  1. This was in my inbox this morning. I thought it was kinda funny.....

Subject: Customer Service- a true story

If you have ever had to deal with a major

    corporation's customer service then you

    will really appreciate this.

My Aunt died this past January. Citi Bank

billed her for February and March for their

    monthly service charge on her

credit card, and then added late

fees and interest on the monthly

    charge...the balance had been

    $0.00... now was somewhere

    around $60.00)

I placed the following phone call

    to CitiBank:

Me: "I am calling to tell you that

    she died in January."

    CitiBank: "The account was never

closed and the late fees and charges still apply."

Me: "Maybe, you should turn it

    over to collections..."

CitiBank: "Since it is 2 months past due, it already has been."

Me: "So, what will they do when

they find out she is dead?"

    CitiBank: "Either report her account

to the frauds division, or report her to

    the credit bureau...maybe both!"

Me: "Do you think God will be

    mad at her?"

    CitiBank:"...excuse me .....?"

Me: "Did you just get what I was

telling you.... the part about her

    being dead?"

    CitiBank: "Sir, you'll have to

    speak to my supervisor!"

    (Supervisor gets on the phone)

Me: ''I'm calling to tell you,

    she died in January."

    CitiBank: "The account was never

closed and the late fees and charges

    still apply."

Me: "You mean you want to collect

    from her estate?"

    CitiBank: ".....(stammer)" ....

    "Are you her lawyer?"

Me: "No, I'm her great nephew."

    (Lawyer info given... )

    CitiBank: "Could you fax us

    a certificate of death?"

Me: "Sure." ( Fax number is given )

( After they get the fax. )

    CitiBank: "Our system just isn't

    setup for death..."

    Me: "Oh..."

    CitiBank: "I don't know what

more I can do to help..."

Me: "Well... if you figure it out,

great! If not, you could just keep

    billing her...I suppose...don't

    really think she will care...."

    CitiBank: "Well...the late fees

    and charges do still apply."

    Me: "'Would you like her

    new billing address?"

    CitiBank: "That might help."

Me: " ( Odessa Memorial Cemetery

    #### Hwy 129 and plot number given. )

    CitiBank: "Sir, that's a cemetery!"

Me: "What do you do with dead

    people on your planet?!!"

  2. Did you go to the Star Trek Experience? Did you buy merchandise there? Do you plan to go back and attend a Star Trek Convention?

    http://www.startrekfans.net/music/denial.swf

    :look:  :look:

Yes, I went to the Star Trek experience but when I saw the price of the ticket I did not go inside. Instead I went to the souvineer shop to purchase items to have sent to someone else. At this time, I hadn't even watched one episode of the show so the only reason I went there at all was to report back to a friend what it was like. As for the convention, it's doubtful I'll be going.

And VBG...I am NOT Cleopatra. The only denial going on around here is your refusal to listen to what I'm telling you.

One thing you were right about is the cable modem! I love how fast everything loads and the fact that everything does! It's gonna suck going back to dial-up when I get home. :(

  3. mi
lol....I've been to Wyoming, too. Doesn't make me a cowboy.

Did you go to a building dedicated to all things Cowboy? Did you buy murchandise there that was related to Cowboys?

Besides, I never said you are on a "Star Trek" or that you are a member of the crew. Simply that you are a closet Trekkie.

    Click for Spoiler:

The proof is in the denials. :P

Lets make a comparison, are you an Alabama fan? (I know the answer is yes)

So if there were a catchy term for Alabama fans, like Alabamite you would be one, correct?

Have you ever been to a place that is devoted to all things Alabama, say in Fort Payne, Alabama?

Have you ever been to a place that was devoted to all things Trek, say in Las Vegas, Nv?

Do you see a pattern here? :naughty:

I did, indeed, go to the Cowboy Museum. However, I didn't buy anything "cowboy" while there. Now answer me this, VBG...wouldn't a trekkie go through the ST Experience while in Vegas??? About the Alabama thing, of course I'd be more than happy to declare myself an Alabamite...and I"d be proud of it!! I have been to Ft. Payne 4 times and would go back in a heartbeat.

  4. Okay, Three questions for you.

Do you know who the Guardian of Forever is?

Do you know what a bat'leth is?

Do you know the difference between a Vulcan and a Klingon?

    And answer honestly.

Question One...I have seen the episode that deals with Guardian of Forever. It is a gateway to the past where Kirk and Spock went back in time to save Doc McCoy from the overdose of medication.

Question Two...I honestly have no idea what a bat'leth is. I've never heard of it.

Question Three...Spock is half Vulcan, the Klingons are the enemy...at least in TOS.

    These are the honest answers.

  5. truly sounds like a severe case of denial to me. the first course of actiobn is to admit you have an addiction and ask for help. lol. although theres nothing wrong with a good healthy addiction to trek.

The only help I ask is that you all please admit your sanity is very questionable IMO....

