  1. I gave it a 3. It had its ups and downs.

    Best lines:

RIVAN: And I welcome this huge one.

She gives him a long, sensual hug.

    WORF: Nice planet.

    And

EDO GIRL:I want to do something too . . . with you.

    WESLEY: Uh . . . what?

EDO GIRL: It's something you can teach me. Will you?

    WESLEY: Uh . . . well, actually, there are some . . . games . . . I don't quite know

  2. Indeed...for me, this episode still holds up as one of my favorite TNG cool exploration episodes. When they first get thrown into that other galaxy, I loved that it was Data that suggested they take the opportunity to explore.

    My favorite scene:

Maman: "You look tense, Jean-Luc. Come and have a cup of tea."

    Picard: "Maman!"

Maman: "I'll make it good and strong, the way you like it. We will have a nice long talk."

Picard: "This can't be. You've been..."

Maman: "Dead? But I'm always with you, you know that."

Picard: "Yes, I've felt that. But why now, suddenly."

Maman: "You mean out here? At what you say us the end of the universe? Or do you see this as the beginning of it?"

Picard: "We believe it the outer rim. Maman, do you understand these things? Can you tell me where my ship is? What is this place?"

Riker: "Captain? You were reported headed for..."

    (Picard turns to Riker)

Picard: "Just a moment, Number One!"

(Picard turns back, but his mother is gone)

    FANTASTIC!!!

I also enjoyed the scene where Picard when through the door and almost stepped off the Enterprise into space!

And the idea of the Traveler, that he could manipulate time and space and how such things were like music for others. I really wished they had taken that farther with Wesley's character. Oh well.

I give it a FIVE! (I know not a lot of Photon torpedoes were fired.)

  3. I gave it a 2.

It had Q and that's worth a couple of stars, the rest was pretty weak. It set the tone for wrecking Wesely's character, too bad because I think he might have been a decent chacter if they handled better in these 1st few episodes.

  4. Sure I would!

You could always walk among the commoners if you like as we saw with Kevin Uxbridge as a Douwd, an immortal being with vast powers in 3rd season Next Gen Episode The Survivors.

"I saw her broken body... I went insane. My hatred exploded. And in an instant of grief... I destroyed the Husnock!'"

"No, no, no, no, you don't understand the scope of my crime. I didn't kill just one Husnock, or a hundred, or a thousand. I killed them all. All Husnock, everywhere."

    - Kevin Uxbridge

  5. The Bynars weren't great, but they made the story. Minuet was quite attractive. The story on the holodeck was good, and I loved the jazz musicians. The interaction between Picard and Riker was solid as well, not to mention Geordi and Data, too.

All true with the exception of, I liked the Bynars, so it gets a 5!

Interesting from start to finish, it really held my attention.

  6. 1. Q's vicious animal things...

    2. Wesely dies horribly...

    3. Q...

    4. Q as Soong Type Andriod...

    5. Worf gets a kinky girlfriend...

That all adds up to 5 Stars from me!

  7. I give it a 4.

It's actually one of the few BIG Tasha Yar episodes.

Back then the holodeck seems really cool with the Martial Arts training and whatnot.

  8. Well, at least she spent the money on important things........... :lick:

    True that.

Me I'm alwyas trying to figure in the budget how to squeezing in more Trek DVD boxed sets along with groceries, mortgage, kid's clothes, insurance... there is never enough $$$...

It looks like this woman found a way to make it all work. :sniffle:

  9. Renton WA woman sentenced for embezzling

A Renton woman who is five weeks' pregnant has been sentenced to four months in federal custody after pleading guilty to embezzling $41,733 from the Seattle Police Officers' Guild.

Thirty-seven-year-old Tara Mullins was the guild's bookkeeper from February 2003 until her termination in November 2005.

As part of her guilty plea, Mullins admitted to writing fraudulent checks, some from employee-benefit accounts, and depositing them into her own account.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says she also forged a guild officer's signature and transferred money from guild accounts to her online PayPal account, using the money for televisions, and movie and "Star Trek" memorabilia.

Federal authorities say whenn Mullins was fired, police found $10,000 in benefits checks that were not mailed to police officers or vendors.

U.S. District Judge John Coughenour says Mullins would be released in time to deliver her baby.

  10. There is no poll here, however I'd say the long hair is ahead by a lot.

I too am a fan of long hair Kira as well.

I'm sure they went with the short hair to get across that 'hard a _ _" image. But Kira was that with or without the short hair.

  12. J.J. Abrams Talks Star Trek

Source: Scott Huver July 16, 2008

For the past several months getting any information out of the always enthusiastically secretive J.J. Abrams camp about his re-launch of the classic Star Trek series for the big screen has been about as easy as getting light out of a black hole.

But when ComingSoon.net cornered Abrams at a big Hollywood event this week, we were surprised that he seemed finally ready to reveal a few tiny, tantalizing hints about his version of the final frontier, as well as his feeling about the franchise and his film's old school standard bearer – and we didn't even have to pull a phaser on him.

CS: You've said that you didn't start out as an uber-fan of "Star Trek," but you quickly became a fan. Can you talk in general terms about what you fell in love with about the whole franchise?

Abrams: I fell in love with the relationships between the characters. I fell in love with the characters. The idea of – it's so funny because you hear something so often and it loses it's meaning. But "space, the final frontier" – if you actually consider space as uncharted territory there's something about the idea of these people, because any ship flying by isn't going to get you excited. It's who's on the ship that matters. I feel like these characters actually going out into that nothingness and finding something is great. Having lived with it now and gotten to know the characters and worked with amazing actors who portrayed them, it made me fall in love with that notion, that idea that for some reason never struck me the way that "Twilight Zone" did.

CS: Are you ready to talk about the Jennifer Morrison character? There's been a lot of speculation and confusion as to exactly who she's playing.

Abrams: She is so great. I'll just say that she plays Kirk's mother. She's awesome. Great.

CS: Does the film feature many flashback sequences? We also know that Winona Ryder is playing Spock's mother.

Abrams: Yeah, most of the movie is not - I wouldn't call them flashbacks, but she's in a great sequence and is so good. I love her.

CS: What can you say about about working with Leonard Nimoy?

Abrams: It was really just a dream experience, working with him. He is everything you want him to be. He's funny and incredibly thoughtful and was surprisingly open and receptive to direction. He's just got an amazing wife and family and working with him was literally... Like the other day we were doing some ADR and he was there and because we weren't shooting anymore I was standing there and I just looked at him while he was doing his thing. I wanted to burn it into my head. It was so great to get to work with that guy. He's just an amazing man and is terrific in the movie.

CS: Is he a major presence in the film?

Abrams: Yeah. I think he's a major presence in any scene he's in. He's terrific.

Star Trek opens in theaters on May 8, 2009.

  13. Perhaps you could reawaken their patriotic spirit. Weyoun

Broca: If I could talk to the rebels, get them to change their minds...

Weyoun: (offers a suggestion) Perhaps you could reawaken their patriotic spirit.

    Broca: (grabs the suggestion) Exactly!

Weyoun: (burns the suggestion) On the other hand, they're just as likely to convince you to betray us.

That was a good one :sniffle:
