Odo 0 Posted March 19, 2007 Do not let them insert a feeding tube Try ground diet or puree and thicken liquidx first I speak from what i know. A feeding tube is a last option.
Vulcan_lover 1 Posted March 20, 2007 I'm not the great with my geography...at all. But isn't Maryland fairly close to Maine? Couldn't you just drive him up yourself, that way he wouldn't miss class? But if he does have to miss class, don't worry about it, nothing happens the first few days of the quarter, it's just syllabus junk and whatnot...nothing important at all, so don't stress yourself out over it. You sound like you need a beer....or a whole case.
MrPsychic 1 Posted March 20, 2007 Kor, if you pay me, I'd be happy to drive him up to Maine... After all, I have a vested interest in going there
Kor37 9 Posted March 20, 2007 Eric is finally on his way to the airport now to go back to Maine. The only glitch we have this mornig is that they spelled his name wrong on the ticket. I hope that won't cause too many problems. Guess we'll find out in a few minutes. You sound like you need a beer....or a whole case. That just might be the best advice anyone has ever given me!... Kor37 9 Posted March 21, 2007 - They went ahead and installed the feeding tube into my father-in-law the other day. They tried gving him some ground up and pureed food but it went into his lung instead of his stomach so that was the only option. Since he got it, he's been looking and feeling better so maybe this was the way to go after all. - Got some more parts in the mail for my car today. Gonna work on it some more this weekend. - I'm still trying to deal with this situation of the IRS wanting me to garnish one of my driver's wages. Until he gets the situation straightened out with the IRS, I can think of only 2 options. One is to pay him under the table and tell the IRS that he quit. the problem with that one is that I wouldn't be able to take his wages off my taxes. The other option is to put his paycheck in his wife's name and SS number. I'm still looking into it.

It would be a relatively long drive, though you stay on 95 practically the whole time. Mapquest says total driving time would be 10 hours, 40 Minutes, and about 630 miles from Baltimore to Bangor, ME. By comparison, Chicago is alittle over 11 hours away driving. He Who Shall Not Be Named 2 Posted March 22, 2007 If they are indeed independent contractors then IN MOST CASES you do not need to withhold taxes. It is up to the contractor to pay his own taxes. HOWEVER, if he doesn't, then yes the IRS can order you to pay them directly out of his wages until his tax debt is paid off. If thats the case, then the driver will probably quit. I wouldn't blame him. The driver must ultimately pay the taxes, not you. The only thing you are doing is acting as a collection agent for the government. The driver would have the same problem at any future job he held, independent contractor or not. Quitting would make the back taxes harder to collect, but at the expense of making it harder to eat. Kor37 9 Posted March 22, 2007 - I talked to the wife of my driver who's wages are being garnished. She understands the severity of the problem more than he does (typical wife.. ) and has promised to take care of the matter. I'm going to try to get a postponement from the IRS to give them time to get it all straightened out. - One of my customers gave me 4 tickets to see "Stars On Ice". I gave them to my wife who is there right now with her Mom and 2 sister-in-laws. - I tried to register Eric for a summer class that he wanted to take at the local Community College here but they told me I need a permission letter from my son to register him......... Now I can't register him until he writes one and overnights it to me.

