New Hints About STAR TREK: DISCOVERY’s Storyline, SPOILERS POSSIBLE
This week’s newest issue of Entertainment Weekly has a three-page feature interview with Star Trek: Discovery shorunners Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg, who spoke to EW‘s James Hibberd about the development of the show and its cast.
In addition to revealing that one more factor that led to some of Discovery‘s production delays was the need to wait for series star Sonequa Martin-Green (Cmdr. Michael Burnham) to become available after her work on The Walking Dead concluded, the producing pair also revealed some new tantalizing details as to the path Season One’s story will take.
Harberts describes how Burnham’s choices affect the season:

A total money grab by CBS, pure and simple. CBS will be profiting hand over fist.
However, imo, there may be silver linings. CBS has claimed Discovery is already paid for, mostly from the International Netflix deal, it is already a financial success. So long as Netflix is happy with Discovery they will likely continue pumping cash into CBS's coffers for the continued production of Star Trek - a very good thing for the future of Trek imo.
So while our needing to pay does suck I take comfort in the possibility of all this leading to even more new Star Trek being produced.
Am I only dreaming? Nick Myers hints of developing new secret Trek project. This deal is already opening doors for new Trek productions so $6 bucks a month seems a small price to pay towards a future filled with new Trek.

Not big on uniform design either. Starships are more my thing.

I am not happy with the Sunday release, Sunday is football night!

I am terrible at picking a single favorite from any series. My favorite is whichever favorite I happen to be watching at the time.

These Klingon's may be one-offs - some ancient sect we've never seen before that only play a part in kick starting this series before fading back into obscurity once their story is told.
Or their strange appearance may have to do with whatever they are doing when the Discovery stumbles across them. They seem to be engaged in a burial in space so their strange garb and the odd ship design may only be ritualistic, won't feature beyond the premier.
So far as their physical appearance goes, I am fine with them. We've already seen a whole host of variations on the model so one more won't matter to me.

Too bad TPTB with Trek don't have vision with what they own, so much potential wasted.
At the very least an animated series based on the Guardian should have happened by now.
And that is not all the potential spin-offs from all the series they have squandered.
Welp, maybe someday they will wake up and put this franchise to work.
Sell it to Disney!

New interview with the actress
Contains Spoiler's concerning the season 7 finale of The Walking Dead
Sonequa Martin-Green on Her Journey From 'Walking Dead' to 'Star Trek'
The highlights concerning Discovery:
QuoteYou're officially confirmed to play First Officer Michael Burnham on Star Trek: Discovery. How does the character compare to Sasha?
Being the first officer on the ship is going to be a wild ride because we haven't seen that happen before in the Star Trek canon, we haven't seen the story be told from the perspective of the first officer rather than the captain. It's going to open up so much potential for new storylines because not being the captain automatically gives you a different perspective. It's going to be a wild ride and everybody on board — in front of the camera and behind — I've been floored by the performances on The Walking Dead from the beginning and I'm going to be astounded again by the people we've got assembled on Star Trek. I'm really excited.
