  1. I couldnt believe that someone could let themselves be assimilated and come out so unscathed. Even if they had done something to retain their consciousness, seeing yourself be injected and cut up and stuff...urgh! Very traumatic. And frightening. As i've stated it was all Borg for the end of Voyager. Without this staple of The Next Generation Voyager would have had to rely on some other plot which may have been more original. Bringing back a Caretaker would have been better for me. The whole idea of coming full circle would have been good. There was just no resolution to that whole Caretaker thing for me which wasnt very satisfying. i would have liked it if a search for a Caretaker would have been a subsidiary aim of Voyager's return journey. Also, the domesticity of Tom and B'llana annoyed me. An unlikely match in seven and Chakotay and that Irish Village (i'm from Ireland! That was dire) were all too much. No, I think it ended at a good time. Mid seasons were best for me. The end was just getting too much. Oh no, not Barclay AGAIN!!!!

  2. Generations was an ok movie. We saw the Enterprise B. Had a revamped Enterprise. Saw a saucer separation and a crash landing. And well... that was bout it. Apart from that, to me, it was no more than a really good 'episode'. Data was a jerk 9not his fault, but still interesting) but much else seemed the same old on the show. When First Contact came along, this was big screen action for me. It was brilliant! New ship, uniforms, action, intigue, excellent nemesis, etc etc. Generations? Overall not bad. But not exactly a big screen block buster! K

  3. I always enjoy series better as they get older and so Seven came along at the right time for me. I always thought that the later episodes of The Next Generation and DS9 and on programmes like Red Dwarf, were much better and tend to groan when having to watch the more inexperienced earl;ier ones. Kes is a main player in early episodes and so is unfortunate in that respect but she was s nice character. I say "nice" because there was little nastiness in her and everyone loves a villan really.....

  4. In the episode Redemption, Data proved himself to be an able captain. He served his ship and crew well throughout the series. Some have said that he was too easy to manipulate; but this is nonsense when you consider how often Troi and Riker and the rest of the organic crewmembers ave been taken over by parasites and mind control! Often he was the only one IN control. Now I know that there were rumours that Data would have been promoted in the last film had he not died, but lets forget this for a moment because it DIDN'T happen. Geordi got two promotions. Picard and Riker had offers. Troi went up in the command hierarchy (how!?!) :look: and Worf got promoted too. Beverly was a doctor and so can be left out of this one. But Data. Nothing! Why? Discrimination, I feel is the only answer. If the rest could get promoted then so could he. On his merits!

  5. This episode of Enterprise aired for the first time last night, in the UK. To tie in with my thread on over-reliance on 'trek' I saw that Rura Penthe and the Klingon court were re-used. Rura Penthe looked a lot cleaner in the Enterprise era, and a lot easier to escape from. It took Kirk and Spock ages to get off that planet yet Archer just walks out! Interesting, though, was the revelation about the order of Klingon society. I always thought that there would have been no way a race hell bent on fighting alone would manage to build and learn and so forth. Overall, I found the story interesting but ending too abruptly and badly!

  6. KLINGON OUTFITS!!! Now that's the way to dress. Leather and long flowing robes, thick furs, studs. Great! Never dates. I tend to buy fewer expensive clothes rather than loads of cheap clothes. That way i'm always well dressed. :look:

  7. If memory serves me correctly, didn't they land on a planet with an Earth-like population?  I think it was at the beginning of season 2 in "The 37s."  Janeway gave the crew the option to stay, but no one did of course.  Wow...that was only in season 2!  I believe that inhabiting an earth-like planet would have been their best option.  Like what was said before, their luck was going to run out sometime, be it with them or their children.

The 37s was originally shown as part of season 2 but was supposed to be the last episode of season 1. It actually makes more sense as last episode of season 1 as we end with Janeway getting all emotional and sayin something like "take us home..."

  8. I liked the episode but, always the fussy little bunny, i had a few problems with it in terms of reality. I mean, withinin a few days outside thousands of years passed on the planet. Well how many years old would the planet itself  actually have been? Had Voyager arrived there a week earlier would they have seen dinosaurs on the planet? And isnt it funny that Voyager arrived in the few days that humanoids went through their most significant evolution? Do you know what I mean? K

  9. :D Very interesting! I took Prometheus from my favourite ship in Star Trek. Im very much into design and the visual aspects of Star Trek and for me that was a great episode because I got to see a new ship. The bridge was beautiful. Also, prometheus is a very grrr manly name dont you think? :D Just like me.... hee hee hee. :D

  10. Laws are introduced to control the population of a society and to make them adhere to a set of principles to curb criminal and potential damaging behaviour. Without laws there would most certainly be anarchy and society would crumble. None of us would enjoy the happy state of living which we exist in. Now I know that that sounds all a bit obvious, but hold on. The laws on polygamy are there to prevent a person from having multiple marriages and having lots of children. Even though people do have sex with each other and have children anyway. You cannot prevent people from having sex as this would be a breach of their human rights. If children result (which is not always the case) then they result. To allow polygamy. however, would bring down a barrier that is there for a lot of people - ie a lot of people will not have sex without marriage. To allow multiple marriages would certainly ENCOURAGE people to marry lots of people and have more children, therefore ADDIDNG to the overall numbers of children being born. Often such marriages will stretch finances along the way causing problems. The law is a general one that works out best overall as it acts as a lack of incentive to have lots of families and so forth. In other words it makes for good public policy. As is often the case, the law may seem absurd in specific examples but overall is usually effective.

  11. My question is why did janeway get promoted before Picard?  I have asked this before in st.com but think about it......

Picard (and crew) has distroyed every ship in his comand!! yet starfleet still gives him more ships !!! I would have put him behind a  desk after the first 2 ships haha and Janeway who has one ship for what 7 or so years, has had the borg assimilate it and other misss haps done to it comes home and ta da was promoted!!! I think I would have had her still out in the field sorta speak.

what does any one else think ???? ;)  ;)

I think, yes, that Picard had turned down promotion in the past. Also he seems to know a lot of Admirals as friends which would suggest they have all moved up to that level at the same time so he could have, possibly, been up there too. Star Fleet may feel that he serves a better purpose out in space whereas Janeway may be better at Star Fleet Command as she has extensive knowledge of the Delta Quadrant and would be quite valuable. If they could send ships to the Delta Quadrant though, would she become a captain again and go out there? That would be the next question!

  12. Had Voyager NOT had 10 years knocked off its journey every now and then, and in the end they had to make it home the old fasioned way...would they have made it? 70 years travelling through space? Would the crew have all died and faded away or would they have successfully created a generational ship as it were? Would it have been fair to raise all these children on Voyager? Voyager - the next Generation? A crew of gripey young people who have never had a proper home flying through space to mythical earth, that the oldies go on about! Endless battles etc. Ancient Ensign Harry Kim (ha! Ensign!) I think that without the help of Kes and catapults and Admiral Janeway they would never have actually made it in the end. They would have just got tired and given up....
