  1. Is it true satellite signals can be lost in bad weather?

Yes  I can understand severe thunderstorms, tropical storms or hurricanes... but sometimes it will go out for a short time or at least pixellate briefly during small showers.

Got rid of cable with Time Warner, and went with DishNetwork for the tv service. Then switched internet service... got rid of DSL and went to cable with.... you guessed it Time Warner/Road Runner.

  2. With the lapse in missions after the Columbia disaster all the shuttle programs are VERY much behind schedule. I read at NASA the main reason they wanted to abandon it is missions to complete building the ISS need to take precedent now.

Good point. And with the upcoming mission pushed back to May 22nd now, it is even further behind than before.

  3. Me too, I always wanted to be an Egyptologist.

EmilSoong, my sister, wanted to be one as well. So I am sure she is going to be interested in checking this out.. As soon as I get to talk to or see her again, I am going to point this thread out to her

For me, this was very interesting.. thanks for posting it!!!!!

  4. and on it's 17th year it burns up in the Atmosphere  :)

:hug: That truly stinks. Reading the article on, I think, AOL yesterday they had a poll on what we thought should be done...meaning should they send a shuttle so an upgrade and repairs to be done to the Hubble, or just leave it alone. I voted it should be maintained... I really wish they would not abandon the telescope.

And thanks for posting the pics.. the Hubble has produced such beautiful images over the years

This one is one of my favorites.

  5. I like the fact as well, that there was basically a crossover as well.. on the grounds that Scotty, McCoy, Spock and Sarek all appeared during the series (so a nod and continuation of TOS), as well as the fact that Bashir appeared(so a tie in to DS9, not to mention the fact that Worf went to the station). Then Janeway's brief appearance in Nemesis.. tying in VOY into the whole thing.

  6. 12. My neighbor was bitten by a stray rabid dog. I went to see how he was and found him writing frantically on a piece of paper. I told him rabies could be cured and he didn't have to worry about a will. He said, "Will? What will? I'm making a list of the people I want to bite!"

They are all amusing, but this one is one of my favorites.

  7. In my case, the guy I like is funny, kind, gentle(at least he always is around me), protective, intellegent, strong, incredibly caring. He is very attractive, a wonderful listener, he is very easy to talk to. We could easily get talking, and next thing you know two, three or four hours have passed.

My best friend is pretty much the first guy to accept me for who I am, and did not try to change me in any way. It is another reason I like him so much. He'd joke about stuff.. like when I was being really silly, but never in a way that was concidered mean. It was all in good humor.

  8. I know this is really far behind the posts, but the reason why they change the paper bills so often compared to the coins is that the average lifespan of a paper bill is only several months, compared to years and years for coins.  Also, with the current trend of scanners and copiers being so good, the old bills were getting copied too easily. If you think the money is fake, feel it.  Money is printed on cloth, not paper.  Also, check the serial numbers, if they are the same, or too long or short, don't accept it.  When in doubt, you could always hit it with an indelible marker, also called a counterfeit pen.  They can be found at a local office supply store for cheap.l

Yeah, we used those pens at work.. I do not doubt that when I start my new job on May 2nd that we may use those pens again.

We ended up having to get new pens a few times before going to other means to check for whether or not the bill was real.. :dude::dude: On the grounds that they kept being used as regular pens by everyone , managers included.

IMO it's a very unique expedition that deserves to be recognized with this coinage honor.
I agree completely, and I am looking forward to seeing the new coin when it is released. I hope to get two of them, like I did with teh one with the buffalo on it
