Interesting. I have Yankee roots that go way back, have lived in the upper Midwest most all my life but have no Dixie connection that I know of.

I've lived in the State of Georgia, the deep south, all of my life. And my dad lived in Ohio for many years, so this is very accurate. Since I live in Dixie, it's natural to have a high Dixie, but I'm not as bad with slang like a lot of people I personally know are. lol

LOL, hey this works for me. Except  why the Dixie score????

ok, ok.. no offense was meant by that. I was born and raised(for the most part) here in Florida, but majority of my family is from the North and upper midwest .

I did it twice because there were a couple of the words or terms that I use both depending on the context of the sentence. The first time I did it i got this:

70% General American English

25% Dixie

5% Yankee

0% Midwestern

0% Upper Midwestern

The second time I did it with only 1 or 2 changes to account for those phrases or words that I use both ways I got this:

65% General American English

25% Dixie

10% Yankee

0% Midwestern

0% Upper Midwestern

I can accept either one, I was born and raised in Maryland which is the northern most state south of the Mason Dixon line and I now live in Virginia which was the capitol of the south so 25% Dixie seems about right and 5 to 10% Yankee seems about right too because I didn't live too far north to pick up any of the northern influences and I've never even set foot in the Midwest or Upper Midwest so 0% for those is right too. and 65 to 70% general English seems about right because the places I've lived in my lifetime have had people from all parts of the country so my linguistic influences have been from all parts of the US which fits in with being "General American English".

Interesting. I'm from California, and lived in Texas for 4 years, and in Long Island for about 1 1/2 years.

Just to note to everyone here that people in the Pacific Northwest are know for speaking and using English langauage as it is showen it texts books. That means they use liitle or no slang, ascents, or any other form of language use that might change the meaning or sound of a give word.
