  1. It's a little harder for me than posting at a German message board, of course, it takes a little longer for me to finish typing my posts, but it's not that I have to keep a dictionary next to me all the time. :) Reading the board is the same to me as if this was a German board, though. I sometimes even find English more easy than German. :) :)

I took a few German classes in High School and College, and yeah, I prefere reading English too. Those huge compound words screw me up.

  2. Looking at the Packer's roster, it's no wonder they are 3-11. This week, they added two new people to the IR, Punter B.J. Sander, and Tight End Bubba Franks. These are just the lastest injuries that include WR Javon Walker, and Running Backs Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport. this week the Packers will start their SIXTH running back this season, Noah Herrion, in place of shining star Samkon Gado. and people wonder why it is that the Packers suck this year? There is a bright spot: Green Bay, who was predicted to have a bottom-10 Defense this year, actually has a Defense that as late as 8:30 ET this past monday was ranked 5th overall, and 1st against the pass. Appearently, they are experiencing some of the same problems Chicago is: A pretty good defense, and a lackluster offense.

Anyone who saw Sander go down on Monday Night probably joked about being good enough to punt for Green Bay. Well, if you thought so, you missed your chance. the Packers held tryouts this week for a punter, and picked up Ryan Flinn, who was probably mixing drinks in Florida monday night when Sander went down (He's a bartender by trade, Lol!)

Aaron Rogers....He got playing time, but I'd take ol' Majik over him at this point in his career. Rogers isn't ready to step up. Just like Orton or Smith, Rogers needs to take a back seat for a while, and learn from a master. Dispite his age, Favre is still the best in the business right now, and I hope to see him give the Bears the business this weekend.

The Pack were hoping to play a meaningful December game at the beginning of the year when they looked at Christmas day. THis ain't what they had in mind, folks. With a Bears win, the Bears take the division. The Pack could, with the help of the Vikings, play spoilers. If the Pack and the Vikings win, and Minnesota pulls it out next week, Minnesota takes the Division. While I hate the Vikings and Bears equally, I say GO VIKINGS!

  3. From talking to Gary, when you are a store manager, you have more free reign. He got home tonight and said someone called and complained because their pizza wasn't there in half an hour, and that it was cold, and that whenever they called the local competitor, they got it there in 15 minutes, nice and hot. Gary offered to remake it, or refund the money, the person still complained. Gary told them finally, "Ya know, I like Roma's too. And you are right, their service is pretty good. Won't bother me if you get your pizza from there next time" and hung up. If I could have done that as a Customer Service Rep when I worked for Domino's that would have been awesome.

  4. I've heard the game is supposed to be on National TV, so maybe you will see him. I don't have a DVR or anything, so taking a screen shot probably won't happen, but hopefully someone will see him and post it. Maybe I should tell him to put a small "Startrekfans.net" at the bottom?

  5. Lol, that's funny, Takara, but he has the advantage of this game being in Green Bay, which means it's probably the Bears fans getting the ride in the meatwagon.

    Estimated attendance at Sunday's game:

    68,941 Packers Fans

    2,378 Bears Fans.

  6. I was nervous when I joined, but I also had the experiences of my father to draw on. He was a career Navy man, and said that Boot Camp now was nothing like what he went through. and for the most part, he's right. I don't know if the same is true in Aussieland, though.

Just remember the advice I recieved from my uncle, a Marine:

Stand at attention, keep your ears open, chin up, and mouth SHUT. Follow the orders of your Drill Instructor, and try and encourage your fellow recruits. A big part of Boot Camp or Basic Training is developing Teamwork, so if you can work well with others, you will do well.

the problem I had was I always wanted to take charge, even when I wasn't the one in charge. I guess that's why I was recommended for STA-21.

  7. Okay, for those of you who will be watching the Packers/Bears game Christmas Day (5PM Eastern, 2 PM Pacific, FOX), I have a mission for you. Look for my brother. He and his friend will be at the game. He will be holding a sign that says "CHICAGO LOVES THE PACKERS", and wearing a gold combat helmet with Packers decals on the sides.

  8. Well, Folks, it's the first ever Movie Night here at Casa De Phaserman, and on the docket tonight are two of the new-classics about Epic Battles in American History. First on the list of two is Gods and Generals, a mastrerful account of the key battles during the first half of the American Civil War. StarringRobert Duvall ("General Robert E. Lee"), Stephen Lang ("Lt. General Thomas J. 'Stonewall' Jackson"), and Jeff Daniels ("Col. Joshua Chamberlain"), it recounts the crucial battles of 1st Manassas (1st Bull Run for you Yankees out there), Fredericksburg, and Chancellorsville.

Second, and coming up in about 45 minutes or so after the conclusion of Gods and Generals, is the Vietnam War movie We Were Soldiers. a movie starring Mel Gibson as Colonel Hal Moore, commander of one of the first "Air Cav" units. The movie covers the training his men recieve, and also the battle at El Zee X-Ray in the Ia Drang Valley. Great Movies, all.

So, what's on the list for YOUR movie night?

  9. No, just cold, hard, latinum. No personal checks. Checking is Futile.

I would think, having to interact with species that still use currency, the Federation might have something like a Credit System. I can't imagine walking into Sisko's, sitting down, ordering Jumbalya, and making poor Mr. Sisko make that for me, bring it out to my table, then bus the table after I am done and get nothing for it. Perhaps you get paid in credits? Where each credit might be worth 1 strip of Latinum or something.

  10. There is nothing wrong with "old" Sports Centers, if they have some history to them. Lambeau Field, for example, was built over 40 years ago, and is still a great place to watch a football game, or even to play one. And they didn't make the mistake Chicago did when the Bears had Soldier Field renovated. If there is no history to the place, though, then be gone with it.

  11. This is based on that "I Love..." Coors lite jingle...

I Love Playin 2 hand touch,

    eatin' way to much,

    watchin the Pack win,

    And Big Ben...

I Love Snowtires on the Bus,

    Urlacher eatin' dust,

    Gado with the run,

    And Favre is havin' fun

    Remember, folks....

    In GADO We trust,

    In F4VRE We believe

  12. Jim, displaying the tactical genius that makes him feared throughout the quadrant, conveniently finds some ice to slip on, thus avoiding the snowball. emerging with a shovel in hand, Jim utilizes his endurance and strength to become a mobile, snow-throwing peice of human Artillery, giving anyone nearby a good reason to run for the cover of anything that could stop flying snow...

  13. So I was watching "Inside the NFL" on HBO this morning, and one question asked to Marino and Carter was, "Why are there so many Lousy teams?" Marino's answer was priceless...

"I blame it all on Matt Millen!"

I agree. Millen sucks at his job, and his stinkage is infecting the rest of the NFL. the Lions need to seriously consider getting rid of him.
