This was an excellent episode. I give this one a 5.
-
It was enough to protect the one brother that my family came from. I should correct what I said above, 5 of the 6 brothers would be uncles. The 6th brother would be my great-great-whatever-Grandfather.A fat lot of good that log did. -
4. I like Star TrekReally? Gee, we had no idea about that one.
lol Just seeing if anyone would catch that one...
Ok, the real #4...
I don't think I posted this before but during the Civil war 6 of my uncles (great-great... maybe another great added) were all fighting on the side of the Confederates, all 6 in the same unit.
All 6 were behind a log together during a battle when a cannon blast hit the log. 5 of them were killed, my family came from the 6th. Had he been in the position of one of his brothers then my family wouldn't exist.

5 things that I haven't already posted about myself. Wow. I don't know if there are 5 things that I could think of. I've been pretty open about myself on here.
I'll give it a shot though.
1. I have 3 brothers and a sister
2. I'm the youngest of my siblings
3. I became an uncle at the age of 8
4. I like Star Trek
5. I was a Boy Scout

I don't think I even watched a single episode of the new version. Thanks because it's garbage. Good choice not watching it, just stick to the original and you'll be better off.
Yeah, once I heard that Starbuck had a sex change I decided to skip it.

It did further a specific aspect of Siskos character development and added a twist that was used later (and wasn't used later).I never understood the appeal of this episode. It was great for the actors involved I suppose but did absolutely nothing to further the storyline or character development of DS9.The way that it furthered Siskos character development is that it shows him growing weary of the Dominion war and his role as the Emissary and if I recall correctly he was speaking with his father in his office about moving on. That's when the Prophets stepped in and began this vision that is this episode. Through that vision he gained a "renewed spirit" for what he was doing.
That's what I took away from it as far as it fitting in with the Dominion War arc anyway. Later in Season 7s opener they used Benny and his Sci-Fi writing vision again and it was even under consideration to end the series with Benny the Sci-Fi writer writing about DS9 and all of the characters that he created. I'm glad they didn't do that for the ending, but they did consider it.
All in all though, I think it was just an episode to get the cast out of their makeup and do a "just for fun" episode.

Nooooooooo! Does this mean she no longer likes TNG? *cries* *lol* Just kidding. Glad you managed to "create" another Niner!I tried re-watching the show recently, I bought the DVDs and all... but I still can't get into it, no matter how hard I try...
How far into the series do you get? The first 2 seasons can be a little slow going though there's some really good episodes in there.
It wasn't until the third season until it really started to come into it's own though and by the 4th season when Michael Dorn came onboard as Worf it really took off.
If you already know the characters and their personalities and you want to skip some seasons, you could probably skip the first 3 seasons and just watch the final 4 and really get a good feel for DS9 though. Season 3 had some great episodes in it though, so skipping it would be a mistake lol.
I watched the entire 7 seasons... season 7 I really did not care for at all because of Ezri (*ugh*). I did enjoy the first two seasons the most, actually (I know, I'm odd - I do love the first TNG seasons the most as well, I always get strange looks for that one - lol)... I'm just not a big fan of the Dominion War. I do see that it's all well done and all, but it's not my cup of tea. Too much war, too many ships being blown up. For someone like me who prefers the rather peaceful TNG universe, this really wasn't what I wanted to see somehow. I do acknowledge that DS9 is a good show, though. Just not my favorite. There were a few excellent episodes, though - most notably "The Visitor" (I tend to call it DS9's "The Inner Light" - it has a very similar amount of emotional impact somehow). I also liked the recurring guest stars - Gul Dukat comes to mind. What a great character! Never really cared that much for the actual crew, though. I liked Garak and Dukat and Weyoun much better... *is odd*
Yeah, I think it's the general consensus that the first couple of seasons of TNG weren't the best of the series. I still enjoy them though. Same with DS9 and Voyager too.
When watching the entire series (DS9) I really like the way they kind of tie everything together. It's like they started painting a mural and it took all 7 seasons to get the full mural in focus. There's points throughout the seasons that wind up being tied to future events very nicely. I believe some of it was on purpose but some just happened that way (according to Ira Behr).
"The Visitor" was an excellent episode, comparing it to "The Inner Light" is dead on. Very similar, yet also dissimilar at the same time. There's gems in each season.
You've gotta love Dukat, he goes from evil to friend and back to evil again, Damar has a similar character arc as well. Jeffery Combs has to be one of the best reoccurring actors in all of Trekdom, not only for Weyoun but for all of his characters. He was brilliant as Shran in Enterprise and I loved him as Brunt as well.
Garak has to be my favorite Cardassian, you're not quite sure if he's a villain or a hero but in the end you have to love him.
Poor Ezri, always misunderstood lol. I liked her, maybe it was because she's so cute though lol.

