  1. The family secret on both my parents side is that there may have been those that are Jewish. It's just a whisper that my mother's father may have been and on my father's side as well but it's kept a tightly guarded secret, like they're still afraid Hitler is going to come out of his grave and kill them. Also distantly on my mother's side a person in my family may have been partially black and we have Cherokee Indians in the bloodline too. Dad is second generation German that was born in America. All his siblings insist that they are Catholic now but his family left Germany very quickly and there had to be a reason to leave everything behind and come to America with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Yes, I buy my Hebrew Nationals because I know they are Kosher which means blessed by a Rabbi and made under very strict guidelines.

  2. I'm a malt girl, shakes are good but to me they taste like they are missing something and the malt makes it all taste so much creamier and smoother. I guess it's where you grow up. I was told once that malt is an acquired taste.

  3. I write to calm me down. Mostly fiction and I would never let anyone read it. As a small child my mother use to make me write stories if I became too wound up. I would also exercise a lot. I now just write stories. I take my meds when I have to as with the Endometriosis I'm in pain physically a lot now so sometimes I'm not all there when I'm write or do anything else.

I also drink green tea with honey and ginseng. I do lemon balm and St Jonswort for depression. I also own something that is called a meditation zone, I don't know why but it helps. Old hippie maybe but I was born in the 60's and my parents were really very different at times.

    Cheesecake sounds nice though.

  4. I wish the clickable Smilies had a blushing smilie because I'd use it here. I'm curious about the physical differences, whose to say it stops at ears, eyes, and blood. I mean just because some things are normal and pleasureful to a human may not be normal or pleasureful to a vulcan or vice versa. On Alien Nation for example, the physical differences were noted in one episode so it may be that Trip and T'Pol had sex together but it may have been painful, may not of been what they actually need to achieve...um... sorry trying to keep this pg rated. So what is the sexual physical truth between Vulcans and Humans?

  5. LOL. I have written fanfic for the FK (Forever Knight) series and it's posted on another website. I would eventually end up writing while doing the over the road ventures. My husband put that I would need a laptop on the top of the list should I become a team trucker with him. I've always written and my one English teacher in college would ask permission to copy my work and keep it. I got very good grades in my college English classes.

I've been told I'm able to do anything I set my mind on. Nothing has stopped me so far barring the fact that my body wouldn't go along with my mindset of becoming pregnant that was a blessing from God had I had been able to have children many other plans and hopes may not be an option for me.

Thanks Captain Jean-Luc Picard, in my last job I worked in Botany mainly dealing with Rosa species and Dracaena Sanderana. I dearly loved my Dracaena Sanderana and asked that I could continue to work on it during my own time. The head of the department is arranging with her upper boss to have me continue my work with it, but she has to bypass her direct boss as he was the reason for my leaving.

  6. Well now that I'm officially jobless I have been thinking about my options. I could, of course, finish college and get my teaching degree. (I think I would rather commit myself to a mental hospital than do that.) I like kids but I don't think I would be able to keep my sanity if I had to teach in school all day.

I thought about becoming and accountant years ago as I am very fond of math. I was once tested by my previous employer and my math skills we considered off the scale.

I also am thinking of doing something that is very different from the life I know here. My husband is a truck driver and though he is home nearly everyday there are times like last week that he's taken on a consignment that's taken away from home for several days. I'm thinking of becoming a trucker too. I need only to sign up in school and get my CDL. I think we could become team drivers and perhaps go from coast to coast. I think it could be fun, I probably would actually get to see my folks more and we could choose the consignment we wanted.

So have you ever thought of just throwing caution to the wind and going out and reaching for another path that is far different than you ever thought you would do or try?

  7. I voted knitting but I also have been paid to make a flower arrangement from time to time.

As a teenager I learned to knit and my mother would invite her friends over to watch me knit. Momma got such a kick out of my knitting because I knitted left handed. :tear: One time my mother even *loaned* me to a friend of hers in another state so she could show her friends my knitting skill. I gave up knitting for several years and now as an adult I knit when no ones around. :(

  8. I'm glad they moved it to Friday night. Usually on all the satelite channels I have I can't find anything worth watching. I rarely watch ABC, CBS, or NBC because reality shows suck, sitcoms are getting stale and lack imagination, and news shows are a bore. I usually end up on the computer, watching Court Tv, or Nick at Night. Welcome Dear Enterprise to Friday night!!! :P

  9. in jest of course, if dear old Captain Archer hates going into battle because it might make Porthos nervous. I had a dog in childhood that if my Dad raised his voice my dog would be frighten and pee on the floor. It was funny the first few times Dad cleaned it up and after that if Dad wanted to yell at you he always said, 'where's the dog?'

  10. Interesting topic. If I may I'd like to add to it.

    1. I'm very shy and you wouldn't get five words out of me unless I'm alone and talking to you via amateur radio. My husband's says I'm radio active.

    2. I've been stalked in real life by a little old man that's old enough to be my grandfather, he's followed me through a few jobs, two hours north to a new home, and he always leaves photograghs of me in my mailbox at home and at my work.

    3. I was offered a spot on the Drill Team in Junior High School and refused it.

    4. I legally married a stranger on a dare.

    5. I learn to drive in a '65 candy apple red convertable mustangs.

    6. I called my childhood dog Ziggy.

  11. Tapping. Like when your trying to thinking out a solution to a problem and someone is tapping their fingers against something wait for you to answer them. Very annoying. Gum chewing and snapping it repeatedly another thing that drives me up a wall. Women that ignore the *Mommy*call. You know when a kid keeps saying *mommy* and she pretends not to hear them. For Heaven sake just tell the kid 'NO' and to shut up. Rap music, like that's really music?

  12. Ah, sniglets = words that should be in the dictionary but isn't.

My sniglet for you is the dear word of my father in his own blessed language. The word is Giddums. Giddums are the cresty crumbs that are on toast that end up in the butter or jelly when you use the same knife on them. Giddums = foreign things in your food.

  13. :P Hang in there RikerChick. I have my last day of my job tomorrow due to a boss that was trying to force me to work one Sunday a month. His God might be the bottom line but mine rules the heavens and the earth.

Ok last week was hard for me. I got into a huge fight with my husband and I haven't seen him in a week. I went to talk to my counselor and in the middle of seeing her, she got and emergency phone call and was told her dog had to put to sleep. We both just sobbed over it. I spent the rest of the time trying to help her through the loss of her doggie child. I have to leave a job I love because I can't work Sundays. (I actually think my soon to be ex-boss is either evil or God's using him to test my faith.)

I know it's not as bad as other folks rotten weeks but for once this was a mildly good week for me and I learned a great deal about myself at therapy when my counselor did the crying too. So I've grown as a person emotionally and spiritual I think.

  14. Free samples are really really gross!!! In my younger days I've worked in a supermarket and I've witnessed alot of gross things that happen to sample food trays. I've seen people use and re-use their toothpicks to spear samples and the food didn't stick to them so they would spear another piece instead. I've seen small children take a piece of sample cheese and not like the taste and put it back on the tray. I've seen people sneeze on the trays, cough in their hands and then touch the food on the trays. I've also witnessed people licking the little spoons they put in mustard or cheese spreed samples and then returning it to the sample. Gross huh!!!
