  1. Well,I spoke to my neighbor Elsie.

While most of the families in the neighborhood have been here less than 10-years,she has lived here since the early 1950s.

She talked my ear off about the house. And,to tell the truth, scared me a little. :nono:

There was another house here before my own.An older house.Back in the 70s,a young couple lived here.Apparently the husband was abusive (verbally and physically) to his wife. After a few years of getting beaten-up,the woman left the man.He bagan drinking heavily, and eventually committed suicide (shot himself) when he could not convince his wife to return.

The house was empty for a year or two, then burned down (arson) around 1981.

The land lay vacant for a few years, when the man who now owns the home I rent built the house I now live in.He personally lived here in the house for a year before leaving and making it a rental property.

The home has been a rental home for the past twenty years (more or less). It,like the previous home, caught fire about 10-years ago (though was saved from major damage by neighbors who caught the fire early and put it out ahead of the fire department's arrival...again,suspected arson). No one, according to Elsie, ever stays for very long.

    I'm not worried about it.

The "forces of evil" should be woried about me.My being a Christian. :dude:

This house is incredibly cheap to rent, compared to other homes in the area of similar size, and I didn't even have to go through the hassel of credit-checks,or even paying a security deposit, etc.I'm not going anywhere.

  2. Why would it worry you if the words "Under God" were removed?

Would it cause you to lose your faith or for the Christian religion to fall?

In all honesty, if the United States Supreme Court did what they were supposed to do and uphold the United States Constitution, then they SHOULD order those two words to be removed from the pledge, or if not then the pledge itself should not be spoken in public schools.

The fact that they won't makes somewhat of a mockery of the court and the purpose they were intended to fulfill. For the Attorney-General to take such a religious bias is an absurdity.

    (Quote....HRH The King)

The thing is,and I know this will cause some people to have a hissy fit....

The United States was founded a Christian nation and has always been a Christian nation and will always be a Christian nation.

And all despite the best efforts of opposing groups trying to change that.

Its not PC to say that. But ask me if I care.

If someone doesn't like the fact that we are "one nation under God",then they can leave.

America has become the world's sole super power due in large part to our acknowledgement of God as the source of our inspiration and strength.I can already hear atheists and non-Christians ranting about that fact, but their rants make that fact no less true.

It's no surprise that as Europe moved further away from Christianity and more toward secularism,it's influence has wained. It's no suprise that an aethiestic state like the USSR fell flat on its face,or that similar nations like North Korea have millions starving and disease run rampant.

You may not know it,but here in the United States we've always been a monarchy. Our Lord and King is Jesus Christ. No body will EVER change that.

That's basically all I have to say on the subject.

    Later!

  3. My sister (the one I take care of) fell in the bathroom last night.Hit her cheek on the rim of the bathtub, and gave herself a pretty good blackeye.

She says she was "pushed",but because of her condition (she is hydrocephalic) she has always had balance issues,soooo....she could have just incorrectly balanced herself getting out of the tub.

I'd really hate to think she was pushed by something.

Other than that, nothing further has happened this week.

  4. There's a little burger joint about 3/4 of a mile from my house that serves an awesome double cheeseburger.

    It's bigger than Wendy's Triple,or Hardee's $6 Dollar burgers.

I'm a grown man with a fairly healthy apetite and I can only eat one (usually feeding the last few bites to my dog, since by that point I'm stuffed).

It comes with everything...red onion, lettuce, pickles, tomato, ketchup, spicy mustard. And the buns are toasted....all that for $2.25. Not bad.

  5. The U.S. Senate drafted a resolution condemning the ruling against the Pledge this morning. And Atty.General Alberto gonzalez says he'll use every resource to keep the words of the Pledge as is.

I know the Supreme Court won't uphold the ruling.Especially with Roberts joining.

    So I've no worries.

The Pledge will continue in it's present form for a long time to come.

  6. "Homesick"

    by MercyMe

You're in a better place, I've heard a thousand times

And at least a thousand times I've rejoiced for you

But the reason why I'm broken, the reason why I cry

Is how long must I wait to be with you

I close my eyes and I see your face

If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place

Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

Help me Lord cause I don't understand your ways

The reason why I wonder if I'll ever know

But, even if you showed me, the hurt would be the same

Cause I'm still here so far away from home

I close my eyes and I see your face

If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place

Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

In Christ, there are no goodbyes

And in Christ, there is no end

So I'll hold onto Jesus with all that I have

    To see you again

    To see you again

And I close my eyes and I see your face

If home's where my heart is then I'm out of place

Lord, won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

Won't you give me strength to make it through somehow

I've never been more homesick than now

(Last night I was thinking about my parents,my grandmother and the other family members I've lost in the past 10-years...too many, and feeling very depressed and dark, then this song came on.It didn't exactly cheer me up,but it spoke to my emotional state at the time.Thought I'd track down the lyrics and share them).