Took a quick look a (you tube) of Little Green Men. I Just have to get this Series, I can see now that we were visited.lol Yeah, that was a great episode. Another one that is totally off the topic but you might find on YouTube is "Far Beyond the Stars". Awesome, awesome episode where you finally get to see all of the case out of makeup.

Like Takara said, of course we remember you. You're one of the Founders. :)Hi everyone, since I'm doing this sort of topic thingy on a lot of other boards, I thought why not doing it here as well, here, the first English-speaking Trek message board I registered at when I became a Trek fan... wow, that was a long time ago...
Those of you who remember me probably also remember that I'm a huge fan of Sir Patrick Stewart. I try to know everything about him, which is proving to be a rather challenging task sometimes.
It has been a while ago that you joined, we're coming up on 7 years since your join date! I'm not sure if I knew that this was the first English speaking board that you had joined though. I'm glad you did.
Aww thank you! I remember you as well, of course. Remember the fun we had with all the manipped wedding pics all these years ago?
Yeah I know, it's been almost 7 years... which matches my "was obsessed with TNG first, then Jean-Luc and then shortly after that, Patrick Stewart" time, actually. :blush2: Yes this was the first English-speaking board I joined. I remember how nervous I was. And I was constantly worried about making grammar/spelling mistakes...
You're very welcome, and from what I remember of those old posts I can't think of any grammar or spelling mistakes. Though I'm sure I've made my share of them over the years and English is supposed to my my first language lol.
We don't worry about any of that though and as far as I can tell just from reading I'd think you were born in Virginia or some other state here, and that's not meant as an insult either lol
Yes, those old photo threads were a whole lot of fun. Most of the pics should still be around here somewhere.
I didn't mean to hijack the Sir Patrick Stewart thread but seeing as he's only a knight and I'm a President I think he'd understand lol.

Well, we know from the DS9 episode "Little Green Men" that aliens do exist. They've visited Earth in the past.
-
You know, what I'm taking away from this is that he's British. I never knew that, or at least if I did I forgot.

I told her I wouldn't gloat, so this isn't a "gloating post" but DS9er nation has a new citizen.
I've contended for years that DS9 is Star Trek at it's finest, the best Trek series of them all and also contains the best Trek episode of any episode in the form of season 6's "In the Pale Moonlight". Many TNG fans have disputed my claims of DS9's greatness in the past and one of those doubters was Mandy.
Well I challenged her years ago to withhold her final judgment until she had actually watched the entire series. Well last night, after learning that she's 5 seasons into DS9 for the first time I asked for her opinions and/or thoughts on the series.
I'll quote her reply: "Best of Trek".
So this isn't a gloating post, it's a "Welcome to the family" post. Welcome to Niner Nation Mandy. Shall we change your name to QuarkChick? Maybe NogChick?
Now I have the urge to pop in my DS9 DVDs and re-watch the series. Luckily my spring semester is over in about a week and I'll have almost a month off before the summer semester starts.

Ok, it's added (at the very bottom of the full emoticon list)

Yeah, my TV's are not quite up to that level, lol. The one in my room that I watch the most is a 48" by my brother bought when I was a kid, lol.If you have a PC near the TV and the video card has video out (and the TV, VCR or DVD player) has video in then all you have to do is hook the computer to the TV/VCR/DVD player. If the PC is networked then you can just display the computer onto the TV through the DVD player or whatever has the input jacks as if the TV is a second monitor and extend your desktop onto it.
Not a perfect way to do it but it works.
-
Yeah, that's great! I think Kevin will like it tooGot it, I'll get it added to the database tomorrow.
-
I let mine go when I was laid off last year, especially since I had the same DVD out for about six months before that, lol. I was doing the same with watching streaming video, but I don't really watch much streaming video at home and can't at work. Now if I can ever afford to upgrade to a newer Tivo where I can stream video from them on it, then I will definitely be back on board.I just use my PS3 for that. Plus there's other methods to stream it to your TV but you have to have network access to the TV for it to work.
-
Happy Anniversary. And you are definitely NOT old<3 That's supposed to be a heart lol. I thought there would be an emoticon
If you find a good one I'll add it to the database. Otherwise the only one we have is this one:

I liked this episode, not one of the best of the first seasons but I thought it was good.
