  1. WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

What a friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and griefs to bear!

    What a privilage to carry

    Ev'rything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit,

Oh what needless pain we bear,

All because we do not carry

    Ev'rything to God in prayer!

    Have we trials and temptations?

    Is there trouble anywhere?

    We should never be discouraged,

Take it to the Lord in prayer:

Can we find a friend so faithful

Who will all our sorrows share?

    Jesus Knows our every weakness,

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,

Cumbered with a load of care?

    Precious Saviour, still our refuge;

Take it to the Lord in prayer:

Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?

    Take it to the Lord in prayer;

    In His arms He'll take and shield thee;

Thou wilt find a solace there.

  2. My aunt (my father's sister) and uncle live in Iberia Parrish,in a little ramshackle house out in the boonies.I used to visit them when I was a kid. They're in their 80s now,and I can't contact any of my relatives in Loreauville or Jeanerette to see if they are allright.

I keep checking the Daily Iberian newspaper online, and it looks like Iberia Parrish made out okay.I hope so.

I love those two crazy old folks.

The Rocky Mount North Carolina Police Department has canceled the Amber Alert on Tuesday August 30, 2005 after the girl was found safe in Demoin, Iowa at a Greyhound bus station. The suspect is still at large at this time.

I'm glad they found this little girl alive.

Now,they need to catch this pervert and throw him in jail....for a long time.

  4. LeVar,if he did say those things,is just voicing an opinion that I,and many other Trek fans have had felt for quite some while.

To be truthful,I was starting to get a little Trek burnout toward the end of Voyager's 6th season.By the series final,I was in full blown Trek-overdose.I stopped watching reruns, reading the novels,or doing anything Trek for months.

And when Enterprise debuted,I hesitated before watching it (missed the entire first season).

If there's any truth to the saying that absence makes the heart grow fonder, then the next Trek series (if there is one) should be awesome,IF Paramount waits a decade or so.In the meantime, there are some awesome Trek novels and fanfic being written.

  5. It was The Irish Rovers.

It was called The Unicorn song.

It was about noah collecting aminals for the ark and why there are no

unicorns today they were to busy playing in the rain.

(green alligators and long neck geese some humpty back camels

and some chimpanzes some cats and rats and elephants

but sure as your born your never going to see a unicorn)

The chours to the song. why i still remember this?

    349653[/snapback]

    I love that song!

I haven't heard it in years.

  6. This is a very old one.

    "Beulah Land"

I’ve reached the land of corn and wine,

    And all its riches freely mine;

Here shines undimmed one blissful day,

For all my night has passed away.

    Refrain:

O Beulah Land, sweet Beulah Land,

As on thy highest mount I stand,

I look away across the sea,

Where mansions are prepared for me,

And view the shining glory shore,

    My heav’n, my home forevermore!

My Savior comes and walks with me,

    And sweet communion here have we;

He gently leads me by His hand,

    For this is Heaven’s borderland.

A sweet perfume upon the breeze,

Is borne from ever vernal trees,

And flow’rs that never fading grow

Where streams of life forever flow.

The zephyrs seem to float to me,

    Sweet sounds of Heaven’s melody,

As angels with the white-robed throng

Join in the sweet redemption song.

  7. Alright, enough of this religious guff.

Time for something pure evil.  :devil2:

    Say your prayers little one

    Don't forget my son

    To include every one

    I tucked you in

    Warm within

    Keep u free from sin

Until the sand man he comes

    Sleep with one eye open

    Grippin' your pillow tight

    Exit light

    Enter night

    Take my hand

    Off to never neverland

    Something’s wrong

    Shut the light

    Heavy thoughts nights

    And they aren't so white

dreams of war, dreams of lairs

    dreams of dragon's fire

And of things that will bite

    Sleep with one eye open

    Grippin' your pillow tight

    Exit light

    Enter night

    Take my hand

    Off to never neverland

Now I lay me down to sleep

(Now I lay me down to sleep)

Pray the lord my soul to keep

(Pray the lord my soul to keep)

If I die before I wake

(If I die before I wake)

Pray the lord my soul to take

(Pray the lord my soul to take)

Hush little baby, don't say a word

And never mind that noise you heard

It's just the beasts under your bed,

In your closet, in your head

    Exit light

    Enter night

    Grain of sand

    Exit light

    Enter night

    Take my hand

    Off to never neverland

    I like Metallica.

Not as much since they sued Napster...

Motorhead's version of this song is better, though.

    Lemmy rules! :dude:

    Okay,

    Chris Tomlin

    "The Way I was Made"

Caught in the half-light, I’m caught alone

Waking up to the sunrise, and the radio

Feels like I’m tied up, what’s holding me?

Juts praying today will be the day I go Free.

    Chorus:

I want to live like there’s no tomorrow

I want to dance like no one’s around.

I want to sing like no one’s listening.

Before I lay my body down

I want to give like I have plenty.

I want to love like I’m not afraid.

I want to be the man I was meant to be.

I want to be the way I was made.

Made in Your likeness, made in Your hands.

Made to discover who You are and who I am

All I’ve forgotten help me to find.

All that You’ve promised let it be in my life.

  8. Todd Agnew

    "This Fragile Breath"

I searched the world for a song that I could sing

Praise to my King, A gift that I could bring

But no music I found could compare to You

Not one could do Justice to Your glory

What are my songs compared to Yours

    Chorus:

You speak with thunder and lightening

    Your voice shakes the mountains

    The foundations of the earth

All I can offer is this fragile breath

With each one I'll praise You

With each one I'll praise You more

I searched the world for a poem I could read

A rhyme that would bring Glory to my King

But no writing I found was worthy of

This God high above all other gods

What are my words compared to Yours

    Chorus

  9. Storms like this are one reason I'm glad I'm moving to California next month.

I was watching the news yesterday, and everyone was saying that New Orleans had escaped the dire predictions everyone had for the Crescent City, and then when I went online this morning I saw all those broken levy's and....boy oh,boy. Its a mess.