Gotta love it! - I had to personally go to the local college and register Eric for the Calculus course he wants to take during the summer. - Trying to figure out a nice place to go to for vacation this year. Any suggestions from all of you would be welcome.. But it has to be on the North American Continent. - I was spitting mad this morning when I went to my warehouse and discovered that someone had slashed the brand new tire I put on one of our work vans...... - I got the air induction system working on my car! ..Now I just flip the switch and the hood scoop pops up and forces air into the carbeurators. Kor37 9 Posted March 28, 2007 The con in Vegas, baby! I was just in Vegas last summer and visited the Experience. So thats out this year. Too soon to go back. I hear Chicago is nice in the summer... Interesting..Since you live there, tell me how I would spend a week in Chicago, Jim. You could always take a trip up north to Maine to visit Eric. I could always tag along.... Ulterior motives on your part notwithstanding, I think Eric spends enough time in Maine without having to also vacation there....
MrPsychic 1 Posted March 28, 2007 Don't forget, if you leave the US, you will need a passport to get back into the country.
Kor37 9 Posted March 28, 2007 Don't forget, if you leave the US, you will need a passport to get back into the country. Thats true except for Cancun or the Bahamas. I didn't need a passport of either of those places, just a copy of my birth certificate. Today: - Went and got my hair cut. - Worked out at the gym for about 1 1/2 hours - Went to Office Depot to buy a new paper shredder and a new telephone/fax machine as both of mine were broken. - Its such a beautiful day, I'm eyeing my pool and wondering if I should start to get it ready for summer. Odo 0 Posted March 29, 2007 as of july of 08 you will need a passport to go anywhere outside the US Even Canada. You do now if you fly. Current price of passport 97 dollars plus cost of photo. 5 to 6 months waiting list 60 dollars more for express but stiil 2 to 3 months waiting Just applayed for one. Why the long wait. The goverment did not expect the influx of requests DUH!! you pass a fedral law that states that every man, women, and child leaving and rentering the Us Will need a passport .By a certain date and you don't expect a lot of requests
trekz 7 Posted March 30, 2007 Vacation sugguestions: Yellowstone Nat'l Park - geysers, buffalo and good hiking! AND Grand Teton National Park - lakes, moose, mountains and more hiking! You could also make various scenic stops along the way. The Canadian Rockies - Banff, Jasper, & Yoho Nat'l Parks along with the Icefield Parkway - wonderful scenery and lots of hiking. Other stops coming and going. Chicago: lots to do. Lake cruise, Navy Pier stuff. Could walk or bike along the lakefront for miles. Tons of Museums - Art Institute, Museum of Science and Industry, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Shedd Acquarium are some of the tops. Lincoln Park Zoo or Brookfield Zoo. Cubs at Wrigley or Sox at US Cellular. (There are also a couple minor league teams nearby, but I already mentioned the Cubs - ) Lots of architecture in city, plus sites like Pullman community and Frank Lloyd Wright Home - and buildings he built. Lots of ethnic areas of city with various restaurants. Chicago Botanic Gardens, also Lincoln Park and Garfield Park conservatories, plus Morton Arboreum. Go to top of Hancock Building or Sears Tower. Kor37 9 Posted March 30, 2007 Thanks Trekz! Great suggestions! I've always had Yellowstone in the back of my head as someplace that I would like to see.
Kor37 9 Posted April 1, 2007 - Yesterday I went with some friends to buy a tuxedo for this wedding I'm in. I'm the best man in the wedding. The fiance came up with this bright idea for us to buy tuxes instead of renting them. A place around here had them on sale for cheaper than we would have spent to rent. Thats all fair and good but what the heck do I need to own a tuxedo for? I will probably wear a tux if and when my son gets married but other than that, I have no need for it. I'd rather spend more money to rent it so I can give it back when I'm done but I don't want to rock the boat so I kept my mouth shut. - I still have to organize the bachelor party for the aforementioned groom. I've narrowed it down to two places. I'm either going to rent a private suite at Scores or the Hustler club. I'll see who gives me the best deal. - I'm getting ready to leave in a few minutes to go to Medieval Times. I highly reccomend this place to anyone who may live near one. There are about 6 or 7 of these around the country. Its a great show. The food is great there too. I'm going to meet MrPsychic there. He's never seen the show and wanted to go. I really hope he likes it since he's driving 100 miles one way just to see it!

A tux isn't something to own unless you have the opportunity to wear it occasionally. Like more than twice in a lifetime. The Stag Party is never complete without strippers and poker. Up in my area, we have the Renascence Festival every summer. Good food, good shows, Wenches for everyone. I may have to go this year.
Kor37 9 Posted April 2, 2007 We have the Renaissance Festival here as well every year. It goes on for about 3 months. While it is good, it is nothing like the Medieval Times show.
