  1. I agree with Bysty. I really don't think the NHL will fold but they have some problems which need to be worked out.

    First, they have to get rid of Gary Bettman, first class idiot. He is trying so desperately trying to make hockey American and it ain't going to happen. Personally, I'd love to see Wayne Gretzky or even Mario Lemieux as commissioner but I don't think it will happen.

    As for teams folding, the NHL could stand to lose some teams. The talent is too thinly spread. Of course, its not teams like Edmonton that should go, it should be American teams in cities where fans just don't care.

    Major League Baseball has greater problems but also has a larger fan base than the NHL. However, even if the NHL does go, hockey will never die. At least in the heart of this Canadian.

  2. That's great :dude: :) :) :)

    I made some pics like that but I don't know how to post them. I made the bridge, engineering, sickbay, armoury, tranporter room and shuttlebay of the U.S.S. Springfield.

    Here's a run down:

    Bridge:

    Captain = Skinner

    First officer= Flanders

    CMO= Hibbert

    Conn= Apu

    Ops= Homer

    Comm=Krabappel

    Science= Frink

    Chief Engineer=Willie

    Tactical=Wiggum

    Engineering: Grampa, Moe, Sideshow Bob, and Barney

    Armoury: Lou, Rainer Wolfcastle, and Sideshow Mel

    Transporter room: Lenny and Carl

    Shuttlebay: Bart, Otto, and Krusty

    Sickbay: Smithers, Marge and Lisa (with Burns as a Borg in a tube)

    Can someone please tell me how to post images I made on my own computer in Paint?

  3. The only thing I didn't like about this episode is that there seemed to be a lot of clips. I mean the battle scene was mostly clips from Sacrifice of Angels and Tears of the Prophets. Then you have all the Bashir-O'Brien clips and Worf clips etc. Don't get me wrong I think it was a good finale but they used a lot of clips. Other than that it was cool, Winn dies, Dukat is the anti-emissary (very cool), Sisko completes his destiny and the Dominion War ends. I don't think there could be any other way to end DS9.

  4. The Jays have already made some good moves in the off season. They've signed Pat Hentgen and traded Bobby Kielty (the guy they got for Stewart) for Ted Lilly. Which does alot to bolster their pitching, their weakest area. I'm not saying they'll be a huge competitor this year but down the road this team will likely compete as the young players get better. Of course, the Jays would be a lot closer to the playoffs if they weren't in a division with the Red Sox and the Yankees.

  5. This is some really cool stuff about Enterprise:

    -Admiral Forest is named after DeForest Kelley. Similarly, Commander Williams and Admiral Leonard from the pilot "Broken Bow: Part One" are named after series stars William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy.

    -Archer's first name was originally Jackson, but there was exactly one person in the country named Jackson Archer. To avoid libel lawsuits, Jonathan was chosen for a name because there were 20 Jonathan Archers.

    -Scott Bakula jokingly suggested prior to the filming of the two-hour premiere that Captain Jonathan Archer's middle name might be Beckett, a reference to his previous television series, Quantum Leap.

    -The bridge set has 80 plasma screens built into it

    -Dominic Keating was denied a callback for a guest shot on "Star Trek: Voyager" because Rick Berman wanted him for this.

    -Connor Trinneer discovered a lot of his friends were closet Trekkies when he got his role.

    -In Capt. Archer's cabin, there is a photo on the wall of a Pan American World Airways Boeing Clipper. Gene Roddenberry was, at one time a pilot for Pan Am.

    -The Inspection Pod in "Broken Bow" is actually a minor redesign of the cockpit section of Zefram Cochrane's Phoenix from "First Contact".

    -During its first run it was the most special effects-laden television show on the networks, with a reported 2,700 effects shots in the first season alone. Roughly 300 in the two hour pilot and an average of 100 per episode.

    -The average budget for each episode of Enterprise in its first season was $3,500,000. Due to both the successes of the show and more creative technicalities required for further seasons, the budget was increased to $5,000,000 starting with the first episode of season two "Shockwave Part II".

    -After the space shuttle Columbia disaster on 1 February 2003, last-minute editing on the episode "Canamar" was done to remove a shot of a spaceship exploding as it reenters a planet's atmosphere ( I remember discussing this with someone on the StarTrek.com boards)

    -In the show's opening credits, there is a "mystery ship" that appears right before Captain Archer's Enterprise (and after the shot of Zefram Cochrane's "Phoenix"). The mystery ship has a more primitive layout than the Enterprise, and huge blue impulse engines. This ship has never been named, and no explanation has been given as to what its function is, although some fans speculate that it may be the S.S. Valiant mentioned in the original series episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before".

