  1. I'm currenty reading Avatar book 2. Recently finished book 1. It's put me in a DS9 mood and I like the feeling... wish Spike was still playing episodes. I'm not liking the characterization of the Andorian Shar so far... it sort of clashes with what I know about Andorians from Enterprise. But I think these books came out before Enterprise and before too much was done with Andorians, so I guess the author had to make up a bunch of her own stuff. But it bothers me.

I picked up a couple of Star Trek books at Half-Price Books today, and if I get can get back into reading a bit each day, maybe it'll become a monthly occurance and I can slowly clear them out of their Star Trek section. Gotta' love used book stores because not only do can you get a good price, but you gotta' love the character of a used book. I don't know... something about the way they're banged up and the way they smell. Just makes me smile.

  2. I've reached a decision point here. I would like to start building my library of movies. But do I get DVDs or Blu Rays? Do I wait and see if other Star Trek series are going to be released on Blu Ray? Is Blu Ray going to become ubiquitous in the future and will DVD become obsolete? I don't want to buy a bunch of movies that will be in an obsolete format in a few years. The thing is, I don't have a Blu Ray player.

I honestly don't care that much about the video quality as long as it's good. I can't tell the difference. I can differentiate between good and bad and that's about it. I figure the DVD quality is good enough for me. What I care about is having a collection that is not considered antique in ten years.

Gummy... baseball games? Do you go to Yankees games? I love baseball.

  3. Why is it people only worry about global warming in the summer?

That's when it is most visible. I mean the Earth is heating up, can't you feel it? For what it's worth, I had hoped the multitude of exclamation marks would convey sarcasm. I saw snow twice last year, once in College Station, Texas and once here in Houston. I got out my old snow clothes and ran around. And Dallas had some pretty bad icy/snowy weather.

  4. Help me out here, because I haven't watched Deep Space Nine in a while. But wasn't there an episode where Sisko asked the prophets to close the wormhole to a fleet of Dominion ships that were about to come through? And then the prophets told him that he'd have to repay them somehow? Could having to live with them be the payment? I, too, wish Sisko could have just gone to live in his house on Bajor. But it would have seemed like an empty promise if the series ended and he hadn't repaid his debt.

  5. Here in Houston it's hot, hot, hot and we haven't had rain in quite a while. But that's pretty normal I think. I've only been living here for a year, but I've been living in Texas for seven.

Now when I lived in Kuwait, that was like sticking your head in an oven. I'll never forget the day we were scheduled to run the mile for our physical fitness whatever test. It was at least 120 outside. I walked all the laps in protest. I really didn't like that PE teacher in the first place, and this had just added to everything else.
