  1. The other one doesn't really need to be of Reman race for the principle to work. He could just be a Romulan representing Remans. But probably as mentioned the other one was just the Romulan number one. Anyway if there ever was an idea of dual command it was dropped almost immidiately.

I wouldn't be surprised if we never see Remans again.

I don't believe they will make an appearance in JJ Abram's Trek movie even though the Romulans are the main villains.

  2. On the TAS series, people in space are able to breathe without the use of a huge space suit by pushing a button on their belts. But, in the 24th century live action series, they are still using space suits. I know that TAS isn't considered official canon, but I would think they would have been able to eliminate the use of bulky space suits by the 24th century the way they have in the TAS series. Thoughts?

That's one of the big reasons TAS was never offical canon. The cartoon was doing little things like 'the life support belts' and the live action shows/movies were sticking with Space Suits.

  3. I have only seen one or two of TAS and it would have been a good show it was shown about Sunday mornings over here but ealry enough for people to watch but only kids really since it was on about 6am.

In my opinion if it was aimed more at trekkies who wanted there fix of Star Trek it would have done better but it was aimed at the younger generation more and therefore fell flat.

Bit I would love to see TNG TAS Or maybe a Ds9 version

Fell flat? It was the only Trek series to ever win an Emmy!!!

I bought the entire DVD boxed set and it never mentioned in the supplemental section that the ratings were bad or anything of that nature. I'm leaning towards one of the major players (Shanter or Nimoy) didn't want to do it any longer. Hence no 2nd season. Or the actors wanted a pay hike... again no 2nd season.

  4. I'm going waaaaaay outside the box and saying Kevin Costner's baseball trilogy of...

    Bull Duram

    FieldOD1.JPG

    Field of Dreams

    and

For the Love of the Game

Field of Dreams is my favorite sports movie EVER!

And I know a lot of people even like Bull Duram best out of the three.

  5. And in the 23rd century TOS the women could look like women.

In the 24th century they all had to look too butch

Though I prefer the 23rd century uniform because they had a little colour to them.

Someone has mentioned that as the Trek series went on the uniforms became less an less colorful with each incarnation. That certainly appears to be the case.

  6. And that is yet another reason why Enterprise was cancelled and the ratings were in the toilet.

Paramont can come out with Enterprise NCC-1701-0 starring Capt. Robert April (between Archer and Kirk) and have 12 part arc with the Ferengi and Borg opening embassies on Earth and they can take two parts of the 12 to explain why it is and that still wouldn't make it right.

  7. War loving Vulcans?

But that was explained in the Vulcan arc in season 4. Until the Kir'Shara was found most Vulcans were not following the true teachings of Surak.

And the head of the Vulcan High Command?

I know he wasn't Vulcan after all, but come on! He had more tantrums than a preschooler and he supposed to pass as Vulcan?

There was nothing said in the series that V'Las, head of the Vulcan High Command was not Vulcan. He met with a Romulan agent once but it was never said or implied that he was not Vulcan himself.

Well... I got the impression at the end of the 3 part arc that he was a Romulan in operating undercover as a Vulcan.

And if you are correct and he was a Vulcan after all... GOD HE WAS AWEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Britney Spears, Courtney Love and Naomi Campell are all better Vulcans.

  8. I prefer the 23rd century uniforms. The newer ones look like some sort of post apocalypse Road Warrior football uniforms with the shoulder pads what looks like metallic armor.

And in the 23rd century TOS the women could look like women. :notworthy:

  9. Hey Vic,

    How about tropical storm Dolly?

Tropical Storm Dolly Threatens Texas Coast

    Last update: 11:43 a.m. EDT July 22, 2008

WASHINGTON, July 22, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Red Cross Provides Hurricane Preparedness Tips and Encourages Families to Use Safe and Well Website

According to forecasters, Tropical Storm Dolly may strengthen to become a Category 1 Hurricane and a hurricane warning is currently in effect from Rio San Fernando, Mexico to Port O'Connor, Texas. In preparation for the storm, the American Red Cross has shelters on standby in Texas and is working with local community partners to address additional shelter needs. In addition, more than 50 emergency response vehicles are ready to respond. As Dolly continues to track northwestward toward the Texas coast, the American Red Cross encourages residents to prepare by completing the below checklist.

-- Monitor media reports. Watch TV, listen to AM/FM or NOAA weather radio and check the Internet for updates.

-- Review or develop a family communication plan so you will know how to contact each other and where to meet. Identify an out-of-area contact person that family members and friends can call if you are separated from one another.

-- Register with the Red Cross Safe and Well Web site. If you are affected by a disaster, this public site provides a way for you to register yourself and communicate your well-being to your family members. You can input information directly or via phone. The site is accessible via www.redcross.org.

-- Update or create your disaster supplies kit. Your kit should have the following items: 3-day supply of water (1 gallon per person, per day), nonperishable food, manual can opener, flashlight, battery-operated or crank radio, extra batteries, first aid kit, prescription and non-prescription medications, cash, and copies of important documents such as bank account numbers, social security card, driver's license and insurance policies.

-- Prepare your home. Bring inside: bicycles, lawn furniture, trash cans, hanging plants, outdoor decorations or ornaments, or anything else that can be carried by the wind. Close windows and doors, then close hurricane shutters or cover windows with plywood.

-- Stay away from floodwaters. If you come upon a flooded road, turn around and go another way. If you are caught on a flooded road and waters are rising rapidly around you, get out of the car quickly and move to higher ground. The floodwaters may still be rising and the car could be swept away at any moment.

-- Plan your evacuation route. Use local maps and identify alternate evacuation routes from home, work and/or school. Know where you are going and how you plan to get there before you leave home.

-- Evacuate immediately if advised to do so. Follow the direction of local authorities on which routes to take, which evacuation shelters to seek and other important advice.

-- Take your pets with you. If it is not safe for you, it is not safe for them. Red Cross emergency shelters cannot accept pets unless they are service animals. Prepare a list of family, friends, pet-friendly motels and boarding facilities that could shelter your animals.

For more information on hurricane preparedness, or to register a family member on Safe and Well, visit www.redcross.org, or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
