I think the Kirk - McCoy - Spock relationship and chemistry had a lot todo with the success of the series and early movie franchise. Who now what the other cast could have done but what the TOs cast did so was to set the stage for a Sci Fi dynasty.

I agree going slow deliberately. I consider this one of my favorite TNG episodes and one of my top 20 all time Trek episodes. I could watch this every week!

It shouldn't but unfortunately being strapped to the cinder block that is UPN forced both Enterprise and Voyager to try and use sex to boost their. But its not like such things are new to Trek though, the miniskirts of TOS, Troi's uniform which could be seen as a pre-curser to Seven and T'pol, and the two girl-on-girl kisses on DS9 (granted one was appropriate to the story line, the other was not necessary but it fit) and I think Leeta could be thrown into this category but then again she wasn't a major character.
I agree that Trek shouldn't have to use sex to improve rating but they have. At least 7 of 9 did have more depth than T'pol seemed to have making her sexuality the most memorable part of her character imo.

I also liked a number of the first and second season episodes particualrly Hide and Q, The Big Goodbye, Datalore, Farpoint, A Matter of Honor, Q Who and Emisary.

I would also have to go with Patrick Stewart first and Brent Spiner a very close second. They are both superb actors with unique abilities and range.

I have noticed here and elsewhere that some people classify new people to a site as newbies and tend to put them down. Why the negative attitude? Do you want to have them leave? Should they sit quietly back and not participate in discussions? Some of the newbies may be older or in the case of Star Trek, may have been watching it and been fans since before others were even born. Why not help them, show them the ropes etc. Most people on this site are very nice, helpful etc. We were all newbies once. Why not cut new people some slack?

I never did post on ST.com but I was in the ten forward the lounge a lot. I do miss their chat and agree with Kor that it was nice to always find a group of ppl chatting. But this site is much nicer and friendlier!

I love Fall - the changing colors of the leaves, cooler air, harvest season. Spring can be nice too with flowers, returning color etc. Main downside of both seasons is the rain.

Replied to my post in a neutral not negative way. I really appreciate that! Also is a friendly Borg. Do you know Hugh?

Likes Spock, like me. Dislikes loudness, like me. Apparently doesn't like newbies, unlike me.

Nice summary of another very appealing episode. Did not know, or remember, that Walter had written this episode. A giant Spock was a very fun element. The tie-ins with TOS are very interesting in the history of Trek.

The show still interests and at times annoys me. I remember the old series. Although it was pretty tame, it was enjoyable escapism. This is edgier which is ok but comes on a bit strong and defintely dark at times. Perhaps if they had been original and not borrowed the name and outline of the original series I would like it better. Baltar and 5 are annoying at times but it is an interesting element at other times. I liked the original characters on the original show and find many of these new offshoots less likable yet more realistic.

Just wondering if noise effects your life? Where I live, in the city of Chicago, it can be noisy with cars and their horns, loud sound systems, etc. Sirens can be a bit annoying though necessary. Airplane noise is more of a problem as I live along a flight path for O'Hare Airport. Even people talking too loudly on the train or on their cell phones can be intrusive. Do you have similar problems and how do you cope? Get out of the city, use ear plugs, headphones etc? Just curious.

Tho I haven't participated, I would like to. Sunday might work better, but would that be fair to regulars? Would there be some way to repeat at different times or have questions you could send answers to (or do you already do that?) maybe with quick answers getting more points? I also like the idea of some themed trivia - DS9, TOS etc.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy the book rocks. Can't wait to see the movie. Should go to bed, but no, I'm making posts.

Listening to details about Atlanta, GA, USA details of shootings at courthouse and attempt to escape on Larry King show. Thinking I should be doing mail and bills. Thinking about work. Should go to sleep soon.

IF only this is true and not a rumor! Hope springs eternal. Let's hope it's true and meaningful.

I also love alternate timeline stories.. Perhaps Klingons who might have invaded or plundered Earth? Or maybe those warlike Gorn!

Sirens can be ocassioanally annoying, maybe notice one every other day or so at home. Worse is the airplane noise, since I have lived for decades near one or another of the flight paths to O'Hare Airport in Chicago. That noise is more frequent and annoying. I also notice sirens more at work since it's near a busy intersection of two main roads. Just once in a while but do notice them.

Can be annoying, but can't we all?

One of my favorite TOS episodes was the Mirror Universe one with the Fu Manchu
Spock. This should be great!
