  1. Now, I'm sure this is coincidental and completely unrelated, but I wish to report the theft of an old-style curly-q bike horn. I was rehearsing to play a Harpo Marx like role, and I reached inside my coat for it, and it was suddenly missing. As I said, I'm sure it's completely unrelated, but you never know. Reports of Suliban hanging around the theater have been coming in, but are being dismissed for the time being.

  2. DS9--"In The Pale Moonlight" because it shows Star Trek at its absolute darkest and is still an incredibly brilliant episode; plus, it includes the Dominion War, which occupied a huge chunk of DS9's time- and storyline.

As I was re-reading this thread last night I was going to post that I'd show ITPML rather than Emissary for the DS9 episode. It really is an awesome episode and generally thought of as the best of DS9 and by many it's thought of as the best of all Trek (me included).

Well, I'm too hard-core for TNG to agree with that last statement. I'm not sure I'd even call it the best of DS9, but it sure puts up a helluva fight for that title, I'll grant it that.

I feel I should disclose, too, that I almost put City On The Edge Of Forever for my TOS ep, but then I realized that if I did, I'd have no fun/comedy episodes in my list, and Star Trek could be QUITE funny on occasion. I think "I, Mudd" is funnier than "The Trouble With Tribbles." And like I said, it has the classic TOS trait of the need to outsmart a computer. I gotta admit, all around, I'm pretty proud of my picks. I think I've offered a decent diaspora of what Star Trek means.

Also, if I were to add a TAS episode, it'd be "Yesteryear" because it wasn't an hour long story crammed into 30-minutes, was quite well written, and I think it was our first look at Andorians, too!

For a movie, it'd be "First Contact" due to it's great direction, special effects, camerawork, writing, acting, fantastic all around.

  3. TOS--"I, Mudd" because it's a hilarious episode, shows all the Enterprise crew in action, and includes the outsmarting of a computer, which came across a handful of times in TOS's three seasons.

TNG--"All Good Things..." because it's the best Trek episode EVER, imo, but if two-hour eps aren't allowed, then "Q Who" because it introduces us to the Borg, includes Q, and shows best how some can believe that Picard was the best Trek Captain.

DS9--"In The Pale Moonlight" because it shows Star Trek at its absolute darkest and is still an incredibly brilliant episode; plus, it includes the Dominion War, which occupied a huge chunk of DS9's time- and storyline.

VOY--"Shattered" because it includes temporal incursions, the tensions in assimilating the Maquis crew, the deal with the Borg, Seska's collaborations with the Kazons, the hilarity of Holodeck hijinks, and I believe does still include the idea of the long voyage home--in short, aside from the Hirogen, Seven becoming more human, and Kes, this episode depicts all of VOY in a one-episode nutshell.

ENT--"Vox Sola", even though I rated it a 4 instead of a 5, because not only does it depict the problems involved with meeting new species for the first time, but it also includes all 7 main characters actually having to do something relevant, a criterion which is satisfied in almost no other episode of ENT.

  4. Wasn't Duras chancellor when Worf killed him back in TNG?

No, he and Gowron were trying to become Chancellor. Worf killing Duras made Gowron the sole claimant to the title. So what Worf did was effectively name 2 chancellors by killing both Duras and Gowron.

    Aaaaahhh... I stand corrected.

Ok, so Worf helps NAME his second chancellor, a Mexican standoff between....

  5. And with this post, two things happen. One, every episode in the Episode Guide forums has had a reply/rating & review (sort of, since GOMH meant to review this episode when he posted in the "Emperor's New Cloak" thread); two, the first time that one person has reviewed every episode of every series and every movie of Star Trek. Hurrah!

I give this episode a 4. Kind of a hiccup in the arc as this mostly focuses on the Ferengi. A little silly to make Rom the new Nagus. He's got engineering smarts, but I'd be hard-pressed to call him street smart enough to be a leader, but maybe that's why he'd make a great one. The B-story about Julian and Ezri finally coming to terms with their feelings. Decent enough. I like when they appear at Ops going at each other and Miles walks by as they come up... then camera follows him as he stops, turns around, and makes that face... priceless. Then Worf sends the turbo lift back down and says, "They seemed to have worked it out." Hilarious.

The only real reminder of what's going on is the shrunken perimeter with the decision to attack. Crafty stuff. I liked this episode.

  6. 5. Great work from everyone. Good to see Keiko and kids again. Didn't really wrap up Garak, or the Bashir/Ezri relationship, but other than that, really no loose ends worth complaining about. Great final shot, though I think Kira shouldn't have been in it. Kasidy should have been standing next to Jake instead, or Jake standing alone. IMO, not as good as "All Good Things..." but fantastic stuff nonetheless.

  7. 3. A bit predictable, but it did have one really great twist. Additionally, the dynamic between Miles and Julian grows another whole dynamic level. I have to admit though... I always found their friendship a little contrived. Dunno why. Just did.

  8. I gave it a 3. Kira goes behind the lines with Garak and Odo, who's suffering badly from his people's disease, but had hidden it. Dukat goes to the streets to beg. Nothing that I really loved about this, but nothing I really hated either.

  9. 4. Damar does an about face and wants to get rid of the Dominion. Which helps because the Breen have a new weapon that cripples starships. Solid stuff. Just not keen on the whole huge arc scenario. Though, it did make sense to have Solbor's blood reveal the writing in the Kosst Ammojan.

  10. 3. Really another bridge-the-gaps episode. One major point is when Kai Winn apostates and embraces the Pah-Wraiths. Good build-ups all around. What will the Breen be doing now? Tune in to find out. lol.

  11. An introductory episode to the final arc, which would last until the end of the series. It started a lot, but really didn't accomplish or finish anything, so I only give it a 3.

  12. Star Trek's "Ocean's 11." You could see it in the shots they did... marching through Quark's, the panning/following of the camera as Frankie is escorted out, the quick thinking on the feet. Too bad Miles was missing from the aforementioned panning/following, but he had a funny line when he reappeared. Fantastic stuff. 5.

  13. 5. Great to see the return of the Joran personality. The happenstance meeting of the culprit was a little off, but sometimes that's how it goes. Kept the timing of the episode tight.

  14. Wrong ep, GOMH. That's "The Dogs Of War." This is where Zek goes to the Mirror Universe hoping to turn some nifty prophet there, but gets held captive there. Seeing evil Ezri and Vic was interesting. And other than Jadzia and Jennifer, all the women in the Mirror Universe play for the other team (Kira plays for both, of course). Really an episode that was cute, but didn't add much. 3.

  15. While I wasn't a fan of the storyline, I went with it, because by the time I got around to the Xindi, I pretty much had come to realize that the creaotrs of Enterprise were bound and determined to make each season a mini-series, and all mini-series seasons tied together in a way that I absolutely hated.

That said, I feel I related most to the Aquatics.
