  1. We know nothing about her except her name, a reason why she is named Michael may be offered as the character is fleshed out.

It may be pronounced differently than it is spelled in print?

She may be transgender, decided not to feminize her name?

She may be playing a male character?

Maybe they don't think the same way about names in the future?

I am not that comfortable with what I am seeing but I don't want to get negative like I have already seen or heard in other sources

If these changes are for the sake of change, that they are being updated for modern audiences, ("not your daddy's Star Trek") then there could be trouble in fandom the likes of which we've never seen.

But I am holding onto hope a good reason is given if these indeed are Klingons, like they are throwbacks from a different time never seen or mentioned before. I actually love that idea.

  3. Happy to hear the scam was discovered before something really bad happened, @mj.

I like to think my reluctance to get entangled in all the social webs has helped protect us from these scams. With our private information about to go on the auction block to the highest bidder, our taking care against scammers will be more important than ever.

@VaBeachGuy I get that 'can you hear me' call at least once a month on my land line but since I always let the answering machine answer they always hang up soon after getting no response from me.

One time, I was expecting a call so when one came in I just absently picked it up. Once I became aware it was a scammer I shouted: I am reporting you to the do not call register! and hung up. Never saw that number in the caller id list again.

  4. Hi mj!

The leaker said they were Klingons (and was rumored fired for leaking the photo).

I suppose it is possible they are a different alien but the evidence lines up in favor of them being Klingons.

These are images of "Discovery Klingon Sarcophagus Ship Concept Art".

Imo, the armor is a pretty good match for these concepts.

Compare this concept with the set being built visible at :43 in the video after

    CONCEPTART4.jpg

Video will start at :42. See the similar, (nearly exact) columns and arches?

Of course the wool could be being pulled over our eyes. We'll see.

ETA Here is a screen grab of both together.

  5. I think Marvel rules the Big Screen but for Superhero TV the WB rules the roost.

Marvel/Netflix are good stories but their slow pacing puts me to sleep. I am actually dreading watching Iron Fist. I may just skip it, wait for The Defenders.

ABC's AoS is darn good, imo, but they dropped the ball with Agent Carter. Had they not cancelled that one ABC would be more of a contender, for me.

Legion (Marvel FXX) is... weird. I don't hate it, I watch it every week - but I just don't get it yet. I hope by seasons one end it makes more sense.

  6. This pertains to the Feature Films not the TV shows. (see other thread for TV show discussion)

I think Marvel just blows the DCEU away so far. Man of Steel was okay, but Superman vs Batman leaves me cold. Suicide Squad was DC's best outing so far, in my opinion.

  7. A leaked photo surfaced on Saturday, which is said to have been taken by someone currently working on the set of Star Trek: Discovery and may be our first look at the show’s Klingons in full makeup and wardrobe.

According to the source of the photo, a friend is “currently working on the set for Star Trek: Discovery,”. The photo’s caption leads us to believe that the person who shot it is working on the show as a Klingon himself.

An older story but the webs continue to be ablaze with fanrage over these clearly either re imagined or never before seen versions of the cranial ones.

Given the concept art for the Klingon ships we've seen, 1, 2, I am betting on them being Relics of the past.

I am fine either way, a good story is more important than canonical minutia. So long as they get the broad strokes right I will be happy.

  8. From Entertainment Weekly

Star Trek: Discovery is leaving its space dock.

The CBS All Access series is now underway in Toronto and the production released a teaser video and slate image.

Some notable components here: that teaser image of the back of the captain’s chair, new uniforms, some set construction shots, and a slightly tweaked logo.

This new iteration of the series arrives 50 years after Star Trek first beamed into living rooms and promises “the same ideology and hope for the future.” Discovery is set before the events of the original series and stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Anthony Rapp, Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones, and James Frain as Spock’s father, Sarek.

Star Trek: Discovery has been ordered for 13 episodes which were recently pushed back from their May premiere date. Discovery is likely to debut either this fall or early 2018 on CBS with all subsequent episodes available on the network’s digital subscription service, CBS All Access.

That has got to be the biggest set Trek has built since DS9
