  1. I only saw the first few seasons but I loved Babalyon 5. I also liked X-Files before it got boring.

In the movie world I love Star Wars (old and new, but old more of course), the Alien movies, 2001 and 2010, The Terminator 1 & 2, the original Planet of the Apes, Back to the Future.... There's just too many to name!

  2. I like both Trip and T'Pol a lot. I also like Archer. Reed also has his charms.

I don't like the Dr. however. I think I may be alone on this one though...

no your not, i'm not really a big fan of the Doctor either

I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I do really love the show and I think most of the characters are pretty awesome. Docter Phlox however just doesn't do it for me. Bones is still my favorite. He was so down to Earth, where as Phlox is just about as out in space as one can get.

  3. Goldsmith is great especially his Nemesis score. I think Horner is the better composer though. Not just becuase of Star Trek's II and III either. All of his soundtracks have been awesome (except Titanic which of course he won the award for). I would go as far to say that Horner is probably my favorite modern day flim score composer.

What do you people think of Cliff Eidelman who did Star Trek VI: The Undiscoverd Country?

  4. As a bit of a fuddy duddy, I have to agree with him...although ST:TOS was full of insightful plot's for it's time and revolutionary, visually...the 'next generation' has played safe...taking the money, rather than the risks...

Once you understand just how many risks were taken by ST:TOS you will understand his disdane for the 'trademark' shows...which are really good, but lack the rebel nature displayed by ST:TOS.

Star Trek has become corporate, and for an rebel and explorer character, this is against ST:TOS's nature.

The idea was to boldly go (go boldly) into the unknown...your imagination...rather than wander aimlessly around some maze of special effects...

What he is saying is not rubbishing the new Star Trek genre's just voicing disappointment with the concept of playing safe...in an adventure series.

I'm a big fan of all Trek. I think that Next Gen and DS9 are probably my favorite shows, but you do make a good point. I don't think that it's fare to say that non of the new shows have taken any risks. I think that Next Generation was a very bold idea. When it first started even though the budget may have been bigger, it was still born to be a ratings flop. It amazes me to this day that TNG ever made it to season 3. However it did make it! And it went on to explore the human condition in ways that the original series never did.

I think DS9 was also a pretty bold show. It was the first 'non-Enterprise' series and it also delt with a lot of issues that had never really been touched on in Star Trek before.

As far as Voyager and Enterprise go however, even though I'm a really big fan of both I do agree that they do play it far too safe most of the time. They are both graet shows with great stories, but they don't take the risks that the first three shows did.

But even having said this, I don't think that Shatner has any right to slander shows that he hasn't even taken the time to watch. I hate it when fans do it and Kirk is no exception! I'm sick of people telling me that Enterpris or even Nemesis aren't that good and then finding out that they haven't even seen them!

  5. Captain Janeway.  I bet she could beat up Picard in a nanosecond (not that I dislike Picard, I just think that Janeway's pretty tough). :)

No way. Picard has way better tactics then Janeway. Janeway seems to act without thinking while Picard is always absolutely sure of his strategies. Picard is my favorite captain and I couldn't bear to watch him get beat up. Lol. I do think that they should make a ST:XI and have Picard dying. All the crew could get back together again because of that and Picard, just before he dies, could pass the Enterprise onto Riker again. He would have to accept. It has to be near the beginning too or the movie would be really boring. It would be sad yet a real asset to the series especially since Stewart wants out.

I really don't like the idea of Picard getting killed, but if they do kill him it has to be a better death than what Kirk got. Where did you hear that Stewert wanted out? The last interview I read with him (which was just before Nemesis came out), he sounded like he was far from ready to give up Picard.

Also my favorite Voyager Character would either have to be Janeway or The Docter.

  6. yeah, but the Dax character in ST:VI wasn't the guy who did it, they just found the boots in his locker, he was only in the movie for a few seconds, and he couldn't have done it because he had those weird feet.

I feel stupid. I must have been having a brain cloud because I completly forgot about that part of the movie! I completly miss understood. Still I don't think that crewmen Dax in ST:6 was the same Dax that we all know. First off he wasn't a Trill and as far as I know the Dax symbiont has only had Trill hosts. If I'm wrong about this please let me know. There is a lot of DS9 that I missed and I'm still trying to catch up.

