  1. Some cool TR quotes from http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/..._roosevelt.html

A man who is good enough to shed his blood for the country is good enough to be given a square deal afterwards.

A vote is like a rifle; its usefulness depends upon the character of the user.

Absence and death are the same - only that in death there is no suffering.

Big jobs usually go to the men who prove their ability to outgrow small ones.

Character, in the long run, is the decisive factor in the life of an individual and of nations alike.

Courtesy is as much a mark of a gentleman as courage.

Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

I don't pity any man who does hard work worth doing. I admire him. I pity the creature who does not work, at whichever end of the social scale he may regard himself as being.

If you could kick the person in the pants responsible for most of your trouble, you wouldn't sit for a month.

In a moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing. The worst thing you can do is nothing.

No man is worth his salt who is not ready at all times to risk his well-being, to risk his body, to risk his life, in a great cause.

Obedience of the law is demanded; not asked as a favor.

Rhetoric is a poor substitute for action, and we have trusted only to rhetoric. If we are really to be a great nation, we must not merely talk; we must act big.

Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far.

The first requisite of a good citizen in this republic of ours is that he shall be able and willing to pull his own weight.

The human body has two ends on it: one to create with and one to sit on. Sometimes people get their ends reversed. When this happens they need a kick in the seat of the pants.

The man who loves other countries as much as his own stands on a level with the man who loves other women as much as he loves his own wife.

The only man who never makes a mistake is the man who never does anything.

The pacifist is as surely a traitor to his country and to humanity as is the most brutal wrongdoer.

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.

When you are asked if you can do a job, tell 'em, 'Certainly I can!' Then get busy and find out how to do it.

With self-discipline most anything is possible.

Most of those quotes are probably over a hundred years old by now (The site doesn't give dates), but even the quotes of a century ago can ring true today. "Every immigrant who comes here should be required within five years to learn English or leave the country. " this has actually been something I believe in, though I usually don't voice it that often. I may have to start doing so more often now, knowing that I have the wieght of President Roosevelt behind me...There are quite a few on there that do apply today. Read through, and there are some that get you thinking about the current battle over the imigration laws. It is unfortunate that we probably won't see another Teddy Roosevelt again, because he, I think, was a Great American.

  2. I've said several times, I passed a full ride scholarship to play football at UW Madison...I keep thinking, watching the draft, about what it is I missed. I'm not saying I regret my decision, I don't. If I hadn't chosen the Navy over college, I'd not be the man I am today. I'd probably never have met Julie, I mean there's so much that would be different, and knowing what I know now, knowing how my life has transpired, I think I'd make the same decision again.

  3. At our house, we have a GMC Jimmy, a Ford Excursion, a Chevy Silverado 1500, and a pair of Kia Rios. Julie usually takes one of the KIA's to work, since she works about 20 miles away, but Gary and I both work less than 3 miles away, and Krissy works about 5 miles away, so for the daily drive, it's not a big deal. When Gary has to drive at work, he takes his Kia.

  4. "Da Bears Still Suck" by the Happy Schnapps Combo...since I'm in a great Go Pack mood...

    The Bears Still Suck Polka

    written by J.Krueger-sung by OTTO

How many times must we take this disgrace

Another Bears fan throwing insults in our face

The Packers are the greatest team to ever play the game

Even if from time to time they've been a little lame

How could you ever love a team with Jim McMahon

Not even Porky Pig was as big a ham

They got a reputation that's mostly based on luck

    The Bears…Still…Suck

The Bears still suck, the Bears still suck

The Bears still suck, the Bears still suck

They really really really really really really suck

    Yes the Bears…Still…Suck

If you drive to Soldier Field they make you pay a toll

For cripes sake they only won one lousy Super Bowl

They make fun of Wisconsin, but we don't get upset

Where do you think that they're all headed every chance they get

We don't really hold a grudge 'cause this is all in fun

As far as football rivalries we're both number one

Still we wouldn't mind seeing Ditka run over by a truck

    'Cause the Bears…Still…Suck

The Bears still suck, the Bears still suck

The Bears still suck, the Bears still suck

They really really really really really really suck

    Yes the Bears…Still…Suck

(All the ladies now) The Bears still suck, the Bears still suck

The Bears still suck, the Bears still suck

They really really really really really really suck

    Yes the Bears…Still…Suck

(Everybody now) The Bears still suck, the Bears still suck

The Bears still suck, the Bears still suck

They really really really really really really suck

    Yes the Bears…Still…Suck…HEY !!

  5. small ships have their place in the fleet, but most of what My charactors do in Sims is command large groups of ships, and usually in combat, so naturally I lean towards (In the Federation Fleet) Heavy and Light Cruisers, and destroyers. I rarely use frigates (which by size is what the Mary Rose would be in the star trek world) in fleet operations, just because of how vulnerable they are. I use them as armed recon, and to escort convoys usually.

  6. Hey, APW, here's a ship I designed for the sim I'm in, it's for my charactor's native species, the Valderans. The Renegade's captain would definately not mess with this ship.

Conquerer was designed during the Dominion War to serve as basically a mobile weapons' platform. At 2400 meters long (2.5 Kilometers/1.5 Miles), it is the largest "starship" built in the Alpha Quadrant. Dispite the fact that the Valderan Empire's military budget is large enough to support a good number of these vessels, the expense of the first three ships led to the cancelation of the fourth, but not before the spaceframe was completed. To recoup losses, Valderis Central Shipyards, the primary manufacturer of the Conquerer class, sold the fourth spaceframe to Starfleet at a discounted price after the Valderan Senate agreed to only pay back 75% of the cost of building the ship. Following extensive refits at Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, that vessel was commissioned USS Liberator (NCC-85393).

  7. Green Flag, Boogity Boogity Boogity!

The other day Gary and I went up to Kenosha, to Woodman's, and as we got onto 94, there was no traffic, he said that and I gunned it. I like watching Nascar, and it's so much fun to pretend to be a Nascar driver when you're on the Interstate..."And they're three-wide coming around turn four. Here's the US Navy Chevy Tahoe taking the lead..."

  8. APW, I'm sorry to say, but a ship that size, even with uprated armor and shields, and heavy weapons, is only effective against larger vessels to a certain size. It might match up well against an Akira class light cruiser, but against a Soveriegn class Heavy Cruiser, or a Klingon Negh'Var, Dominion Heavy Cruiser, and Romulan Valdore, that thing is dead. Smaller warships just can't take the kind of abuse those larger ships can dish out.

  9. Wait, TUH, are you talking about the jeans that basically force girls to shave down there in order to wear? Gawd...I think you should have to be 18 at least, if not 21, to buy those. I see girls wear them to school all the time, and it's like, "Where the hell are the rest of your pants?"

  10. Ya know, I don't actually watch the Disney channel that much, but my Nephews do, and so does my son, so maybe they've seen more of her than I have. I know I've heard some of my students talking about that show...
