  1. Well this wasn't "A Night In Sickbay". I think this is one of the better episodes simply because of the importance of the issues it brings up.

    Click for Spoiler:

The Cogenitor killing herself at the end will help usher in the Prime Directive. This was a VERY good episode.

  2. This was brought up before but it would have been really cool to have seen it done this way, if TPTB would have made Broken Bow a Movie for the theatres for release in the summer and then at the end of the movie have a Message that comes up saying "Look for Enterprise on UPN this fall". That would have been a great way to start the series off.

  3. I have a few framed pictures in my hallway and a shelf in my bedrrom with various Trek memorabilia on it, but my sis has pictures covering her hallway that goes up 3 flights!!!. Plus she has lots of things on display such as 3d chess sets and models of spacecraft, and she has a really cool model of DS9. She loves trek as much as i do and i keep telling her to join this site, but she's shy i think.

Tell her she can join, if for no other reason to read the postings anf vote in polls. She doesn't have to post herself. She can remain in the shadows

  4. It looks like the Hilton will have everything we need to pull it off. We just need to get as big a group as we can. They have small convention rooms that will hold 50 people and they have larger rooms for larger groups. They even have he Audio/Visual equiptment we would need for Episode screening, for a price of course.

The catered event at Quarks should be pretty cool, I've always wanted to eat at Quarks! lol

If there's enough interest I'll make some calls to a few travel agents and see if we can get some group deals for a package that includes airfare.

  5. After reading the thread linked below and in it telling about a dream I had about a STARTREKFANS.NET convention the Mods and I began talking about trying to make this really happen.

The initial plan (which is in the infant stages of forming) would be to have a "convention" in the summer of 2004 in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Hilton.

I've done some checking and the rates at the Hilton aren't that high. Around $70 per night, which is actually pretty low compared to other areas. Hotels here in Virginia Beach can be twice that or more, and we would be able to get some group discounts if we have 20 or more people attend. We would also be able to get some reservations for the Star Trek Experience as well.

Some of the things that have been discussed already would be to have STARTREKFANS.NET Tee shirts with our screen names on them and to have episode screenings of at least a few episodes. The way I would envision that would be for us to have a convention room at the Hilton reserved where we could watch one or several episodes of the various series and hold a discussion about the Episodes we were watching. If we watched 1 from each series that would be 5 to 6 hours. About 42 minutes per episode, and 15 to 20 minutes of discussion in between. If that's a bit much we could always pick a few episodes by running a poll and go from there.

I myself will be there next summer one way or the other. That's a done deal. I think it would be great if we could all plan this out as a "convention" though. I know not everyone would be able to do this, especially for some of the younger members. Convincing your parents to take you to Vegas for a "Star Trek Fans Convention" wouldn't be the easiest thing in the world to do (Unless they are Trek fans too).

We could plan this around the Official convention, or at a time that we would likely be the largest single group there. If we do it during the official convention there would be huge crowds to contend with, which has it's ups and it's downs. Prices would likely be higher during the official convention too, but then there would be some of the series stars on hand.

We'll continue making plans and looking into the details of setting it up while you all look into the possibility of attending.

One other thing we had discussed. We'd want this to be a "non-dress up" event. In other words, I can't wear my Quark outfit . It was suggested though that if this grows and becomes an annual event we could have a banquet or something for dressing up (For those interested in doing that).

So, what are your thoughts? Below is the original link that sparked the discussions.

  6. That's for sure, he brought a lot of passion to the character and has become one of my favorite characters in all of Star Trek.

Then again as everyone here probably knows, DS9 is my favorite of the 5 series.

In a recent interview with a German web site, Avery Brooks spoke about the hope for the future offered by the television franchise and recalled some of his memories from filming Deep Space Nine.

Brooks told TrekZone.de that Star Trek "gives us some hope that we might be able to overcome our weaknesses in a few hundred years and that there will be peace for mankind". He said that he was drawn to the story in the pilot episode of a captain who had suffered a great personal loss and could not make peace with himself until he traveled to "an unknown part of the universe" and defended his people against other intelligent species.

"Star Trek allows us to speak about the world and shows us things that cannot be dealt with completely at this point of time," added the actor, who noted that he thought it was an obvious choice to make his own African-American origins a part of Sisko "because my origin is obvious...I am the embodiment of my culture, whether I'm deliberatively connected with it or not."

Brooks said that he did not appear with his head shaved in the early episodes because his contract contained a clause in which he agreed to let his hair grow, which he speculated stemmed from the producers not wanting him to be mistaken for his previous television character, Hawk. "As time passed, they permitted me to shave off the hair again completely and to let the beard grow."

Because of the weekly filming schedule, Brooks said that he became a more spontaneous actor on Deep Space Nine, particularly after one director forbade him to use his hands. "That takes a large part of the spontaneity away from you," he noted, adding that he trusted the writers and acted "'from the belly'".

  9. If Alterego say you never take no for an answer it is most likely C_S or other mods have "spoken" with him. :look:

Does this mean Alterego can go arround deleting my posts left and right becuase he doesn't like them?

Basically, if a Moderator finds a posting to be inappropriate for any reason. Be it in substance, location or any other reason then yes. Postings in a public forum that should be done in private (PM's or e-mail) should and will be deleted and properly so.

If a topic is posted several different times in several different placed it should and will be merged into the corresponding threads.

Personal complaints belong in a PM or e-mail, not in open forum.

  10. "I'm here to help but I don't have to like it.."

nothing to see here just a test...

hmm I wonder what this button does..

the CODE button is for typing in the codes but the codes won't take effect. It's a way of showing people what the codes should look like. For example:

    [IMG=http://server7.ipshosting.com/~startrek/style_images/Trekker-623/fed_comm.gif]

would show people how the code tag to insert a Pic would be typed.

But if I just put the code in without the CODE butting being used this would happen:

Enterprise DVDs are currently being planned for release in overseas markets, a Paramount representative said recently.

Willem Goverde from Paramount Netherlands reportedly told the Netherlands Star Trek Fan Club the Enterprise European VHS line is being discontinued due to poor sales. Instead, Paramount intends to release the series on DVD in season box sets, similar to Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

There are currently plans for season one to be released in Europe (Region 2) at the end of 2003, Goverde told fan club members, though the exact street date has yet to be determined. Subsequent seasons will follow in similar box sets.

With Deep Space Nine DVDs already on the shelves, Paramount has started putting together their Voyager sets. Again, each season will be present in similar format to The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, although there are no release dates available at this stage.

Please note that this information only applies to Europe (Region 2). There are currently no details on planned DVD releases of Enterprise in the United States or other parts of the world.