  7. i love the doctor. hes not as good as the emh in voyager though. i thought bones is just to pessimistic. also, ive changed my mind. i started watching enterprise alot more often and now i think that killing them before the end of the series would be bad. it wouldnt be something that i would like to see, now that i like the show alot more than i used to.

For the most part I enjoy most of the characters on Enterprise. Dr. Phlox however I simply find to be far to unbelieveable Now I know that it's all science fiction and fantisy, but Star Trek has always had a tredition of wonderful characters that are easy to relate to. I had no problem excepting the EMH Docter on Voyager, but for some reason Phlox I just can't believe in. I will always love Bones. And Jullian, Crusher, and 'The Docter' were all great characters as well. Sorry Phlox, you lose!

  8. Here in L.A. we get Enterprise on UPN twice a week and Voyager on UPN week nights at 3am. Both Next Gen and TOS are on cable (TNN and Sci-fi I believe) but at the moment my pay check doesn't allow me to have cable. And DS9 doesn't come on anywhere anytime. I really wish it did because at the moment that's the show I'm wanted to see the most! I guess I'm going to have to figure out a way to save up and get the DVD sets as they come out.

  9. I've liked them all. And because no one has said a word about Sisko yet, I would like to ad that I that I think he was one of the coolest Captians in Starfleet history....

However in the end I have to go with Picard. They just don't come any cooler than that...

  10. I think he's still just pissed because he didn't get a very good death scene in Generations. Also before Picard he was "THE" captian of the Enterprise, and now he's what 1 of 5? Also a few years ago TV Guide voted Patrick Stewet Sexiest Man, and he's bold! That had to have been a blow to his ego....

I still love Kirk and even Shatner despite.

Has anyone ever seen the movie Free Enterprise? It made me gain new found respect for Shatner simply because he was willing to be in it. If you haven't seen it, it's one of the funniest movies ever!

  11. I noticed the cameo appearance. How did she become Admiral? She got lost. Picard has a great record as Captain and he is not an Admiral yet. What gives? Is it because nobody in Star Fleet forgave Locutus?

She may have got lost, but she also made it home against all odds. This makes her a hero and we all know that hero's get promoted (unless your Kirk, then you get demoted).

And as far as the story ending with them getting home, I think it almost ended too fast. They deserve a movie just to show what happens next! Also as far as the Voyager being to beat up to fly, if there was an Enterprise in Star Trek IV than there can be a Voyager in Star Trek XI.

All things being equal however I would still rather see DS9 in the next movie.

  12. i just think that the show needs to really do something drastic to take viewers by surprise and keep that thing a close guarded secret so that when we watch it we dont already know what will happen.

I think they should kill the Dr. and then introduce a new character that smiles a lot less and is far more likable. Perhaps an older man more like Bones.

  13. Enterprise is by no means my favorite show, but it is really good. I can't wait to see how it develops over the next few years. I think it's cool to finally see a show about a time in Trek history that we really no nothing about. I wish people would quit acting like they knew evertying about 22nd centurey and let the show be what it is. Did we know everything that was going to happen in Star Wars episodes I and II? Of course not! We knew a few things about how it all came out in the end, and that's really all we know about Enterprise. I don't care what T.V. Guide says, this is still the best thing on television at the moment.

  14. According to the book the Dax character in ST:VI, a guy, who had those boots with Gorkon's blood put in his locker "could have been" Dax, but at that time the Dax symbiont's host was Emony or Audrid, both women, so it's one of those annoying maybes of Star Trek, no one knows, or at least I don't

I can't believe that because it seems very out of character for Dax to have killed Gorkon. Also as far as Curzon being the first Dax to have anything to do with Starfleet, I think Dax could be on Enterprise without being any kind of member of Starfleet. Also I'm not sure which Dax it would have been at this point but I was told by one person that it would have been Tobin.

  15. I asked this question to the startrek.com board a few nights ago but now that I've moved over here I was wondering what you people thought of this idea?

It makes sense to me that since Dax is over 300 years old in DS9 that he/she could be on Enterprise at some point. Anyway give me your thoughts.. I think this could be cool.
