  1. I think it was a mistake to pick Scott Bakula for the role of Archer. He will always be Sam Becket to me. I think the character is wooden and undistinguished. I would like to see him shuttle out of there and Trip or someone else take over. Captain Kirk: the great grandfather of James T did I hear you say? Arrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

    B) To be honest, when I heard that Scott was going to play the role of a Star Fleet captain, I shook my head..."No way, I said. He just doesn't have the personna of those who have proceeded him." I still feel he doesn't have the personna. And Yet I'm used to Captain Archer's personna now. So I think to change him now would be a mistake. Also, I don't see anyone on the ship that would make a better captain. B)

  2. Thanks for the info. about Harry and Libby. Harry was a nice guy.......the "good guy" so to speak on Voyager. But in spite of all his "goodness," his intellectual abilities, his good looks, his likeable qualities, and capablities as a Star Fleet officer; to me his personal life just seemed a bit sad. While I'm not saying one has to be in a reltionship to be happy........it seemed to me that Harry wanted one so badly. But something was always wrong each time he fell for a woman.

  3. because Janeway didn't expect to be gone very long in "Caretaker" and was on a mission that was going to involve warfare, whereas Archer and his crew are on a mission of peace and exploration

    That's what I think anyway

I would agree, plus I believe that Janeway was used to leaving her dog with her fiance' when she was away on Star Fleet missions. :dude:

  4. This is something that has been brewing in me for a long time.  It just seems that whenever I want to watch something like enterprise I turn to the right chanel at the right time and instead of the show I want to watch there is basketball or football and I am getting sick of it.  There is nothing worng with sports but my lands how many sports channels are there and they decied that when star trek is on they should have sports instead.  I know there is bound to be sports fans here but when I heard about the one football game when their time ran out but the game had not ended and Heidi came on I cheered.  Sorry end or rant.  What do you think? :dude:

    Dittto!!!!

  5. Yes, you are correct. Seven of Nine could not go back to being Annika Hansen because she didn't remember who that person was.

Another point:  It would have suited 7 of 9 if she wore a Starfleet Uniform instead of the catsuit. By wearing a Starfleet Uniform, Seven would have been taken more seriously than she actually was.

I agrree with you. Also my faith has been restored in good judgement......as the comments here are certainly different than they were on startrek .com I really didn't understand how anyone could have the logic that a woman who had identified herself as being Borg, and could only remember herself by the name Seven of Nine, could suddenly accept an identity that someone told her that she used to be. :dude:

  6. Well, IMHO, the reason the franchise has taken a turn for the worse lately is that TPTB are trying to "appeal to a mass audience."  The problem is, the producers think that the way to appeal to a wider audience is to add more T&A along with more stuff being shot at and blown up.  That's why the newer Trek series and movies have women in tight catsuits or getting goo rubbed on them while dressed in their underwear and huge battle scenes with multiple ships flying around, shooting, and blowing up.  To me, that's not the reason Trek has survived for almost 40 years.  I think the reason is because of intelligent writers tackling controversial subjects which made viewers think.  Sure, Captain Kirk had his babe of the week, but most of the episodes of TOS revolved around the characters and intelligent story lines.  Just my two cents!

    :) Ditto!!!!! :)

  7. If Someone were to ask you which Star Trek Character's personality was similar to your own, who would you choose? For me it would be B'Ellanna Torres. As much as I did not like her to begin with; I know it had everything to do with the personal innner conflicts that were similar in nature that we both share. Unfortunately, I did not have a Voyager challenge or a Tom Paris in my life to help me through my "tough" journey. But

B'ellanna will always be my Star Trek hero. :)

  8. but i guess that leaves paramount room for a movie, which (oh, powers that be, be reading THIS) they had better be doing, oh their lucky stars else!!!

They are :) B) B), on the IMDB website if you search for Star Trek: Borg Encounter you'll see this

    Star Trek: Borg Encounter

    Production Notes/Status:

    Status: Filming

    Comments:

    Status Updated: 20 February 2003

Note: Since this project is categorized as being in production, the data is subject to change or could be removed completely.

    Credited cast:

Alice Krige ....  The Borg aka The Borg Queen

    Kate Mulgrew ....  Admiral Janeway

    Robert Picardo ....  The Doctor

so probably that will be a Voyager movie, oh they need Tuvok, Seven, Chakotay, Tom, Harry and B'Elanna in that movie or it won't be the same.

Sorry, no VOY movie. That's a ride for Star Trek: The Experrience. Most likely, we'll either have a mixed or new cast movie.

 Captain, I know you have a lot more information than I do. But I sure hope you are wrong about the Voyager movie........I am about to order the new book.........It does sound from what everyone is saying that it is great.........I'd love to see The crew of Voyager again on screen :) , rather than at a Star Trek convention. :(

  9. :) I agree with the Captain that there was a way to keep Kes in the cast and also maintain the demension added to the plots of Voyager that Seven brought with her. Seven defintely added character to Voyager. But I also think more could have been done with plots centering around Kes at times while she was on the show. Still, there is absolutely no doubt that Seven of Nine added a very exciting element to the series. She also added more viewers. :) :borg: B)

  10. Here's a Seven question.  Do you think she should have worn a Starfleet uniform?  In "Human Error," she expressed an interest in wearing one.  She looked pretty nice in one.  I didn't much like those tight suits she was always wearing.  I think a uniform would have been a nice change.

    B) You know the catsuit versus the uniform is an interesting and controversial question. Personally, I thought Seven became as much a part of the crew as B'Ellanna, Tom, Chakotay, etc. Janeway depended on her analysis of all kinds of data. Also the MaQuis certainly became a part of the crew when they came aboard the ship. Yes, in my opinion Seven should have become a star fleet officer, and been given a uniform B) ..............And, as was on another post...I am aware that Jerri Ryan did not like the cat suits.

It's also great to see the comments that have taken ino consideration Seven's identity as Borg out weighing her sudden entry into human culture. I don't know yet where the new book about Voyager takes Seven. But surely while Voyager was still in space, and Seven was still recovering from her life in the collective, she could not have embraced the name Annika with much enthusiasm. :(

  11. For those of you who have never been to a Star Trek Convention and would like to attend one, check out this web site: sfedora.com

I attended one of their conventions two years ago. William Shatner and two others actors from TOS were there, along with the "fab four" from Voyager.....Paris, B'Ellanna, the Doctor, and Nelix. This year for those of you who live in the US, they are trying some one day conventions. In previous years conventions have lasted all week end. At any rate, check out their web site. They have already booked dates for cities like Rochester, Buffalo, Salt Lake City, Portsmouth ,Boston, Hartford, Greenville, SC, Winston-Salem, NC, and Raleigh NC. But there is also a listing of anticipated dates for many other cities. So check ithis information out.

The rates are very reasonable. Plus there is also the opportunity for photos with the actors, and autographs. :o

  12. Regarding Seven's "eye piece": it's true that it couldn't be removed without killing her.  That's because it wasn't an eye piece, it was a cortical implant, which controlled all of her central nervous system functions.  I remember an episode where her cortical implant began to fail, and Seven was dying.  Janeway tried everything to find a replacement for her, even going to a destroyed Borg ship and taking one from a dead drone.  At the end, Echep (sp?) almost kills himself by removing his own implant so he can donate it to Seven.  I forget the name of the episode...

:borg: The episode was called "Imperfection," a very powerful episode......one in which Seven recognizes a lot about herself as an individual, and comes to accept Icheb's caring and concern about her. By the way, do you think Seven should change her name back to Annika? :borg:
