  1. Now...just to get Paramount and Disney to talk to each other...or Paramount and Universal (probably even harder to do).

universal has worked with paramont in the the past... Nickelodeon is an example and there was a small star trek thing in the early 90's at universal.

I believe the Star Trek attraction in the early 1990s was at MGM Studios, not at Universal. It was where you could insert yourself into a Trek movie. Lots of footage from Trek II and III were used I believe. I have a video of me and my family "starring" in such a movie around here someplace.

That being said, since all of the rides at Universal center around movies, it would seem to be a great home for The Experience. A really nice fit with the other rides. I hope it happens!

The Star Trek video attraction was at Universal in Orlando right next to King Kong. MGM does have Star Tours and the Endor Vendor Star Wars stuff.

  2. I love James Bond, I love Godzilla, I love comic books, however this is a Star Trek site hence 'Stephen of Borg'.

In my humble opinion Star Trek in general needs to be a bit more pominent on this site. The more stuff I have to wade through (some I like, some I have zero interest in) to find Trek/Sci-fi stuff the less happy I am being here.

  3. Imo, there are no problems with the originals. The reason that TOS was so good was not the f/x anyways (although the series was all the more endearing for trying its best with what was available at the time). Its popularity was due to the stories and the imaginations of the viewers.

I watched 'Catspaw' this weekend from my second season remastered set. The remastered folks made a big deal about reworking the castle and that was the awesome high water mark of the remastered 'Catspaw' - I couldn't have cared less. It was six of one half dozen of the other vs. the original 60s version of the castle door. Now, what I did enjoy was the crisp/sharp picture and vivid colors like I had never seen 'Catspaw' before and that's good stuff.

  4. On Kronos: Historically Conservative's are often more aggressive than Liberals in stating their opinions. The problem I see is the Left often break under the Rights pressure; they then either give up or cross the line going from arguing their case to fighting which draws a Warning PM from me. They then hi-tail-it-out blaming me for not doing something to protect them and/or accusing me of being bias. Note: the same has also occurred in reverse but Righties, for some reason I don't understand, tend to better deal with being disciplined.

It's interesting I had a simliar thought when I read the note on their page. If they would stick around instead of splitting perhaps they wouldn't be sooooo outnumbered anymore and the numbers fo lefties to righties would tend to even out. At any rate promoting a shared interest in Star Trek/Sci-Fi is I think the #1 reason everyone is here.

  5. Naaa, It was just same old HUGE Enterprise problem for 4 seasons, can't meet Gorn, Ferengi, Borg, Romulans... Just break the cannon/mythology of Star Trek... Over and over... and meet them anyway.

Enterprise didn't break canon over any of those species or, at the very least, they didn't break canon that hadn't already been broken by another series or movie.

Gorn: First contact with the Gorn was made in TOS. That doesn't mean the species was not known about before then. Other than in the mirror universe episode, no Gorn were seen or encountered thus no breach in canon.

Ferengi: The Ferengi were on Earth in 1947. The American military thought they were Martians while Archer didn't know what they were when he encountered them. If you consider "Little Green Men" to be a canon breach then ENT only breached canon that was already broken. If you don't consider the DS9 episode a canon breach then neither was the ENT episode.

Borg: If you consider the episode Regeneration a canon breach then you have to blame ST:FC for breaking canon first. There's nothing to say that the Borg experience wasn't covered up by Starfleet or, more likely, Section 31 in the 22nd century so there was no record of the encounter known to people in the 24th century.

Romulans: Kirk was the first human to see a Romulan. No Romulans were seen by humans on ENT. Romulans were known to humans prior to TOS otherwise there couldn't have been the Earth-Romulan War that occurred around 2160. It makes sense that ENT had Romulans in episodes to start setting up why there was a war that takes place within 5 years of when season 4 was set.

There are canon breaches in all the series including TOS breaching its own canon. Many alleged ENT canon breaches are actually breaches of "false canon" (something that people believe to be canon that actually isn't) rather than actual canon.

It's Sci-fi, so you can really bend the rules as much as necessary and justify it. There are a lot of people that want put Shatner as Kirk back in Star Trek XI along with Nimoy as Spock, but Kirk was killed in Star Trek Generations they say, so bring him back anyway. I'm a pain, I say he died in Generations = No Kirk. Note: I love Kirk and I think Shat is the Cat. :hand:

And you can look all around the web for polls on who is the best Captain? Two results seem to be a constant Picard comes in first & Archer comes in last place every time. Archer scores so poorly because Enterprise was the weakest Trek franchise (now, this is just my opinion mind you) because of these constant canon barriers Enterprise had to work around of going backward instead of forward = the show always had big problems and really never prospered like the other series did.

    Peace,