  6. How many episodes of TOS did you tape and watch? How many of the movies did you go out and rent? How often do you visit a Star Trek fans message board?

Knowing the answer to those questions I'd say that's devoted. :naughty:

Besides if you scroll down on the Trekkie definition you will see hat it says:

Anyone that has ever video taped more then 10 episodes of Star Trek for viewing at a later time or belongs to a Star Trek internet message board (STARTREKFANS.NET for example).

You know you are a Trekkie when you tape more then 10 episodes and post messages on (or are a moderator) STARTREKFANS.NET

Okay, in answer to your questions.....I have taped and watched just over half of the TOS series. Now, considering how many episodes of how many seasons of how many series are out there, I'd say I've seen only a small percentage of Star Trek. Regarding the movies, I've seen only the ones with Capt. Kirk and Co and don't have any plans to see the rest in the immediate future. Partly due to time contraints and partly due to lack of interest in the other series. About the message board, I usually visit daily unless I'm out of town but not for the trek news. As my posts confirm, I'm more interested in the off topic discussions. Now I suppose that if you want to go around making up your own definitions of words, I can't stop you.....but that doesn't make the definition true, now does it??? :P

  7. Would you believe we had snow flurries today??? They only lasted about 5 minutes and, of course, melted as they hit the ground but it was still snowing on Oct 1st! That's early, even for here. It usually doesn't know until closer to Halloween.

  8. Hello all, I have read that some of our members are Alabama fans so I thought I'd share this press release from thier website. I also heard there will be a DVD released but I don't know if it will be in conjuction with the CD or not.

RCA RELEASES SONGS FROM ALABAMA'S FAREWELL TOUR ON COMMEMORATIVE CD Nashville, TN -- Long after the curtain has fallen on RCA supergroup Alabama's Farewell Tour, fans can relive the memories of this historic event by merely popping in their Alabama: The American Farewell Tour CD, available from RCA Records October 7th.

Twenty songs from the nostalgia-laden tour are included on the CD, and are sequenced almost exactly like the actual set list for the band's Farewell Tour, although this is not a live album, but previously released material culled from Alabama's two-dozen RCA albums. Although members of the much-awarded group stunned and saddened their legions of fans by announcing in mid-2002 that they would embark on a Farewell Tour of America commemorating their 25th anniversary, they left the door open to recording together again in the future and may even share the stage for special events. However, this will almost certainly be the end of their touring days, during which they played more than 3,000 shows. Long considered the gold standard in country music and the standard bearers for self-contained groups, Alabama is the best-selling country band of all time, amassing an astounding legacy with 42 chart-topping singles, more than 150 industry awards and album sales totaling upwards of 65 million.

The band's association with RCA dates back to 1980, currently the longest consecutive tenure by a major act at one label. During a seven-year stretch, from 1980-87, they released 21 consecutive Number one country hits, many of which are included on the American Farewell Tour CD: "Love In The First Degree," "The Closer You Get," "High Cotton," "Sad Lookin' Moon," "Feels So Right," "Lady Down On Love," "Down Home," "Give Me One More Shot," "Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler)," "Song Of The South," "I'm In A Hurry (And Don't Know Why)," "Old Flame," "Dixieland Delight," "Mountain Music" and their first #1 record, "Tennessee River." For Alabama, the first band to ever win CMA's Entertainer of the Year Award, and the only act to win it three consecutive years, it has always been about the music.

The group's Randy Owen said, "After a successful 25 years, we always felt like we would know when the time was right to step back, and we wanted to do it while we could still get down and do it right." For the Farewell Tour, Alabama was determined to make the event as much a celebration of the music to enjoy with their fans as an historical overview. Each tour stop was designed to be different to provide a unique entertainment experience to fans no matter how many concerts they attended. The numerous sell-outs have given the band their highest career box-office numbers and set several personal and venue records along the way.

According to Patrick McDill at Clear Channel Communications, the national promoter, the Farewell Tour stop at Birmingham's Oak Mountain Amphitheatre was the venue's fastest sell-out and highest grossing show ever, and at Charlotte's Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, it was their highest grossing country show.

More than 22,173 fans crowded the sold-out Post Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh, on a day that was declared "Alabama Day" by the mayor of the river city. Similarly, the Governor of Colorado declared "Alabama Day" for the entire state of Colorado on the date of their Denver concert. The USO and two U.S. Congressmen made separate presentations to honor the band's contributions to the military at Washington's Nissan Pavilion, a show attended by some two dozen wounded soldiers from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, who, in a moving moment, joined the band onstage to sing "America."

For the ACM's first Artist of the Decade, their American Farewell Tour has been one enormous group hug with the band and their fans. Thanks to their long-time record label, the band will not be saying good-bye.

  10. Up here it's been chilly for the last week and a half. In fact, the last two days I woke up to frost on the grass and I had to scrape my windshield before going to work. Tonight it's supposed to get below freezing and a high of mid 40's is predicted for tomorrow. Is it too late to plan a winter get-away??
