I recall him mentioning that he did enroll at starfleet academy. Is it possible that he was demoted to an NCO rank because of some infraction he committed while in starfleet? Perhaps his service record kept him in albeit at an enlisted rank? Its a possibility.
I'll have to look back and see which episode it is but in one episode he mentions that his father wanted him to go and study music but he didn't want to do that. So instead of doing that he went down and enlisted in Starfleet.
I don't recall him ever saying that he had enrolled at the Academy. I haven't had a lot of time to watch my DVD's for a while though so I'm a little rusty on all the details.
If you can find it, let me know. I vaguely remember O'Brien mentioning his academy days to Bashir and Nog. I hope that helps.

dont like the way they killed her. so it was a 2
I never understood why she was killed off. Did Terry Farrell want to leave the show? or was there some other reason for her character dying?
terry farrell cited creative reasons for leaving, she asked to go. Then later she left becker for the same type of reasons.
By the way Z thats actually not true, they were not sure if they were even going to bring dax back for the seventh season, and even when they decided that they were, they were undecided as to whether it would be as a male or as a female.
Thanks for the info. You just answered my questions. :)

A really well done episode. The tension between the characters as they were running out of time was especially well-acted (McCoy - "Would you like to take a crack at it!!!???") . Also, Rand's revelation to Kirk that she always tried to get him to look at her legs.........very erotic for some reason. Of course, I was ALWAYS looking at Rand's legs.......and everything else about her!
I know what you mean :)

O'Brian was odd with his ranks. In a number of TNG he had the rank of Lieutenant with the rank on his uniform. But nobody called him by his rank period. Just the title of his duties. Nobody called him Lieutenant O'Brian or his NCO rank.
In fact, in all of star trek O'Brian was the only and I am talking about the only cast member with an active NCO rank. Always was questioning that, as everyone had a rank of Ensign or above. Look at Voyager, the NCO were just the background players and nothing more.
Maybe they needed a NCO and oh ya O'Brain play this part.
The Doctor had no rank until he had been made a Command hologram in "Workforce", but Kes and Seven also had no rank even though Janeway could've given them each field promotions based on their knowledge.
I think you made a good point, though regarding O'Brien, Maybe he was the lone starfleet noncom and we were fortunate enough to have him play that role. :)

A good ep. Bonus points for cool plot and Sulu doing his D'artagnan impersonation on the bridge. I think this is the ep where the bond between Kirk and Spock really began to form.
I like your thoughts Good Point!
Thank you, Space fever :)

An interesting concept- a creature that feeds off the violent emotions of others. The fisticuffs and sword fighting make this a good ep. Bonus points for introducing Mara, the first female Klingon.

A great ep. Time travel at its most interesting. I always liked this one and it still is one of my personal faves.
-
A great ep. Diana Ewing sporting a very seductive outfit and pursuing our fave Vulcan because of his "exquisitely shaped ears" is a must see.
-
Great! A high concept show- what if Brahms,DaVinci and others turned out to be one guy- now living on a remote planet. It could've done without the subplot regarding android love, but still this one is a winner.

I always thought this one was great. Loved the Platonians,Alexander and Uhura in one of her few shining moments during season 3.
-
Loved it and voted it as great. Neat story and really refreshing to see how down to earth Kirk really is. I also liked Miramanee- she is so hot!
-
Average IMO. The squire turns out to be a kid and once you know the trick ending, there is little sport in repeat viewings.

Great. I thought that the merging of the original pilot with this new storyline was quite effective and economical in terms of saving the studio money.
-
The Enterprise finds an exact duplicate of Earth- one difference though, the adults died and the children are 300 years old due to life prolongation experiments. Kirk still manages to find an admirer in Miri, but in the end all turns out well. I rate it as good, would've been great, but that annoying "Bonk, bonk on the head" kid should be sent to military school pronto!

A good ep. Spock takes charge of a crashed shuttle and must battle giant bigfoot creatures that look more like they are wearing shag rugs. Spock takes a calculated risk- could it be emotional? I don't know because all that matters here is that it works and the survivors are rescued.
-
A bit moldy(it was the first ep to air), but it still has legs. Best bit - Actress Jeanne Bal slamming Spock against a wall. I rate it as good.
-
Clint Howard(Ron's brother) as the baby faced alien Balok in a Lite-Brite ship. I thought it was good especially that Tranya tasting ceremony- "I hope you relish it as much as I".
-
A good ep. Bonus points for cool plot and Sulu doing his D'artagnan impersonation on the bridge. I think this is the ep where the bond between Kirk and Spock really began to form.

It was good. Very gloomy especially that bit where Spock goes blind, but redeemable when Kirk and Co. succeed with saving Deneva and Spock's admission of having an inner eyelid that saved his vision. :)
-
A great ep that features a mind blowing mind meld between Spock and Mother Horta. It was a neat parable for racial tolerance and one of the 10 best in all of TOS.
-
A parallel universe double named Lazarus fights his evil twin- he traps himself in a gateway of sorts to avoid the annihilation of both universes- a high concept ep that is often overlooked and forgotten, but one that i consider to be very good.

Shakespeare in a space suit- and its not a bad fit! A great ode to Hamlet and a great ep!