    -The advanced shuttle shown in Earth orbit in the opening credits bears the registry number "DV-169".

    -The total cost of Enterprise for two full seasons is approximately $229,500,000 - one of the top 5 most expensive shows on current US television.

    I don't know if anyone else finds this interesting but I think that a lot of this is cool. Note that this is directly copied from the IMDB which accounts for the explanation.

  6. I love this movie. I laugh at that rant every time I hear it.

    I did actually have Clark's rant about his boss as my signature for about ten minutes then I read this topic so I changed it. I'm keeping Cousin Eddie as my avatar though.

    Does anyone mind if I use the rant as my signature as long as I censor the swearing or would you prefer I didn't all together?

  7. I was thinking about Captain Benjamin Maxwell from the Wounded today and I had an idea. Could he have had any possible connection to the Maquis? I assume he was put in prison after he was relieved of command but maybe he broke out and joined the Maquis due to his hatred of the Cardassians. Perhaps, he even helped to found the Maquis, if he broke out in time.

    Or maybe he was released and returned to command during the Dominion War. The Federation probably needed officers who could fight the Cardassians.

    Does anyone have any other theories about Ben Maxwell. Sure he didn't play a large role but I think it is interesting to wonder what happened to him as the Cardassians were his personal enemy and they later became an enemy for all the Federation.

  8. I voted for the Doctor. I felt he was an interesting character. One of my favourite episodes with him is "Latent Image". I thought that Picardo put in a great performance and that added alot of depth to the Doctor.

    Of course, I could have easily voted for Tuvok. He was a great security officer.

  9. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation :blink:. Man that movie is so funny. Its on all the time around this time of year and I usually watch it on DVD. My family also has a 'tradition' of sorts regarding Home Alone. After church on Christmas Eve we watch Home Alone or Home Alone 2. Those are great movies, too bad they had to ruin the franchise with those sequels :lol: .

  10. Plus those All-Bran commercials. I mean come on. They were so lame!

    "Don't call me Mr. Shatner, Don't call me late for dinner. Call me Bill."

    The greatest Starfleet officer ever reduced to selling cereal. The man who used to stare down the Klingons and Romulans is now talking about the Two-Week All-Bran challenge.

    (Ok, so I'm goofing around. But they were goofy commercials.)

  11. Shatner does commercials for All-Bran and he's in some sort of tooth whitening commercial (all he does is riverdance :biggrin: ) (I don't get it).

    I think I've heard of Patrick Stewart doing stuff for Amnesty International.

    Didn't Avery Brooks do something for e-solutions a few years back? Something about lutabytes and how many libraries of congress can your computer download per second. Does this sound familar?

    (On a side note, I've noticed that actors on 24 have begun to do commercials. Keifer Sutherland does Ford and just last night I saw Dennis Haysbert do a commercial for All-State insurance).

  12. Takara, I'd like to make a couple if trades.

    As much as I like Mogilny with him injured it buts a drag on my team

    So I'll trade Mogilny for Todd Bertuzzi.

    I'll also trade Martin St. Louis for Alex Tanguay.

    Hopefully, those trades will put me into first place.

  13. I'm wondering who everyone thinks wore or currently wears the ugliest sweaters in all of sports. As a hockey fan I'd like to share some of the hockey sweaters I believe are the ugliest.

    #3: Boston Bruins current third sweaters:

    boston-bruins.gif

    not terribly ugly, but not terribly pretty. But there of an eyesore in games.

    #2: Phoenix Coyotes (from their move to Phoenix to last year)

    jr-ccmanhl0-pho.gif

    Aztec pattern, ugly colours, just plain hideous.

    and their third sweaters a few years ago:

    p265423reg.jpg

    not much better

    #1: Ugliest hockey sweater of all-time (In my opinion)

    The Vancouver Canucks V-Stripe Sweater

    108_0865_img.jpg

    These are ugly. I don't know who this guy is but this sweater is terrible. However, now Vancouver has some of the nicest stuff in the league.

    Of course, how can one forget those futuristic baseball sweaters from a few years back. What was up with those?

    Anyway, does anyone have some sweaters in other sports that are ugly in their opinion?
