  1. I posted this link on the old board so I'll put it here too.

For those people that download episodes, this site is great. You may have to download the Torrent program first but to give you an example of how it works. I am currently downloading tonight's episode of Enterprise only 20 minutes after it got over. Granted, it's going to take about an hour to download but then I'll have it (it's 80 MB).

  2. I thought I had posted this at the start of hostile action but it doesn't look like I did.

This was given to me by a Chaplin when I was in the Army in 1988 in training and it's always touched me so I want to share it with everyone here. For both supporters of the military action and for those that are against the action I think we can all agree that the Soldiers deserve our support and thoughts and prayers.

    Soldier

I was that which others did not want to be.

I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do.

I asked nothing from those who gave nothing, and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal lonliness...should I fail.

I have seen the face of terror, felt the stinging cold of fear, and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moments love.

I have cried, pained, and hoped.....but most of all, I have lived times others would say were best forgotten.

At least someday I will be able to say that I was proud of what I was.....

    A Soldier.

  3. Like everyone else I liked Pike, and he could have been the Capt in the series had he not had other obligations in 1966.

Actually, VaBeachGuy, Mr Hunter didn't have any other "obligations" in 1966. He was offered the part of Capt Pike in the second pilot, but he turned it down. Why? The woman who was Mrs Hunter the time was a control freak who ran every aspect of Jeffrey Hunter's life and career. He wanted to take the part, but she convinced him that a role on a TV series was "beneath him" and that he should pursue a career in movies. There was an interview with William Shatner that I saw on television a while back where he thanks Jeffrey Hunter's wife for talking him out of taking the role. If it wasn't for her, there would be no Captain Kirk!

That's right! I remember now, she told him not to take it. Well, like TransporterMalfunction pointed out above, all things worked out for the best. I do think Hunter would have made a good Captain, it would have been a more "serious" role though I think. I don't know that he would have brought the "lighter side" that Shatner was able to bring.

  4. You were logged in ok, the board was set so that the Admin had to approve all new members though. I've corrected that and added the posting to your post count so you get credit for it.

  5. I had to leave the Star Trek.com message boards because a lot of the people there were doing my head in. Most people were more concerned with how much and how often they could post something rather than just getting down to a nice debate or opinion. One person, wolftrek, was really immature and flodded the board with spam, and then would have the gall to call other people's sensible conversation topics nonsense. A lot of people would go in there and do nothing but argue and criticise your opinions when it was not merited. The boards are over run with infatiles and i hope that my time on this site will be more full of fun and less criticism. LOL

I feel sure you will enjoy it here. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I haven't seen anyone here really argue with anyone else. We have good debates at times but for the large part everyone is here to have fun and talk about Star Trek.

  6. Really, I didn't know that. Thanks.

As for the First officer question about T'Pol. According to the bio files for T'Pol she is merely the Sciende officer on the NX-01

Has Archer never referd to her as his First Officer? And if she's not then who is?

I have only seen a handful of Enterprise episodes but I thought I had heard him introduce her to someone as his first officer. Can anyone remember this?

I don't remember it, though I can very well be wrong. Remember, she was there as a temporary situation and isn't part of Starfleet. She is second in command, but I don't think she's officially the 1st Officer.

  7. I have some board ideas!  Nothing major, most of some of which are name changes.

    Anyway, here are my ideas.

    Change the following board names:

Star Trek: TOS ----> Star Trek (the original series)

Star Trek: TNG ----> Star Trek The Next Generation

Star Trek: DS9 ----> Star Trek Deep Space Nine

Star Trek: VOY ----> Star Trek Voyager

    Star Trek: ENT ----> Enterprise

Also, I'd like to see the addition of a new board uner "Off Topic"

How about having a "Holodeck" for message board RPG's?  Or does that allready exist and I just haven't found it?

That's all from me!  HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYONE!!!!! ;)

The Holodeck board for Roleplaying is actually already in the works, so everyone can look for that soon.

  8. Welcome to the board! As you read the postings here I think you'll find we all have spelling errors at one time or another, and no one ever points them out. I feel sure you will be warmly welcomed. I look forward to seeing you around the board.

  9. Did you see the headline about the season ender for Enterprise being shot in 3D? It says:
As promised, the season finale of Enterprise will take the show in an all-new direction: Instead of warping away into space, the NX-01 will warp right into your living room! That's right, it's coming your way in 3D! Click here to order your glasses!

The Interview with Capt. Pike is pretty funny and I also highly recomend the Tribble Interview.

    LOL!

I wonder if the 3D one is fake though. I could see them doing something like that, though it would eb expensive. I intend on looking further into that one lol

  10. That is what my little (why do I say that I am 4'11" and he is 6'1")...younger brother suggested to me. He noticed that the video quality of the VHS tape I had was not really what it could be. He said that it may be easier for me to get the shows on CD and then watch them on my computer (I don't have a TV in my room).

I watch at least 2 episodes of Star Trek every single night on my computer. Sometimes TNG, sometimes DS9. SOmetimes I mix it up and watch 1 from all 5 series. The video quality of the downloaded episodes isn't great, in some cases worse then VHS quality but when you can fit 5, 6 or 7 episodes on one CD it's worth it.

  11. Well, there's a couple of options people can go for. Check Ebay, there's people on there selling the sets at lower then retail prices.

Or 2 you can do like I did and download all of the episodes (I have over 60 Gigs of episodes on my hard drive right now, most of TNG and all of DS9 and all of Enterprise)
