Pike played a role that ShatKirk did not have in his reality..a true friend, at least one consistently shown, back in HQ. GreenwoodPike was the mentor, who, when you think about it, is the one responsible-not to make PineKirk the 'he saved the quadrant all by himself' hero, but, his criticality in the events of XI are made possible, of course, by Pike's encouragement, and challenge.Like Admiral Forrest in Enterprise with Jonathan Archer, Pike is his constant ally, sounding board..I'd like to see Jim calling him up, or vice-versa-and discussing the new mission/crisis, or trading some respectful, warm comments. And yes..you know the writers have GOT to get him out of the chair. It is, after all, a new universe. BTW, I got a chance to chat at some length with Sean Kenney(The Menagerie) at Vegascon, and talk about the Pike character from the PU. That was cool.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, RAJAH!!

Happy B-Day, all!

I agree with Trekz, that they both had their aspects, but, Cyrano was the amiable one of the two-a more or less harmless entrepeneur, out to make a credit on the fringes of space...

Dina Meyer(Donatra-ST:Nemesis) as a Madame on 'NCIS' Jan. 19th.

Haven't been around in a while, but saw the article here, so let me say, HAPPY FIFTEETH ANNIVERSARY, VOYAGER! You've always been as much StarTrek to me as any other, and personally, one of the best. Kudos to my beloved crew. You will ever sail on, in the hearts and minds of we, your fans.

Congrats from me, as well....

Well, how can I be anything but praising of STV transporters? Wink, wink. I agree about the films of TOS, certainly, after TMP, which I guess by comparison to me is better. The Enterprise effects are good to me as well. The new film's version is pretty cool, I guess. The engagement of the beam is reflective in the first seconds of the tv sound, no doubt a little homage there. TNG's is fine, too, I believe.

Just as he gave Season Four of Enterprise the other TOS connections, and along with folks like the Reeves-Stevenses, put a spark into what COULD have been a push in new directions for the series...not that I wasn't onboard, anyway...

Kudos to Sir Patrick!

A friend bought me a calendar, gave me some candy, etc, AND a DVD copy of STVI, a longtime TOS film fave.

Oh well. At least it helps demonstrate the appeal of the film. Remember gang, the People's Choice Awards are comin' up in a few days...and it looks like Trek's representin'!!!YAY!!!

There are images of the J at the 'Drex Files' site, BTW-ergo, Doug Drexler, vet of Trek series, including STE...

Rest in peace, Britany....she was a lovely actress, and sounded like an outgoing, likeable person. She was 'Lou Ann' on King Of the Hill for a long time.

I watched both series, too...though I have seen more of DS by comparison than B5. My mother, who loved StarWars, and whom unfortunately I never got into Trek(But she knew who Kirk, or Spock or a certain Ocampa were by moi!) liked B5 quite a bit, as did I. I actually liked Sheridan in a way more than Sinclair...it was neat though when they brought him back that time. My knowledge of B5 isn't as in-depth, but then, I got away from DS after it ended, and I tend to lean towards...well. my handle says it all. Hmm...a preference....my Trek loyalty tells me to go with DS, as all things trek pretty much trump other SF, but I do like other things. Both series had colorful and interesting characters IMO.The Shadows were a terrific villain, and poor Londo and his Faustian bargain...shudder. I think he really tried to make amends with G'Kar, right? But then it what, fell apart...it's been a long time since I saw any of that. B5 was a complex world, but then DS had its Bajoran angles, the Dominion, and Cardassia...I think DS was a broader-palette trek than the others. As said, I tend to identify more with the other series, however, it was well-written, and I would gladly watch it all again if I were able to on regular tv.As I would B5.

Which would explain my shock and perplexity back then-long before I had internet-or a computer-when TPTB canned the series, even before the May Sweeps were to come...I thought, good grief, they were hitting their stride, and now....stupid move. I don't pretend to understand all the inner workings of Hollywood. I just know what I enjoy. And at times when I hear the ENT theme, or Archer's theme, I think, what might have been....given how even among the critics, many give credit to S4, for going the right way. Just goes to prove they deserved one more shot at it before the axe fell.

Best wishes, trekz! We stand with you, remember that. Best of luck, stay strong.

RE Rian's post prior,it would be nice to see the Andorians reaching out to their Vulcan neighbors in the wake of the tragic loss of the film...but I suspect the next movie may touch, if any, but briefly in a line or two to ref the past events, so in that respect, not much to expect I think whatever connecting to STXI....One of the things about STE I would stand up for-not that it's hard for me to, in any case-is as you say how it intro'd the beginnings of the UFP. Who wouldn't want to see that?

Let's create a singularity, drop in some red matter...and send in the entire cast-with all possible precautions-so they will perhaps reboot TATV...and restart the whole series, from there on-CONNOR among them, especially!Yeah, yeah...we can dream, can't we? And we can still write our fanfic. No studio axe can stop that, gang!!!'Fraid Abramstrek is it for now-but I can live with that...if not what some of us would like otherwise...

Thanks for more cutaways! Kudos. VR.

Well, since it's here, and I wasn't when these were last posted, I will vote Patrick. But Brent is a definite second, and well, Levar, after all, 'Roots'...what can you say?

I voted 'it's good'. Let's leave the phasers on stun only, shall we? LOL...Look, ask ten ST fans the same question about anything, how many answers will you get? Is TMP that different? YES, by reputation in general, it's ranked among the lowest in popularity. Everyone knows that. But,I lean to the side of those who voted 'good', because, for me, it DID have its merits.I loved seeing, with Jim, the new Enterprsie. L like, still do, the KLingon battle scene-unfortunately, the pinnacle really of action in the picture-yes, a ST film needs, in each one, to me at least a certain level, and, staring at the awesomeness of V'Ger as so many have noted went on too long. Was it still impressive to me?Yes. I'll tell you all one thing that most certainly was:the music. Jerry Goldsmith was, is a modern cinematic musical craftsman, right up there with John Williams. He gave us Voyage rfans our sweeping theme, and thte now-iconic and 'borrowed for TNG' main theme. I played that cassete of TMP over and over all these years. And, for its time, the effects were good. Compared to today's standards, yes, it shows, but, it worked for me then. Spock had some very important evolutions to go through in this one, and of course, the moments between he, Kirk, and Bones are fond memories to me. ST:TMP may not be a hit-one-out-of-the-park..BUT THE BALLGAME MAY NEVER HAVE STARTED AT ALL WITHOUT IT....