I've heard (at CNN.com) that two-thirds or more of New Orleans won't be habitable for weeks.

And natural disaster aside, the "usual gang of idiots" (looters) are taking advatage to break into stores and shops and steal as much as they can carry. The fools were actually dancing and pulling faces for the news camera's as they were kicking in doors and carrying stolen goods.

  10. "The Man With The Screaming Brain" is coming on Sci-fi September 10 at 9pm! It's written, directed and stars Bruce Campbell. Fans of his know that he has been working on this movie for a long time so it's good that it's finally coming

    (Gamera)

I've heard Bruce Campbell proposed a multi-studio blockbuster film.

    "Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash"

In which his Evil Dead/Army of Darkness character Ash,would go Chainsaw-hand to knife-tipped glove to machette swinging fist against Jason Vorhees and Fred Krueger,in a sequal to Freddy Vs. Jason.

    He was turned down.Too bad.

I would have liked to see Ash kick their butts.

  11. It would be great if the scientific community approached OBE's with open-minds.

Unfortunately, most research is conducted by people who have already decided in their own opinion, the causes of OBE's.And no matter what data they collect, they seldom change their minds.

    Maybe this study is different?

    :tribble:

  12. As far as "child" crewmen aboard ships goes,Lefler was the best.

Better than The Great and Powerful Wesley, anyway.

Her character is in the Excalibur books, right?

(Didn't Peter David just collect all of Enterprise-D's second stringers and form a crew out of them?

Not that that's a bad thing.....not very original, but not bad.)

  13. The Wiz.

I like this version better than The Wizard of Oz,actually.

This time they need a MUCH younger Dorothy, than Diana Ross was (back in '78).

Also,a different scarecrow.I don't know if Michael Jackson can draw in as big a crowd anymore.

I'd love to have Nipsy Russell as Tin man again, but he's gotten kind of old.

They'd need to replace Richard Pryor as the Wizard,too....that'd be hard.

    :tribble:

  14. I'LL FLY AWAY

Some glad morning when this life is o'er,

    I'll fly away;

To a home on God's celestial shore,

I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

    [Chorus]

    I'll fly away, Oh Glory

I'll fly away; (in the morning)

When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,

I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

When the shadows of this life have gone,

    I'll fly away;

Like a bird from prison bars has flown,

I'll fly away (I'll fly away)

    [Chorus]

    I'll fly away, Oh Glory

I'll fly away; (in the morning)

When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,

I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

Just a few more weary days and then,

    I'll fly away;

To a land where joy shall never end,

I'll fly away (I'll fly away)

    [Chorus]

    I'll fly away, Oh Glory

I'll fly away; (in the morning)

When I die, Hallelujah, by and by,

I'll fly away (I'll fly away).

This was my mom's favorite gospel song (mine, too).

  15. The Sci-fi channel has also shown those horrible Flintstones movies...

    What was up with that?

I actually prefer the way Sci-Fi channel used to be when it first debuted on cable.

They used to show some awesome movies. Now we get a steady diet of "B" movie-of-the-week (actually considering some of the films I've watched on Sci-Fi,I think I just insulted B movies).

:tribble: Could be considered Sci-Fi,what with his utility belt and crime-fighting gadgets,IMO.

  16. DRUG PROBLEM

    (author unknown)

I had a "drug" problem when I was a young person

    and teenager.

I was "drug" to church on Sunday morning.

I was "drug" to church on Sunday night.

I was "drug" to church on Wednesday night.

I was "drug" to Sunday School every week.

I was "drug" to Vacation Bible School.

I was "drug" to the family altar to read the bible and pray.

I was also "drug" to the woodshed when I disobeyed

    my parents.

Those "drugs" are still in my veins; and they affect my

behavior in every thing I do, say, and think. They are

stronger than cocaine, crack or heroin. and if our

children had this kind of "drug" problem,

America would certainly be a better place.

(I found this while browsing random Christian websites earlier tonight.I liked it and decided to share.)

  17. Goofing around with my PC's paint program and creating some desktop backgrounds.

Mentally preparing a shoping list for tomorrow's trip to the store.

Listening to Tarzan 2 (the kids are watching it in the living room).

Wishing I'd bought extra chinese food at lunch today....I skipped dinner, and now I'm hungry again (but not for anything I have in the fridge...I want more Chinese Chicken Salad).

  18. Russ Lee

    "I Smile"

    Lost and all alone

Looking for a reason for being

    In this crazy world

    Trying to go on

    Looking for the answers

    To the questions

    And there You were

    From the moment You appeared

    Everything became so clear

I'm so glad that You're here, Lord

I smile when I think about

The way You've turned my life around

I smile when I think about

The happiness in You I've found

I'm so amazed at what Your love has done

And when I think the best is yet to come

    I smile!

    I smile!

    Wandering the dark

    Lost in the confusion

I thought I was losing my mind for sure

I searched with all my heart

    Looking for direction

    Something to believe in

    And there You were

And You were reachign down to me

    You were everything I needed

I'm so glad You found me, Lord

'Cause You've turned all my gray skies

To the brightest blue, yes, You did

And my life feels like sunshine

    And it's because of You

All because of You.. I smile
