  1. I'm undecided but perhaps more so conflicted. Next year will be Trek's 40th anniversary and we just ended a 18 year long run of trek on the tube not to mention the movie series. As much as I love Trek I do believe that at this point it's very difficult to make anything fresh after so many eps and movies. It seems more than ever that the ptb of Trek are more interested in the bottom line than actually telling a good story and that has had a noticeable effct on the franchise. Mainly their tendency to keep cranking one show out after the other to keep milking the Trek cow. We have around 700 episodes and 10 films to call our own and if all Paramount can do is milk Trek maybe it's time for Trek to ride off into the sunset.

  2. I gave it a 9 and here is why.

    1. I thought Trip's death was a meaningless waste of a good character. If you look at the situation you would think it was a lame excuse to kill him off. Thanks B&B.

    2. I wanted to see Archer sign the charter and read his speech. I felt short changed when Riker ended the program.

    3. I think certain elements in Enterprise should be canon but others certainly should not be. They had warp 7 vessels for 100 years?

    4. What was the deal with the Vulcan/human baby being in the story at all?

    5. Did anyone notice that there was no mention of the Romulan Wars?

    Good parts

    1. I liked seeing Riker and Troi again. Plus hearing Data was a treat.

    2. Seeing a CGI Enterprise D was great and the final moments in which we also saw Kirk's Enterprise was sad but moving. I also got the feeling by that ending that this was actually the end of the road for Trek. I know that's probably not true but that's how I felt.

I really don't want B&B in charge of any further Trek projects. The concept for ENT was good but the execution in a lot of areas left much to be desired imo. The show really got good when the let someone else do the writing.

  3. I gave this episode a 8 and here's why.

Why did they see fit to wear 23rd century uniforms in their own time? Plus I know others have offered explanations but all of the speculation in the world does not explain why a 23rd century era ship that was brought back 100 years into the past did not advance tech at all in the century between this era and the TOS episode Mirror,Mirror. Maybe since Hoshi's power base was built on that ship's technology she did not permit anyone to analyse it? That of course is just my speculation. Maybe it took the Empire a century to replicate that technology?

  4. I thought that apart from "Luke Screaming" (which was removed in the DVD release) and "Greedo Shoots First" the Special Editions were quite enough.

When he released the Original Trilogy on DVD, I was saddened to see he had tinkered with them AGAIN.

I don't mind him adding a starship here and there, but things like adding new dialogue to the "Emperor's Hologram" scene in ESB (though I did like the addition of Ian McDiarmid) and replacing Sebastian Shaw with Hayden Christensen when Vader joined the Light Side Of The Force were poor decisions IMO.

I agree. As for my favorite movie The Empire Strikes back takes the cake. It has drama, conflict, angst and a little romance thrown into it. It didn't seem as much as a fairy tale as the other movies.

  5. Oh goody, a thread where I can actually say what I think.

I agree with much of what The King said, only I don't think VOY was better after it became the Seven of Nine Show - but I do think Seven was a more interesting character than T'Pol.  And Ryan was definitely a better actor than Blalock.

Yes, T'Pol existed for the sole purpose of being a sextoy in a catsuit.  I think the biggest problem with that was trying to make a Vulcan a sextoy -  a Denobulan female in a catsuit would seem believable - a Vulcan does not.  As it is they had to destroy much of what we had held near and dear regarding Vulcans and that really turned off a lot of people.

The real opinions that matter are those 9 million viewers that dropped off from the premiere to this season.  What was it that turned them off.  I know at least one I know mentioned T'Pol as a reason they couldn't stand the show.  I don't know if it was the fault of the writers', director or Blalock's bad acting but T'Pol was not unemotional as a Vulcan should be - she was a b----,  not the same thing.

Sad to say - T'Pol is the primary reason that I ceased caring if they cancel the show.  If Scifi does pick it up - I hope they have some character changes.

I totally agree. I think 7 of 9s back story was a lot more interesting than T'pols imo. Plus for some reason I dont know if it was the way the character was written or Blalock herself but she seemed to project a aura of arrogance.

  6. I thing Enterprise is watchable but it's certianly not the best Trek series imo. I hate that it's being cancelled but I think that some of the blame rests on the writers and UPN. I think DS9 was the best trek show. As for contradicitons all of the shows had some but I think I ENT either had more or in some ways it didn't flow well into TOS storyline. This is due to bad storywriting or arrogance perhaps both.

  7. I think that the new BSG is been pretty good so far. It's at least watchable. The main difference in comparison to the original is that the old school BSG was more of a space opera and the new one is more of a drama. It is a bit slow but the plots have been interesting so far. My main gripe is that I dont like the fact that we seemed to have religiously faithful genocidal Cylons in the new BSG. I'm tired of Baltar's and #6s mind trips too. I miss the laser guns also. It's too bad Berman could not hang on to Ron Moore. ENT might have started getting better earlier on if he did.

  8. I'm split between 2 of the options. I think that the franchise is not over but it does need a rest, more than a few years too. There had been a Star Trek series on TV since 1987 and a movie in the theaters since 1979. It's time for a rest. I do think that Berman and Braga should be fired. Well at least Berman, the reason being that I see a total arrogance in his handling of the franchise a bit of a disconnect on what Star Trek is. We all know it's now a franchise to make money but to his predessor it was a bit more. At first it seemed like he rejected TOS concepts because he himself was not a part of that series. This of course is debatable. He did a good job with DS9 because he had better writers who cared about the product a bit more. At the same time ENT was not a totally bad show( I liked a little more than Voyager) and I really think it was starting to turn around before it was axed. All they needed to do was to keep Cotto as writer and get rid of T'Pol who I think was like a cancer for the show.

  9. I picked the Jem' Hadar mainly because of their sheer numbers. I thougt the Hirogen species didn't reproduce with great frequency. I also think that the Jem 'Hadar are better tactical/strategic thinkers than the Hirogen.

  10. I seldom give a episode a 10 but I have to on this occasion

I liked almost everything about this episode and it makes me sad that just as the show was starting to pick up a bit it's being cancelled. The only part I did not like was that Tripp's transfer request because of his feelings for T'Pol. Tripp's a smart man and I think he should know that he can do a lot better by now.. T'Pol's ex-fiancee seems to have known what to do....
