  1. I was wondering: have you ever gone back and seen an episode and noticed something that alluded to a future episode. This is probably best seen on DS9 due to the arcing plot lines. Here are some examples I've noticed:

-Rapture: Sisko sees locusts heading towards Cardassia

By Inferno's Light - Dominion ships go to Cardassia (Dominion ships look like insects). Okay, so that's obvious.

-The Sound of Her Voice: O'Brien says that one day someone will be missing from the group

Tears of the Prophets (Next ep) - Jadzia dies (undoubtedly deliberate, Terry Farrell had to have made her choice to leave by then)

-Sacrifice of Angels: The prophets say a penance must be exacted (the prophet in the form of Jake says this)

The Reckoning: Jake is possessed by a Pah-Wraith (okay so this is a stretch)

    My best example:

Destiny: A vedek recites Trakor's fourth prophecy: the Emissary will face a fiery challenge and be forced to make a difficult choice

What you Leave Behind - Sisko battles Dukat in the fire caves.

I haven't seen all of these episodes so I'm not sure if the original reference is brought up in the second ep.

Anyway, anyone have any examples of foreshadowing or is this the typical Jack_Bauer post (no replies, drops like a stone)?

Anyone who was an avid fan of ST:DS9 (In My Opinion) found it easy to foreshadow future events. This series, was the best written hands down.

    A classic.

  2. Gotta go with the Soverign Class Enterprise-E. She is the Flagship of the Federation. While the other ships served the Federation well, I have gotta go with the best and brightest.

  3. EJP.

With the Ferengi, War is not about balls, it is about Latinum. If they were to incite a war, it would be over trade route blockades (or something of the sort). They are a race who value Material Possessions over all other.

The Ferengi were designed to be a super threat for TNG, however the writers decided to create the Borg. The Ferengi were then developed further in DS9, but were developed as more a trade/profit species.

While I believe Ferengi weaponry to be more ruthless than that of the Federation (because they would have no problem using what the Federation considers "banned" weapons) I don’t think that they would attack a target, unless the profit were substantial enough.

  4. Click for Spoiler:

    A winter's day-

in a deep and dark December

    I am alone-

Gazing from my window to the streets below

On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow.

I am a rock, I am an island.

    I've built walls,

    A fortress deep and mighty

    That none may penetrate

I have no need of friendship

    friendship causes pain

It's laughter and loving I disdain

I am a rock, I am an island

    Don't talk of love

but I've heard the word before

    It's sleeping in my memory

I won't disturb the slumber of the feelings that have died

If I never loved I never would have cried

I am a rock, I am an island

    I have my books

and my poetry to protect me

I am shielded in my armour

Hiding in my room, safe within my womb,

I touch no one and no one touches me.

And a rock feels no pain, and an island never cries.

This is a definate Simon & Garfunkel classic. One of my favs to listen to.

  5. I heard this morning on the radio a 14 year old boy has caught a virus from his computer.  They said it is the imelda Virus.  Quickly I tried to look it up to read about it. The closest word I could come to it was the imidazole virus, will try to nail down the name for sure, but this virus is an organic compound, of course, which occurs in histadine and histamine.  My best guess at this point is it may cause something like a cold, or allergy symptoms.  Maybe itching or eye irritation.  Just guessing now.  Will keep an ear open about it. I always expected that between the keys, on the keyboard, could really harbour some nasty little bugs. I looked down in there, and ICK, and it really doesn't smell too good IN THERE either.  How do we keep the keyboard clean???

The keyboard is soakable. You can submerge it into water. Soak it for a few hours in some warm water. Then let it dry (this is the most important step). Your keyboard should be cleaner and loose the rotten smell.

I do this to my keyboards (I have two computers) twice a year.
