  1. ok so I heard a long time ago that the reasson that the Kes character was removed was because the actress was a drug atic does anyone know if there is truth to this rumer???

I am not saying that I think its true but you do have to wonder why she was taken off the the show.

There were many ugly rumors going around about Kes leaving Voyager. Yes, one of them that I heard was about drugs. Another included that she wouldn't have sex with one of the directors or writers. Then there was the one about Kes not being a character that was very popular. All of these were on a Jennifer L. web site at one time. And I didn't know exactly what to believe. The only thing I knew was that regardless of the real truth, I felt it unfortunate that the decision was made to let her go.

  2. I've not seen Tyson's new look.  Perhaps you could describe it for me. :)........Thanks.

    Your wish is my command:

I'm not sure where he came up with the idea but Chakotay's is better.

Thank you for enlightening me. In my opinion Tyson has a serious mental problem. At this point in his life too, I think he is trying to draw more attention to himself, because no one is paying much attention to him these days. Maybe he got that idea from Chakotay. But he certainly can't wear it like Chakotay. And the main thing this will bring him is more criticism, and questions about what he will think of next :wow:

  3. I hate the catsuit, why can't they understand that Jolene Blalock is a great actor, and not just show off her body.. :wow:

:D I think the character T'Pol has something in common with Seven of Nine in the Voyager series.........in some respects both were actually given the responsibility of making sure the "Babe image" was present. Personally I think that this image distracts from their roles and assignments in the series It also distracts from the depth of their characters. I am glad some fans are able to see beyond this image into the Star Trek issues and the acting. But some fans want a "Babe" on board a star ship. And as long as that desire is there......there will always be one. Believe me I'M NOT saying women on Star Trek should be ugly., homely or anything of the kind..........I'm simply saying this image portrayed by T'Pol is done purposeful, not to add to the drama or issues of Star Trek.....I believe and have read that it's done to keep some fans happy. : :D

  4. :D I've only been to one convention. It was put on by Slanted fedora. It was in Raleigh North Carolina. It was great. Unfortunately they chose to take it away from the area. According to them it was not well attended. But according to ME it was not well publicized. :wow: ...................Wish there we others close to North Carolina that were as good.

  5. :D I really like the wig she wears now. I don't think it would be appropriate for her to wear a Star Fleet uniform. She is a very attractive lady. And I think she will look attractive in whatever outfit she wears next season. :wow:

  6. Now this is a great topic to discuss. There were all kinds of media write ups about Janeway's hair. I read once in a magazine that the original thoughts were that being a female captain of a star ship they did not want Janeway to look too attractive or sexy. So they gave her what I termed a "grandma look." But then I understand they began to hear from male audiences, and so they modified that look to include a pony tail. Of course that did not add much to her visual appeal. So the conservative hair cut was their final attempt to make her more attractive....yet have her maintain the persona of a captain. They felt it inappropriate for a female captain of a space ship to appear too glamorous :D

  7. :D There was a three part story during the Voyager series where Kess ultimately leaves Voyager and 7 of 9 becomes a member of the cast. The three episodes that covers this plot include Scorpion parts I and II and The Gift. During this story, Janeway makes an alliance with the Borg to develope a weapon to defeat a common enemey, Species 8472. Janeway begins working with the Borg on a Borg cube to create the weapon. However, the cube is attacked by species 8472. Janeway and Tuvok are injured in the attack and beamed back aboard Voyager, along with 7 of 9 and a group of drones. Janeway's injuries are serious. But as she gives Chakotay contorl of the ship, she instructs him to maintain the alliance with the Borg at all costs. 7 of 9 who speaks for the Borg instructs Chakotay to route Voyager deeper into Borg space to link up with the nearest cube. Chakotay refuses and breaks off the alliance. When the captain recovers from her injuries, she is furious with Chakotay because he disobeyed her orders.

As I watched this plot unfold, it personally bothered me greatly that Janeway was so emotionally upset with Chakotay for disolving the alliance. Her trust that the Borg would not assimilate the Voyager crew seemed totally unrealistic. Her knowedlege that assimilation is always their ultimate goal, seemed to take a back step.......to what I have never understood. But I thought Chakotay was right; that he did the only thing possible. I found myself totally at odds with the Captain. In the long run it was discovered that the Borg had also tried to assimilate species 8472.........which how their troubles with them began.

I'm a big Janewy fan. but the above just seemed totally out of Character for her. :wow:

  8. what can i say he grew on me too but then again ive always like the Doc...its funny how everyone got nicer as the show went on...the Doc, B'lana, and Seven.. even tom got  a little less cynical...tuvok it seems is the only one that stayed the same

You're so right, everyone grew up, matured.....whatever the term is everyone's experinces made them wiser, I think. Only Tuvok remained constant........But I guess that's that Vulcan stability for you. :D

  9. true dat nascar..maybe after she get's over being the "babe" on board she'll become a better character.

I sure hope you are right about T'Pol. Actually I look forward to it. Tuvok I think would be also be pleased.(smiles) :D:wow:

  10. Scientific Method. You haven't seen it? Great episode. They make out 3 times!

This is a long back and forth conversation.

