Great song, I know Chris LeDoux loved it too. The short line mentioning him revived his entire career.

I'm adding a smaller version od the song for dial-ups. If you have a cable modem and would rather hear the larger (better audio quality) version just hit the Red Stop button in this post and hit Play in RikerChick's posting.

Could it be that the little "Comm Badges" that show up for new posts keep "blinking out" before I can read all the new posts? This happens often.Yeah that happens, I have heard it be called "the boards reset cookies" and it happens to me to. Solution? Between forums "The Promenade" and "Board Statistics" there is link to "Today’s Active Topics" I call it a Back up, you can find unviewed posts in there.
That's my suggestion as well. I use My Assistant to bring up Today's Active Topics but thats just how I do it.

I remember reading about France being upset with the internet being too "American" and I don't say "American" meaning "The United States". It was more a problem with the vast majority (at least at that time) of sites being in English and not in French. This was more of a problem for France itself if I recall right. This was maybe 5 or so years ago that I remember this story.
I myself don't care one way or the other, if it's a matter of them not liking the term because it's too "American" though it seems pretty petty, if it's just a matter of their culture wanting to use their own term then who am I to say otherwise?

Would it be per service, network, or show? I only watch 3 shows, and each is on a different network. :lol:Anywho, it sounds like an excellent idea! However, if you home burn DVD's, how do you do the extra's and menus?

If you had a DVD burner right now with the current technology and wanted to copy a DVD (which isn't quite legal unless you own the original and only want to make a back up) you would have an exact copy of the original.
If a system like I am proposing is ever adopted then the DVD you would buy, download and burn would be identical to one you would buy with the exception of maybe the DVD case and cover and the pretty printing on the DVD itself.
But then again if a system like I propose was ever adopted there would be no need for DVDs because you would have 24 hour access to the movie/show through your TV. The DVD's would just be extra clutter taking up space on a shelf.

Buying products in a store will never end. In the future I envision Video entertainment will be different though. The programming will be custom picked by the individual watching it. Just what bells and whistles you would get with your programming is something that woudl be worked out by TPTB.
Think about it like this, you come home on Saturday night and remember that Enterprise was on 3 days ago and you forgot to watch (or couldn't at the time) so you pick up your remote keyboard type in "Enterprise" and a listing of Enterprise episodes comes onto the screen. You select the one you want to watch and hit "Go" and poof Enterprise is on your TV. You can pause it or rewind it come back to it tomorrow and watch it over again. Whatever you want. This is all done through your TV and it's all done as quickly as changing the Channel. It would work with movies also. The content available would be whatever TPTB make available.
This could be done as a subscription service like Cable TV. You pay per month X dollars and you have complete access.

A way the ratings could be brought into the 21st century would be by having the shows downloadable. The studios could track how many downloads there were of a specific show and guage how popular it is that way. It would seem to me that it would be more accurate than the current way.I completely agree! Then, once they're aired a season... they can release a season set on DVD! (better quallity)
If they were to embrace the concept of downloading the quality of the download would be DVD quality. You can already download movies at that quality (or pretty close to it). It wouldn't take much to make it a reality.

Well neither of you should have any problems now.

I went to Yahoo and did a search for STARTERKFANS.NET and the first link that came up had the page cached. Which means they (Yahoo) visited the site and saved everything from the portal page so people can see what the site looks like without actually visiting it.Somewhat to my surprise I found this in their cache:
Click for Spoiler:
LOL
Gee the tribute - and they still accepted us - whew!!!
I also noticed a lot of other pages that contain STARTREKFANS.NET in their pages. So that helps us.

Ok, I'm going to put together a good Quark-A-Thon for tonight. I just watched "Lookinf For Par Mach. I should have at least 2 of season 3's DVDs today too.

Was Chakotay a dynamic, inspirational member of the Voyager crew, or was he 'just average'?He had his moments, but he wasn't a Riker or a Spock. I'd rate him 3rd on the list. You can't really add Kira to the list since it's so totally different being on a station vs. on a ship. I don't think we can rank T'Pol yet either.

something about "nog-a-thon" just cracks me up hehe. But seriously, I think it was with those episodes that I started to take a strong interest in his character, because here was somebody that is doing something completely unexpected, something that most of us thought Jake Sisko would do for sure. Not only doing it but doing it well, and we all thought he was the little criminal lol

I think it's something that Could be done, but not as a series. As a movie. It could be interesting to see a new rendition of a mission with Cpt Pike shortly before The Cage happened. But I don't think it would be good for the show to do it. Only the most diehard fans would likely enjoy something like this.

The Final Countdown was a great movie, I remember trying to get into it in the movie theater but every time I went it was sold out.
As for the future or past, I'd like to see both but if I had to pick one I'd probably pick the past. Would I change something with the world or my life? I don't know but I'd want to visit historical points of history. I'd want to experience a launch of a Saturn V, maybe hook up a VCR to a 1956 TV and get a tape of Elvis on the Dorsey show. How about getting a tape of TOS in it's first run with all of it's original commercials intact so the show is exactly as it was on the night it aired?
I might warn myself about an ex-girlfriend or stop by my house in 1974 to say hello to the family but other then that I'd have to "play it by ear".

Yes, great news. They very much deserve to win.

This is one of my favorites from season 2 but Elementary Dear Data is my favorite overall from season2.
Excellent early episode though.

They would need to explain how the pods are recovered at least once. How could they recover them? I don't believe the transporters at this time could do it, in Dawn they couldn't go down to the planet because of whatever it was that killed their engines in the other 2 shuttles. I think it's just one of those things the writers and TPTB know is a "flaw" but it's one of those things we all just accept. Somehow they get the shuttle back and the next week there is a new mission.
They really do need to start using the transporters more though. Maybe the factor in forcing them to use the transporters could be the permanent loss of one of the Pods.

Well yeah, I would require sound to. Kevin, are you familiar with NASA TV? Check it out here...http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdata/nasatv/index.html
Right now they are covering Space Station events LIVE, whenever a shuttle mission is underway they offer live coverage from a couple hours before lift-off straight through till and for a few hours after touchdown.
I used to get the NASA TV but haven't had it for several years. I loved it when they played the old tapes of Apollo and Sky Lab and all that.

No, they shouldn't do that. I don't think they would be that stupid either, they would know that some things have to be left as they are.

Thanks, I have it bookmarked and plan to use it to catch up on all the history those missions represented. There's supposed to be a DVD set coming out sometime that has all of the video and film from all of the Moon missions on them. That should be quite interesting since the last few missions were on the moon for up to 3 days.
It's about time, that's even better I will wait for it. I hope they include every minute of footage from the Moon. No doubt they will each cost an arm and a leg but I gotta have them! Not only would I want all of the footage but they also have audio of every minute of the missions. I would even want that as well, hear what they talked about when they weren't on TV.

You think that seems funny, try playing some of the video games from the early to mid 70's. Those are the games I grew up with and they were so basic and simple comapred to what we have now.

Proof the Lunar Landings happened

The proof is there, the landers are there and the pictures show it. Even an independent study found the Apollo 15 landing site. TO think there was no landing is just naive.
Have you ever watched video of the landings?
