1. I agree it was shocking and seemed senseless. Yet that senselessness was used to great advantage in the Yesterday's Enterprise episode where the timeline was affected when the Enterprise C came through the wormhole. We saw Tasha again and she decided to make her death one with meaning. She went through the wormhole, was captured etc changing the timeline again and having a daughter.

I think Yesterday's Enterprise was a great episode and used Tasha's senseless death to great advantage. Denise also got to do some real acting and did a wonderful job.

  2. TNG is my favorite but it's rough comparing a 3 season series vs a 7 season series with spinoffs, not to mention the movies. Without TOS there would be no TNG, TAS, VOY etc. They are both great in their own right. TNG by a hair.

  3. I guess I am a cynic too.  Politicians say things to get quoted or get their picture on tv.  Some may be religious.  However it personally bothered me to hear President Bush talking about the Pope as a man of peace, becuase I consider Bush to be the exact opposite imo.  Let another religious leader say this about the Pope and I will take those remarks more seriously.

Trekz, you REALLY don't know a whole lot about John Paul II, do you? He WAS a peace-maker. He went to Jerusalem to the Wailing Wall and left a note to God asking him to forgive the catholics for their treatment of Jews, AKA, he was the FIRST Pope to APOLOGIZE for atrocities committed by Catholics to Jews. he was also the first Pope to step foot into a Mosque. He WAS a Man of Peace, and President Bush wasn't just paying lip service. as a religious man, I think President Bush truely admired John Paul II. Other politicians, the more Secular ones, probably were giving a bit more lip service to the Pope, but, still, he was a truely good person, and I think the WORLD should be in mourning over the loss of such a good man.

Please read my quote again. I never say I do not think the Pope was a man of peace. He obviously was a great man of peace. What I am saying is that I was upset when President Bush called the Pope a man of peace because I consider President Bush to be a man of war and imo that makes him a poor person to comment on a great peacemaker like the Pope. You may criticize my opinion of President Bush but please do not tell me that I don't know anything about the Pope. I also think the opinion of another religious leader toward the Pope is much more valuable than that of any politician imo.

  4. Yes, North Carolina is National Champion for the 17th time. The rich get richer. It was an interesting game. The Illini relied on their 3 point shooting, perhaps a bit too much. NC was very strong inside. Although the Illini had a great season, I fear it may be another 100 years before they get back to the championship game.

    :P

  5. Many years ago my best friend and I were registering for college our freshman year. Naturally many of the courses we wanted were already closed. When we went up to try to register for these classes we were told we needed to go back and rearrange our schedules. My friend Terry was quite distressed but kept his sense of humor and he declared "I need to go back and rearrange my whole life!" It's been one of my favorite lines ever since.

  7. Well, the Illini did it! They are into the Championship game for the first time ever!

And it's the matchup many people were looking forward to, against North Carolina. I was rooting for an all big ten final but North Carolina deserves to be playing Monday. They had a great game. Should be a great matchup, but of course I'm rooting for the Illini. It's their year - and they've never won a championship! Go Illini! :wow::wow:

  8. I thouoght of a couple more parks in Newfoundland Canada worth mentioning. Gros Morne was impressive with its coastal areas, uplifted geology and lake that was a cut off fjord. Had a great trip at Tera Nova where we saw eagles diving for fish and saw jellyfish. Lanse Aux Meadows was impressive with the remains of a Viking settlement, a rebuilt replica in the park, and a reenactment nearly that was loads of fun.

  9. I was wondering what is your favorite city you've ever visited and why it's your favorite?

Mine are London for its history, monuments, parks, castles, and architecture. Salzbrg and Vienna, Austria for their culture, castles and parks. Dublin for its architecture, people, parks and history. San Francisco for the food, history, Chinatown, the bay, bridge and parks. Washington for its monuments, buildings and history. Boston for its history, bay, 4th of July concert, and fireworks. Tokyo for its size, architecture, and culture.

What are your favorites and why?

  10. Gettysburg national Military Park, I love History

    313507

I love history and Gettysburg is awesone. There is the sadness mentioned in above posts and the stuborness of the combatants there and the willingness to lay down their lives for their country. The tactics and ebb and flow of the battle are also quite impressive as are the many monuments there.

The National Mall is indeed impressive and the Lincoln, Korean War and Vietnam Wall memorials are among my favorites. Across the river is Arlington National Cemetery another moving, emotional place to visit.

  11. I really like Stargate. I have watched it from the beginning, as I have with Star Trek. I really enjoy the humorous elements and the references to Star Trek. If you want to talk about unlikeable characters imo there is the new Battlestar Gallactica, but that's a whole different topic. I agree that the Stargate characters are very appealing and that's a big part of why I watch. The whole wormwhole travel is very appealing too. The supporting characters are also fun to watch develop over time.

  12. I was wondering what is your favorite National park or World heritage site and why? My favorites are:

In the USA it is a tie between Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Parks and the Grand Canyon. They are so amazing with geysers in Yellowstone , mountains and wildlife in the Tetons, and the amazing rock formations and layers in the Canyon. In Canada it would be Banff National Park for the scenery and animals and Yoho Nat'l Park (which contains the Burgess Shale formations) the beauty , glacier and the Falls.. In Ireland it would be Newgrange which is a passage tomb which is older than the pyramids and is one of the most spiritual places I've ever been. In England it would be Stonehenge and Avebury with the standing stones which are also amazing and spiritual.

What are YOUR favorites and why?

  13. Yes it is.

I went to Yellowstone two years ago, and shortly after my visit, (my 10th), the report came out about a possible natural disaster occuring there!!

    :)

    I love that park though.

I won't stop me from going there next summer as planned.

    313061

I agree. It is a wonderful place. I also love Grand Teton, just south. I have hiked around most of the lakes there and have been there 4 times. Its variety with mountains, lakes and sagebrush country is great! I camped there each time

I saw a show on this a couple years ago on TLC or Discovery, in that show they said that if Yellowstone were to erupt it would likely have the same effect on today's Earth as the astroid that supposedly killed off all the dinosaurs. It would basically destroy all life on Earth. I believe the term that they used in that show was "Super Culdera" or something like that.

    313161

I think I saw the same show. Pretty scary. The word might be caldera maybe? Also it would put a real crimp in any camper's vacation plans! :)

  14. I like Genesis. It was pretty cool. I just wish we could have seen some of the other crew members devolve, like some Bolians or Vulcans. Geordi is also never seen devolved, so I think that could have been cool.

Apparently, the original concept was the crew turning into Barclay but this was deemed too extreme.

    308656

I agree it would have been very interesting to see other species like the Bolians, or Vulcans devolve.

I thought it was pretty scary.

    :)   :)

    But a very good episode.

    Terrific directing from Gates McFadden.

    308678

I agree that Gates McFadden's directing was first rate. Wouldn't it be interesting to see a women direct a Star Trek movie?

  15. Wisconsin gave it a good shot but North Carolina earned its way to St. Louis. And Michigan State made it two Big Ten teams in the final four! Whoo Hooo! :) The Big Ten - the superior conference? We'll see. Louisville and North Carolina will both be tough opponents. It's been a great weekend of basketball!

  16. as kor said it is a very good idea to use commas periods and other punctuation otherwise your whole message runs together becomes confusing and could just be ignored or misinterpered plus it could end up giving you a headache or something like that spacingisalsoimportant as is using capital letters at the beginning of each sentence but your teachers must have mentioned that didn't they because if they didn't they really messed up