Scientific Method was a great episode not only because of their "making out" but also because of how Tom finally brought B'Ellanna to the point of realizing how deep his feelings were for her, and how important to him she really was. I think it was this episode more than any other that made her begin to realize that she was truly loved. And she began to work through some of her insecure feelings about herself. :D

  11. Being a Voyager "freak" I remember this episode quite well. In fact I've seen it several times. It was a very powerful story. Many of Voyager's plots I often transform into the world we live in. And this episode in particular made me ponder about some of the history of our own civilization as things have been recorded, even as far back as Biblical times. At any rate the plot, drama....everything about this episode I rated A+++................ :D

  12. That dog looks like a Chow. Let me tell you something about Chows before you get too attached because you need to make an informed decision about keeping the dog. We have a Chow. They are extremely loyal and a ONE FAMILY DOG! In other words do not expect the Chow to easily accept your friends or relatives. Our Chow will not even allow anyone outside of the immediate family to pet him. In fact he snaps at them and would bite them if pressed. They can be very tempermental and do not take to children who are not of the family. They will not allow stangers to cross your threshold. We have to let our Chow outside first, and let our friends in the house, then let the dog in. Even then he can be aggressive towards others. As they get older they also become more ornery and mean. Our dog has never bit me...YET... but I have come close. Outside of the things I have mentioned they are very nice dogs. I would just never own one again!

 When I was a kid my mother had a chow. She loved this dog. I was always afraid of it. We went on vacation for a couple of weeks. My father took care of the dog while we were gone. When we returned the first thing my mother wanted to do was to go and pet her dog. She ran out to the dog pen and let him out. He immediately attacked her. I ran inside to get my father, who had to beat the dog off of her. Needless to say this chow had to be put to sleep. The whole set of events broke my mother's heart. She could not understand why he attacked her. I always thought the dog was angry with my mother for leaving him.

  13. Another interesting Voyager character that truly developed over the course of the journey was Nelix. When I began watching Voyager I thought him to be a whinning, annoying personality with little depth. His jelousy of Kes really put me off. Yet as the journey progressed, he became a wonderful god father to Naomi, and a person of good will. He was often very resourceful to the crew on away missions. He even was resourceful with advice for B"Elann and Seven. Nelix and Tuvok also developed an interesting relationship. In addition Nelix was actually heroic in several Voyager episodes. The day he left the series for good it literally broke my heart and I cried. Nelix became such a loving caring sensetive, kind and gentle character over the seven year journey. He may not have been considered one of the major Voyager personalities. But he definitely had a major impact on everyone on that ship

  14. They probably think of Trekkies as people who wear Starfleet uniforms 24/7, spend $11000 decorating their apartment to look like the Enterprise (TrekMage's thread) and need Klingon interpreters at hospitals.

 You are probably right. And people who have such perceptions constatly have sterotypes about other things too. It's so sad because just like everything else, Star Trek fans come from every walk of life......We are of all races, religions, ages, and abilities.

  15. I found it hard to switch from TOS because I just didn't think anything could be as good as the original. But because of my loyalty to Star Trek I watched and consider it a great series. Voyager is my all time favorite....DS9 and Ent. I like least of all. However I'm a trekkie, and I support all series..

  16. I really don't know what the stereotype of a Star Trek fan is supposed to be. But obviously I must not fit what most people have in mind. Because whenever I tell people that I am a "trekkie" they get this weird look on their faces and say, "You don't look like you'd be into Star Trek. I don't bother to ask them what a Star Trek fan is supposed to look like. Because I don't have time to respond to such a "STUPID" statement.

  17. Greetings!

Doesn't this belong in the Ten Forward board since it concerns Vulcans from more than one series instead of just Voyager?  Anywho...

I have to say that Tuvok was the one who set the stage for being a true Vulcan as he was full-blooded unlike Mr. Spock.

Guess I began this discussion on Voyager because even though Mr. Spock was the first Vulcan we all encountered, Tuvok was my favorite, and of course he was on Voyager. To me here is another area where Voyager really exceled..in my opinion Tuvok was the true Vulcan character/personality. I do have a very difficult time with T'Pol. I would agree with the other reply that described her as "lifeless and absurd." I don't know if it's the actress who plays her or just the character as it is written. But, I will always remember many episodes where Tuvok truly exemplified the Vulcan image expected of him.......and gave us the different perspective to think about.

  18. We all know that Mr. Spock set the stage and tone for all of the Vulcans that followed in the Star Trek series. I guess I'd like to know how others feel in regards to how Tuvok and Tpol measure up to what Spock characterized as true Vulcan personality and behavior. I think I will express my opinions a bit later. As I am more curious to see how others feel first.

  19. [quote name=Ahane Falzon

Yes' date=' Torres is a gripping controversial character and I think that is what makes her such a good center piece for the Voyager crew. The one episode where I really did not like her in was 'Remember,' but she played it so powerfully that it drawed me closer to know the real emotional feelings of Torres. She really defined the Klingon Empire.[/quote]

The Episode "Remember" reminded me of what happened during World War II, when the Germans sought to annihilate the Jewish people and gased thousands of them in concentration camps. It was an episode I will always REMEMBER. And yet the subject matter was very upsetting. Therefore it was not a favorite episode of mine either. I found many of the episodes that featured B'Ellana were epiodes that truly made you ponder and consider many issues and emotions. I wish there had been more.
