my cell phone, or any of my personal belongings, with the intention of keeping them.....

NO ONE has the rights or the grounds to do that. It's an often expensive item paid for with the kid's or the parent's own money. Taking it may reduce problem occurances, but it's still stealing.

  3. Shatner should definitely be grateful, but his career is also still thriving compared to other Trek actors. In Brent Spiner's case, I feel his popularity as Data may have type-cast him a bit. Without Trek, he may have had no career. With Trek, his future career choices may be strongly limited.

As for Ewan, I agree. Fans who ask questions like that, in Trek or Wars, scare me too.

Actually, I agree with everything he said, but he should be incredibly grateful as it will give him a ton o' moolah. He probably IS grateful; you just can't tell from that interview.

Not nearly as grateful as Hayden Christiansen should be, but that's another story...

  4. I've wondered about the Andorian issue for a while myself...

Well, we know that the Vulcans advance very slowly. I can't remember Soval's exact quote, but it took the Vulcans 10-100 times as long to reach the level of technology that Earth is at in ENT. Granted, the Vulcans likely didn't have help, but the level of care and deliberation they put into everything would still put them behind the learning curve. I assume that Earth passed Vulcan's level of technology rather quickly, as in, soon after ENT.

Vulcan's obviously have far less advanced ships in TNG times, but they probably put more effort into helping the joint Federation to grow rather than focusing on their own tech. We do know that Vulcans became very, very common in Starfleet, as an entire Nebula class ship was manned by a Vulcan crew (name?). If the Vulcan's focused their military efforts on helping the human-led Fed to grow, they could focus their own advancements on more peaceful, more "new-T'Pau-led-Vulcan" endeavors. I.E. science and research. For all we know, there could be a Federation shipyard at Vulcan with Vulcan's building stock-looking Fed ships.

Also, the Enterprise herself and most Earth technology at the time was indeed "hybridized" w/ Vulcan tech, as the Vulcan's provided much of it. As for the outer design, we at least know that the S.S. Enterprise was heavily influenced as it had the ring nacelle.

    Andorians......

I have no idea. I just tell myself that maybe there was some disaster in the Andorian system that reduced their numbers, or maybe they lost much of their fleet in some conflict. Any explanation that would make them far less influential between the times of Archer, Kirk, and Picard.

  5. We were preempted again by baseball on Friday, so I just saw it last night.

I honestly enjoyed this one and give it a solid 9. There were only a few detractors, but not enough to take away from the overall ep.

To me, the plot seemed TNG, and the execution of it all had some good TOS qualities. I don't really know how to explain it, but that's how I felt. Plus, the CG work was great  .

Could someone give me a good recap on this

character? I'm afraid I didn't catch the reference right off.

    EDIT:

    My only big gripe:

  6. 4 tied with 2

    3

...and I actually still haven't seen the majority of the 1st season.

S4 has mostly quality episodes. I also really liked alot of the stand-alone episodes from season 2.

Season 3 was good overall. I grew tired of the Xindi arc a little quickly, though. Overall, I liked all of them (that I've seen).

  7. I drive a Dodge car and a Ford truck, and I'm happy with both. Those brands still aren't my favorites, though. I like the majority of the car companies and brands. Here's my current top 15 followed by the others I really like:

    1 Cadillac

    2 BMW

    3 VW

    4 Audi

    5 Nissan

    6 Acura

    7 Volvo

    8 Mazda

    9 Subaru

    10 Mercedes

    11 Land Rover

    12 Infiniti

    13 Oldsmobile(x)

    14 Lexus

    15 Saturn

Jaguar, Chrysler, Porsche, Honda, Aston Martin, Jeep, Ferrari, Chevy, Lamborghini, Ford, Hyundai, Saab, Pontiac, Toyota, Dodge, Mitsubishi, Buick, Isuzu, Lincoln, Alfa, Kia, etc...

  8. I thought the reptile referred to was the Gorn.

It was, but Archer didn't know that at the time, so he could've assumed it was a Xindi Retillian (if Earth had also dealt with the Xindi in the MU like they did in the actual one).

I thought the same thing when I first heard that. Like others have said, maybe events evolved differently with the Xindi in the MU. Also, there may have been no "future guy", et al, influence in the MU, meaning Archer may not have even encountered any Xindi.

  9. Honestly.... I wasn't impressed. I feel like I'm being generous giving it a 5.

  10. I actually kindof like that theory, Van Roy. :dude:

I taped it and watched it today. Fun episode. I'll give it an 8. I too thought one of the biggest detractors was Bakula's acting. I also didn't care for the special opening sequence.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the conclusion.
