  1. I know this is a little late but I still wanted to share it. In the midst of the holiday season, it's a nice reminder to be thankful for what we have.

    ~The Sands of Christmas~

I had no Christmas spirit when I breathed a weary sigh,

and looked across the table where the bills were piled too high.

The laundry wasn't finished and the car I had to fix,

My stocks were down another point, the Dolphins lost by six.

And so with only minutes till my son got home from school

I gave up on the drudgery and grabbed a wooden stool.

The burdens that I carried were about all I could take,

and so I flipped the TV on to catch a little break.

I came upon a desert scene in shades of tan and rust,

No snowflakes hung upon the wind, just clouds of swirling dust.

And where the reindeer should have stood before a laden sleigh,

eight hummers ran a column right behind an M1A.

A group of boys walked past the tank, not one was past his teens,

Their eyes were hard as polished flint, their faces drawn and

    lean.

They walked the street in armor with their rifles shouldered

    tight,

their dearest wish for Christmas, just to have a silent night.

Other soldiers gathered, hunkered down against the wind,

To share a scrap of mail and dreams of going home again.

There wasn't much at all to put their lonely hearts at ease,

They had no Christmas turkey, just a pack of MREs.

They didn't have a garland or a stocking I could see,

They didn't need an ornament-- they lacked a Christmas Tree.

They didn't have a present even though it was tradition,

the only boxes I could see were labled "ammunition."

I felt a little tug and found my son now by my side,

He asked me what it was I feared, and why it was I cried.

I swept him up into my arms and held him oh so near

and kissed him on the forehead as I whispered in his ear.

There's nothing wrong my little son, for safe we sleep tonight,

our heroes stand on foreign land to give us all the right,

to worry on the things in life that mean nothing at all,

instead of wondering if we will be the next to fall.

He looked at me as children do and said its always right,

to thank the ones who help us and perhaps that we should write.

And so we pushed aside the bills and sat to draft a note,

to thank the many far from home, and this is what we wrote,

God bless you all and keep you safe, and speed your way back home.

Remember that we love you so, and that you're not alone.

The gift you give you share with all, a present every day,

You give the gift of liberty and that we can't repay.

  2. I think you're just jealous because the real football is played in Green Bay! :dude:

Yeah, and the Eagles showed Green Bay what Real Football is one Monday night a month or so ago... :dude:

Your birds may have won, but the game was close if I recall correctly. You even admitted to me that you weren't sure which way it would go, which is why you wouldn't bet me!

  3. I would also say that AOL's "Dial up" system really limits it's users.

Believe it or not, I actually agree with VBG. Yes, I said I agree...now go get a calendar and write this down because it's a rare occasion. I think AOL dial up leaves a LOT to be desired and I can't wait to get rid of it.

  4. I did say "A slim possibility but still a possibility." didn't I? lol

I actually hope the Packers win and the Cowboys win, that way the Cowboys will go to Philadelphia and the Packers will go to St. Louis. In the end that will set up a Championship game against the Eagles and Rams in Philadelphia.

Yes, you did say slim. But you know how defensive I can get about my "boys". LOL

By the way, on the news tonight there was a report about a group in Green Bay that is collecting gifts from Packer fans that will be sent to Arizona as a "thank you" for the outstanding win against the Vikings. I thought it was pretty funny.

  5. I agree that the Seahawks wont' go all the way, but I do see a possibility of them winning this weekend. A slim possibility but still a possibility. ibility.

I'd like to say "Them's fightin' words!" since I want the Packers to win, but with my luck as soon as I start making bets, the Pack will choke!

  6. I've given this thought, and I have decided that I'll go with an over all goal of doubling the size of the board by the end of 2004, I'll work towards making more addons and modificaitions. I'll work to complete the episode guide as best as I (we) can and I'll work toward bring more overall content to the board.

Haven't you been doing this all along??? After all, without your efforts, this board would not be what it is today. I thought resolutions were meant to start something new?

  7. But it is a historic moment so we had to commemorate the event.

Not all historic moments need to be remembered.

But if we do not commemorate it how do you expect posterity to know about it?

They don't need to know about it. It could have stayed our little secret but NO!, you had to go show everyone didn't ya??? LOL.....I'm never gonne live this down. I'm gonna quit posting now. B)

  8. LOL, now look at who is conspiring.   B)

    B) You're darn right I am! I need all the help I can get!

Okay, the topic of tonight's chat session will be "Why Luvin should post more." :o

Just what I need, more pressure!

What pressure? Just a logical discussion about why you should be a more active poster as we all enjoy hearing your point of view on the boards.

    I think we've determined why I don't post often.
