  1. I've only been out in the real world for a year and in that time, I took off 1.5 days to drive up to Kansas. Yes, Kansas. It was to see the Aggies play a baseball series against Kansas State. I guess that's my vacation for this year. I want to see the Ags play a game in every Big 12 stadium, so I think I might try to travel to a new one every year. I have four down, so six to go. Add in the Big 12 tournament which I also would like to go to some day, and that makes seven years of small vacations in the future! Most games are played on the weekends, so that's really not much time off of work.

Oh... I had about a week off last year because of Hurricane Ike. Our building was without power. I spent the whole week in San Antonio bored to tears, so I don't consider it a real vacation, but it was definitely a vacation from work!

But before I entered the working world, we used to take family vacations at least once a year. A lot of the time, they were tied in with trips across country because with my dad in the Army, we moved a lot. So I got to see a lot of the country growing up. And when we lived in Kuwait, we got to get away to some pretty cool places.

  2. I was there in 2000, I think. My dad was in the Army, too, and we went on a ski trip with another family. We spent a week there and all we did all day was ski. It was pretty awesome.

    Perhaps you recognize this place...

Not that I can remember... I did have a birthday at a place there, but I think the name had "Frau" in it. Is that you guys in the picture?

All other 'vacations' that I've taken from work have been stay at home and sleep vacations.

Sounds like fun to me! Which brings up the point... what would you consider a real vacation? How long do you have to spend and what do you have to do for it to be a vacation? Is visiting your family over the weekend a vacation? I did that just two weeks ago. But the last time I went on a vacation, I think, was a few years ago when I visited New York City. However, in April I drove up to Kansas to watch couple of Aggie baseball games. I don't consider it a vacation, would you?

  3. Oh, cool. But you're not going to take them up on the offer? Five hours isn't that far; I'll bet you could get to one or two games a season. And sell the rest on E-bay or Stub Hub or something. Although a single ticket might not sell as well as a pair of tickets would. But if you get a discount for buying season tickets and then sell the tickets at face value, you might even be able to make a little profit. Or is that illegal? Just add some processing fees or something. :) Do the season tickets include potential playoff games?

I had a strange dream a few weeks ago. I was playing for the Eagles against the Aggies (my college team). I was a receiver and I had a pass thrown to me. I bobbled it for a little and considered dropping it because I didn't want to beat the Ags and in this situation, nobody would know that I had done it on purpose. But in the end I hung on to the ball and got brought down. On the next play, I caught another pass, but this time I was in the end zone. And I felt so bad for having scored on the Aggies!

I woke up thinking: "Why the Eagles?" Seriously. I blame you.
