All nice and good, but we have a predecessor to the impulse engine operating right now. It's called the V.A.S.I.M.R. Engine and it's definately better then any "next-gen" ion engines they're working on. But knowing NASA they most likely lack the guts to go with it .

I tried posting a query in VBG's portion of Hailing Frequencies Open, but nada would appear (tried posting a second time thinking it would work, but still nothing).

I do believe there is life on other planets but I'm not sure I'd call them "aliens" - if they were indeed created by God as Scaleman suggests then they would be like us - not alien.

Umm, TUH, i was refering to it as a way to counter the "it destroys what meaning there is in religion" "problem". But really, if God made us then (directly or not) he made the aliens right?

 

A side not, i don't think the aliens necessarily HAVE to look like us, i think God would be able to make aliens in more then 1 form, as he doesn't need to take a singular form himself and would be able to work out more then 1 type of life form design.

I have to say the suliban, they're quite pathetic, both as aliens and ESPECIALLY as villians. Terrible character (cept for that gal that helped Archer, BUT they just HAD to kill her off!! ), lousy ships (i think one is a knock off of a talarian design) and basically, they COMPLETELY avoided anything related to them in season 3. In season 3 they even had DANIELS!!! The lack of any suliban during the 3rd season all but says "they're no longer worth anything" as a useful character goes.

 

But leave the mits of the andorians, there's still MUCH more we can have on them (reed+that-andorian-gal-he-showed-starry-eyes-for, as an example). Besides, i still can't get past that scene where Archer appears to have antenna on his head .

Actually, i wouldn't mind learning elvish, it sounds rather soft compared to english, but i don't think my head could absorb it .

I didn't feel this had much to do with Enterprise so i decided not to place this thread in there, now then.

 

I was watching an episode of Sliders (4.2| PROPHETS & LOSS) a while back and noticed Connor Trinneer playing the local leader of the opposing group in the episode. This is the basic story:

 

Love, peace, and harmony prevail on this world ruled by a man called the Master Oracle. But the Sliders inadvertently run afoul of the law by possessing an "illegal scientific device" -- their timer -- which is confiscated by the Oracle's Enforcers. When the Enforcers conclude that the Sliders are members of the militant underground called "Radical Rationalists," Quinn, Maggie, and Rembrandt are earmarked for "chemical re-configuration" -- personality erasure and brainwashing which will forcibly convert them to the Way of the Oracle.

I thought they were kinda neat, some make me chuckle and some i just :biggrin: at, but they're all nice to see.

I heard the story myself, and am perplexed by it to be honest. I mean, some elements make sense but then again, i highly doubt our computers would be bad enough to have a catastrophic meltdown in 2000 (unless the timeline had REALLY bad computers).

 

But i still see the possibility of a second civil war, computer failer or not, and as far as a WW3 in the coming years as a result of the civil war? I doubt it, we're important to the world sure, but when we had a collapse of the stock market it didn't create WW2, so i think it's quite possible we can rule that out (not WW3 but the so-called "cause" of it).

 

And then they did go on about the fact he was from a different timeline to begin with, and he also stated we could (although he considered it HIGHLY unlikely) be able to stop these major problems. But only time will tell right?

The title is "Star Trek: The Return" odie. I think they might be in hybernation myself, they're more like an annoying flu by now to the federation. They can be stoped but every once in a while they get in .

This is exactly the reason i'm pissed at the networks most of the time, because they show sports and it ALWAYS goes past the time slot indicated on the tvguide (or similar local paper) . If it were up to me i'd say "unless it gives preference on the paper (tv guide or local such) we're sticking to what's on. You know, i am almost to the point of being an advocate of broadcast sports channels, just for the sake of the current channels sticking to what's to be shown.

!!! When i poped in i felt like someone hit me with a brick wall or something, or like someone redirected me to a bogus remake site . Nice to know it's still the same place, though it's going to take some getting used to .

I already know about the delphin class, but this is something else (and it's not on DITL, they don't include fan-made starships).

I recently discovered a starship design that has really gotten my interest, but i'm finding it really hard to get anything on the vessel. The name of the vessel is given as Paladin, can anyone help me please?

It depends on what i am going to do with it. If i'm going to modify the file, doc. But if i'm just reading it mht or pdf works fine.

 

Btw, you can make pdf's without buying adobe's software. One is available at http://www.cutepdf.com/ but you may need another file to utilize it.

 

Another which you can use without an extra file is Virtual PDF Printer, but that leaves a watermark.

:) Actually, it'd be fairly easy to explain how the plasma is kept from frying everyone in the vicinity of the light saber (EM Shielding anyone?), but it's how it'd get so much energy and how'd it get the plasma that's the problem. :)

While he has made an impact on people when it comes to how smart people look, i think the overall impression he's given is your 30 minutes of fame. The odds are in the air over whether people will even give notice when the show returns for normal competitions.

 

I think the people that go up against him from now on (or anyone like him, for that matter) deserves at least a runner up prize for the attempt, like a $100 or such.

I think if you look real closely and watch the first 3 (or next 3? ) movies, you'll notice that sidious is palpatine. For example is the way in which both sidious and palpatine show themselves, using basically the same holoprojection and both in basically the same robe, even the voices are basically the same :).

Well, haven't really been crying but that's mainly because of all the self-control that's been worked on through the years, but i have been terribly sad for not being to see my gf, even after i have chatted with her just the past day/night. *sigh* I'm probably going to cry a bunch some day, but all these years i've been keeping my tears in check.