  7. My older brother David, has a worse nickname than I do....

We call him "Goober" (which he loathes  ).

His grandad (which is not mine,we had different dads) pinned that on him in infancy, since to that old Arkansas peanut farmer, his grandson's head looked like a peanut! :yahoo:

We've even got his new wife calling him that now.

Of course, since he's about 6'4'' and weighs about 280 (muscle, not fat...this guy tosses motors around all day at his garage),I never call him that unless I have an avenue of escape.

  8. At one point I went nuts with naval terminology in my fanfic.

Anyone reading would have assumed the starship I was writing about was an English Man-o-War sailing the Indian Ocean in the late 18th century, instead of a 24th century spacecraft.

I had to cut down, but it was hard.I love those terms.

  9. I feel soooooo sorry for that kid.

More because his dad is Kevin Federline (that may be spelled wrong),than anything else. But having Britney for a mother is about as bad.

I heard Christina Aguilara say that in her opinion,Britney will never make a comeback.I think I agree. But who knows?Michael Jackson is still as popular as ever in Asia and Africa. There may be a career for Britney in Java or Namibia.

  10. None of the major races in Star Trek should be written into the Federation.

It simply makes them bland and dull.

The Federation should consist of Humans (as the focal point), Vulcans (as exposition characters) and some minor races like the Trill, Betazoids, Bolians etc....

The Andorians for example should be seperated from the Federation and developed as an independent nation.

    352053[/snapback]

    I agree.

I was glad when the Bajorans didn't join the UFP.The Federation consists of far too many races and cultures. In reality it would never work.Take the UN.That barely works, and it's members are all human.

The Klingons would never join the Federation.

  11.

I think the house I just moved into is haunted.

    Weird things have been happening.

At night,I'll be laying in bed and I'll hear my sister or nephew call me.Their voices are very clear (but always just a little off in tone).I go and see what they need and they'll be sleeping. It happens a lot.

Also,a day or two ago a dish rag on the edge of the sink tossed itself at my nephews back. The first time he didn't really think too much about it and put it back. But as he was leaving the kitchen,it splatted against his back again. That's when he brought it to me and told me what happened.

This morning,a box of Little Debbie snack cakes flipped out of my reach when I tried to pick up the box.

Later on in the day, a framed picture flipped off it's shelf and shattered against the couch arm.

It's nothing scary. At least,I don't feel frightened or threatened by it.It's more as if we are being played with.

    Odd.

  12. So,fess up...what is your embarrassing nickname?

Most of the people I know have had one pinned on them by somebody...their parents,a sibling,a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Back in the 70s when Mork & Mindy was popular,Mork had an alien pet that looked like a tribble. He called it "Bebo".

Well,at the time (I was about 5 or 6) my mother decided that my head full of curly brown hair looked like Mork's pet and began calling my Bebo.

From that time until she passed away this May,she would call me that and not my given name, despite the fact that it embarrassed the heck out of me.Especially when she called me Bebo at school or in front of women... :blush 2:

Now all my nephews and nieces call me that.Uncle Bebo (except for one nephew who insists on calling me "Uncle Brother").

I guess it doesn't bother me much anymore.

  13. Worrying that my horror-themed website won't be ready by Halloween.

There are many days between then and now,but the project is huge and I am the only person working on it.

I don't want as much a message board as a resource site for horror film fans.So I'm adding a lot of information, which is very time consuming.

I spent more than 10-hours this past weekend just posting an index of horror films (not the entire index....just the "A" and "B" sections.the index is in alphabetical order),and the "A" section of the horror television series index.

I have also spent several hours doing research at places like Wikipedia and TV Tome,to name a few.

    Its a labor of love.

I hope I'll be done by Halloween. Then all of you can check it out, whenever you need info on a movie, director, actor,or whatever.Or just drop by and post a "hello."

  14. Just checking out my bank book and some other things.

    Jeez,money sure goes quick.

I came into a small windfall last week, and it's almost all gone already (I bought my sister and nephew some clothes...not a lot,but a few things, and myself a new CD and DVD...we ate out a couple times).

    Oh well.

I can't help it.I have too much of my mother in me.I can't hang on to cash.

Now my dad, that guy could pinch a penny until it screamed for mercy (he grew up in the depression). Not my mom.She blew through saving's accounts like nobody's business.

I'm almost as bad. :blush 2:
